    ccv valve help

It wont i was mearly pointing out another issue. My ccv valve went i did minimal driving before replacement and the sparkplugs looked rooted though they werent all that old. I took the chance to replace them and had much better idle and power afterwards. As always i agree with a proper diagnosis but was offering advice from my experiance for those who prefer a diy approach however misguided that may be. May have neglected to mention the spray i was refering to you can use to clean carbon from the cylinders directly. I have seen it used on a 6cyl turbo falcon that had eaten oil with a blown turbo seal. Used nulon cleaner in first three cylinders. Got better compression on those and much better exhaust valve sealing. They removed the head and three cyl were clean as a whistle the others had heaps of carbon build up. Again controversial but i trust the op to make his own decisions.

    ccv valve help

i was more refering to the ccv pipe being removed and put into a coke bottle. it wasnt throwing oil out so wont hurt to put it back on. if it turned up to you with a coke bottle catch tank im guessing you would fix that first??? am i right also if you refer to the first post the valve has been replaced and yes the manifold was removed. so im guessing the valve isnt f**ked as its brand new.
  3. Ok that sounds reasonable. That being said i dont think the brand new engine will demand rediculous money on resale when the bulk of the engine parts dont wear considerably if maintained. As the car sounds better amd better it just makes the advertisement seem more and more subpar. We may have made poor assumptions based on lack of info but the seller is responsible for that. And any potential buyers will likely do the same. I wouldnt buy a product with no detail and no pictures on the packaging on the promise one particular person will say its good. Im thinking he wants the sale to fail so he can put into motion said plan b Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2

    ccv valve help

I would say put the ccv back on and get it properly diagnosed. Apps arent that great at this sort of thing. Have you changed out the plugs since the ccv valve change. possibly try nulon intake foaming cleaner. Sounds weird but it works watch some youtube vids to see how it works Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  5. Must be well taken care of when you blow a gearbox and an engine within 7000kms. Some people just dont understand how to market a car Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  6. Soumds like overheating. Takes a long time to cool. If you track often get new fluid and a decent sized trams cooler Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  7. Not bad compared with what ive seen. Gotta have the power to back up a splitter i say Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  8. Its trademe so probably around $3219 Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  9. I have usually used degreaser and just ran water over it to rinse. On a couple of cars ive then had to dry out dizzys or plugs which isnt great but they were hondas so who cares Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  10. Some people arent born with bmw knowledge. And im sure you can have great mechanical and electrical knowledge and not already know the ins and outs of bmws. I sure didnt when i started. As you say he is asking questions and isnt that how we all learn. He might not have known how bmw code systems and cam sensors work at the start of this thread but im sure he will know by the end. Amberleigh is the same. Read her threads and the knowledge grows with every page. And now she is sharing what she has learnt. Snarky comments dont help people especially when they then feel.unwelcome to come on here next time, imo. And aside from not towing the car a couple of hundred kms to auckland to pay someone big money to fix it id say he has done everything pretty well with whats available.
  11. Mine snapped in the middle when removing for ccv valve job. Wasnt a major cost. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  12. Was fully expecting to see someone throw a brick at the window but that actually seems good. I meed to redo my rear window and am cautious about peeling the demister lines off Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  13. Never used beru before. Cant say ive seen them either. Bkr6equp are on the shelf at supercheap $185.70 for a set of 6. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  14. Just dont hook the charger up to the radiator..... Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  15. And i have usually used pebrite full synthetic 5/40 or 10/50. Both meet bmw ll01 grade Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  16. Bkr6equp from ngk. Not cheap but they work the best. Keep coil packs in order so they go back where they came from Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  17. Usually one bolt and a spacer washer. But my experiance is on a different bmw engine. Should be a guide on google or youtube Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  18. Codes wont be wiped until a scanner wipes them Older cars may have dozens of codes stored that look bad so you may need to clear the odes then drive it and see what comes back up Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  19. Yes cam sensors etc can come and go. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  20. The crank position sensor has nothing to do with the starter circuits. It along woth cam sensor tell the compter when to fire the coils. When they die the computer doesnt think the.motor.is turning over. I hate alarms for this reason. If possible bin it. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  21. The plan was to sell my 540i and hope yours was still for sale. So bit of a hold up there Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  22. Crank position sensors are used while running also. Unplug them amd see what happens. Yes you should get a resistance like that with two pins. Question is does that circuit break at the same time the car dies. Electronics are common to fail at high temp and recover when they cool. Intake leaks etc wont cause the car to shut down. They just ruin the idle etc. That gasket stuff is just likely excess glue that squeezed out with instalation. Replace cam and crank sensors. They will likely be issues in future by the looks anyway. But as said unplug either one while running and see what happens Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  23. Slightly unrelated but i was planning to flush the fluid on my 540i am i right in planning on flushing it through with constant top upa so you dont get airlocks in the abs unit or can i easily drain the whole system then refill. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  24. I have had similar ranged from $60 to free depending on how busy they were. Is fairly generic reset seeing as you know where the error came from so they should be able to accuratly quote a price with no hidden costs. Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  25. Agree ^ i think its decent value. Would rather have bad paint than a bad engine. Might be the start of another targa car Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
