  1. Seen them up here in the bay also. Was going to snap a pic, but didn't have a camera and decided it was slightly too BMW geek to and get it and come back.
  2. Yep, it represents the model of car, year, month and place of manufacture, and a host of other info. There is a breakdown somewhere. but you'll have to do a search.
  3. God, the text is worse than the pictures!
  4. Sick! Only mini on TM with satnav???
  5. Have emailed ltsa. Will post reply when received. May as well hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. Edit - I've just clicked where the confusion may be!!! NEW vehicles must comply with the 2005 standard - USED vehicles only have to comply with the 2002 standard. So any NEW vehicle built to the old standard (an e65 might be as they were initially released for sale in 2002), won't be allowed in, but a second hand example will.
  6. If you have other mods which do not require certs by themselves, once you require a cert for something else, everything becomes subject to the certification process. What sort of mods are we talking for the 20% increase?
  7. OK - as far as the LTSA website shows, Infosheet 2.08 Revision 5 is still the current standard - there would have to be a new revision released ASAP to be able to change it on that date - (advanced warning required). Link to infosheet revision history Infosheet 2.08 rev 5 Table 1 outlines the dates for compliance with Japan 2000/02 and Japan 2005 rules and is same as above. Glenn, can your source shed any light on new rules that may have been rushed in with the new govt without warning?
  8. This wasn't what i remembered was supposed to happen, so I went and re-read the emissions rules that came into effect on 1 Jan this year. They said on January 1st 2008 cars must be no older than 10 years old,on January 1st 2009 there is to be a rollover to Japan 2000/02 standards (cars must be no older than 8 years old), on January 1st 2012 it will rollover again to Japan 2005 standards (cars must be no older than 7 years old). Will try to find info on any amendments that have been passed. maybe there is some confusion, or they have brought the 2012 date ahead by 3 years!?
  9. Are 20yr+ vehicles still exempt?
  10. Favourite quote? For me it was the m3 rev limiting at the end.
  11. sweet! - 18's and multifunction steering wheel.
  12. I'm biased as the rest, but take it from someone who considered buying a 'tezz in a moment of weakness - you'll love the 330. Just make sure you get a mechanical check from a BMW specialist first. CANNOT EMPHASISE THIS ENOUGH.

    My E36 Coupe

Best looking e36 on BS in my opinion.
  14. Will be. In fact have started contacting all of aforementioned groups, writing letters takes time and phone calls only get you so far...
  15. Heard about that on the radio this morning. Sounds much the same to me.
  16. My car ha 40mm lowering. My alignment is almost identical on both sides and I have 2.5 degrees neg camber on front, 3 deg neg on rear, and factory toe. I have setback on the front which is right on max so something s not perfectly straight, but not out by enough to cause problems. I can't remember castor, but it is not within factory spec. Started to wander a bit mid corner with bumpsteer the other day and got an alignment - toe was out and problem is now solved. Always wondered about offset bushes but handles very well as it is so never bothered.

    Reving Porblems

Not sure about the ticking as Idon't think you have given enough details, but you have a problem with your auto trans. If you are lucky, you may find a service and adjustment of the belts inside the trans will have you right - worst case scenario you are looking at a new trans. Take it to a specialist bmw dealer or an auto trans dealer for an appraisal.
  18. Ollie - AFAIK they DO record what sort of plate you have - mainly so that they have a record of you returning your old plates in as they don't want two sets of plates out there for people to stick on similar cars.

    e36 325i

What are the brake calipers - just painted, or something special? And do I see a dent on the drivers side front guard or do I need my eyes checked. PS sorry to point out a defect - the car is freakn cool.
  20. An auto is cooled by the trans fluid being pumped around the gearbox. Additionally, many of the parts in the box that require lubrication only get it when the fluid is pumped to them. No matter what gear the box is in, many of the moving parts turn if the vehicle is towed. Short distances is ok, but long distances will mean the box will heat up and parts will wear from lack of lubrication.

    Holy Shyte

I had an 18yo Maori boy on the staff for awhile who used to bring leftover pukeko to work for lunch. I was never game to try it. I know an old recipe for pukko stew: Pluck and gut the bird. Place in a large pot on the stove. Add carrots, potatoes, salt, pepper, water and a large smooth river stone. Boil for two days. Throw out the soup and eat the rock. We keep the numbers down at our place as well. For all the reasons Glenn says plus they sh*t everywhere and if they sh*t in stock troughs it can make the cattle sick. It only takes a few days of hitting them hard and we don't see them for a few weeks. Took a walk up the back stream one day to see if they were nesting. There was about 30 of the f**kers hiding out on the neighbours dam. At least I know where they are breeding now, but can't do much about it because the neighbour is a city farmer and likes them. Managed to get two with one shot the other day with the shotty.
