have heard they get Vanos problems? probably like any BMW though In anycase, hope to see you at our meet/run next weekend -
if the trim is the only problem with an 18 year old car, sounds like a good one.

Ian (Hartage) in the red E30, looking sharp

not sure if my fiberglass one came from Hans originally, but good quality if it is, cant tell it apart once installed

I charge more in my wheeler dealing if people are giving me cash. pain in the ass having to go to the bank, and like i want a couple grand chilling under my mattress or whatever. a $20 starter motor or something is different, but whole cars, dont think so sunshine. not even kidding though, some of you may remember a Smurf E34 525i i had for a while, the guy that brought that off me aparently stole the money and the cops tried to reposess the money from me so they could take prints, i told them it was banked already etc and way beyond me, had to go give a report of the guys description or be arrested and everything.

Im looking forward to getting a shot of your car next to mine. You came to the Auckland meet at the Domain that I came up for didnt you? were you at that pub we all went to after? trying to work out if ive met you ha

agreed. ACS Type 2 are my favourite E34 wheel, and the best part about it is they are cheap
-
overengineered is a term they use for the E30, which is usually broken down more than they are on the road, i wonder if this car is the same. It must be a feel good term for european car owners
-
pretty well everyone when you are selling anything desirable from a Lancer Evolution, WRX etc to an Aston Martin
-
no off the shelf kit either. Talk to the guys at TTT Auto Engineering , think they are off Dominion Road if i got the name of the street correct. he did mine.

so do you park it in your garage/driveway and look at it or actually use it? im sure that gap (if you can call it that) disappears very clearly with someone or two inside the car, a tank of gas
-
so you swapped an E46 into an E30 but you send you car to someone else for a service?? I wonder where the autobahn in New Zealand is

I cant believe ill say it but... have done a few track days mostly in my automatic 550i Touring, yes a manual would be unquestionsably better for track work, but nothing "wrong" with the BMW automatics. Obviously you will be putting it in Sport mode and using the gear selector shifting for the car, leaving it in Drive would be stupid. They seem to lock up the tourque converter when not shifting so is much like a manual in that you can power out of corners without it flaring like it would in Drive. And the brakes in that car are fine too, its a wagon with a V12 in it, quite a bit heavier than a "normal" E34, but race fluid and otherwise stock brakes and its fine. you will only be doing 3 or 4 hot laps before cooling the car again anyways.

i used to be part of the team that taped all the gates shut for about 5 years for Rally Wairarapa, was quite fun hooning through the stages way way before anyone else at 3 or 4 in the morning etc. But the last couple years i didnt, i didnt feel my efforts were appreciated, so i cant be bothered doing it now.

Just the one when you leave....

are you holding the nut on the other end of the bolt?

ill have to ring Fedex on Monday. All the plates that aren't the black fern type ones have arrived and been shipped out, but i still haven't received the fern ones yet!! I really hope they haven't lost the parcel! Will post email from the contact that there is two parcels if anyone thinks i got the wool over your eyes ha. I got a plate in there too, so im just as annoyed as you guys!

I have the europlates here for it you ordered and didnt pay for here as well, hopefully new owner can take them off my hands.....
-
people that race more than I do probably will give better advice. really important to make sure all maintenance is up to date before you start "improving" the car. especially the cooling system, and if an automatic, the transmission oil and filter etc. Then an LSD and/or some quality tyres and/or manual gearbox, if it doesnt have them already. other stuff will probably be over your budget
-
ive seen this car in real life at one point about 3 years ago and it stuck in my mind. must be before you owned it. I have some replica AC Schnitzer type 2 wheels here spare, a bit scuffed but not too bad. If you still want them
-
i used a 10mm socket with a few layers of insulation tape. Oli showed me that trick, works well and free.
-
i know the forwards and backwards adjustment is where it bolts on, and rear up and down alignnent is the rubber bung things. will have another look for the front verticle alignment, how ever that works.

I understand the reason why the NZ government "invests" $58m in the sport. If we win, the tourism comes here for the next year etc. I have a much quicker solution. Why dont they put $58m on Black at the Roulette wheel at SkyCity, and see if we win or loose that instead The whole thing is a joke really, especially on what is essentially a big gamble.
