  1. Lol, I hope you have a concrete floor - those things are crazy heavy! Think I got about ten bucks for the Jatco in the 325i once I had separated all the ferrous from the ali. Good fun tearing it apart too Still kicking myself for getting rid of the bellhousing though! Keep the input shaft though, makes a really useful clutch plate alignment tool with a little electrical tape
  2. M3AN has a set to suit the S50 - might be the same as the S54?
  3. Contact Tom, he did have a set in 18" a while ago - don't know if he found a buyer for them though
  4. Not really, last time I used them was well over a year ago for some new shocks for the E36. Even if they don't give you a discount (pretty rare they don't) its still cheaper than using stupidcheap or ripco
  5. The other thing will be to compare the two wiring diagrams in the Bentley manual. Stolen copies are easily found in pdf on the web. Shouldn't be too hard either way.
  6. George Stocks here in Auckland carry Superpro, along with Koni and other goodies. Good bunch to deal with too
  7. No coding required. There's plenty of how-tos on the web, you can delete the auto dme but for the effort involved in removing all the wiring its not worth the bother. I have on mine, but I had the engine and loom out of the car at the time - not sure it would be possible with the harness in the car. Just whip the trans fail light out of the dash cluster if it offends. Found this link http://mye36project5spdswap.weebly.com/swapinterior-computer.html and it seems the M52s might be a little different to my M50. Either way, its not hard
  8. Kinda makes me a bit sad that your dad has decided to let it go - really hope the new owner treats it well and doesn't ruin it with coilovers and some stance bollocks! Ten bucks says the replacement auto is nowhere near as reliable as this either
  9. Pity! Sounds expensive though - I suspect the race series rules might make using a solution like that a little difficult too? If you can find someone with the tools it'd be a fun project to tackle, quite pricey bits of kit to buy for a one-off project.
  10. If you can borrow the right tools swapping R&P sets can be a really rewarding project. You've probably already seen this but there's a wealth of info here : http://www.bmw2002faq.com/_/technical-articles/engine-and-drivetrain/strongest-2002-limited-slip-differential-build-r74 Can the ti subframe be altered to accept an E36 diff at all? I've never been underneath an E30 to compare notes
  11. Easy solution would be to swap the guts of a medium case 3.73 as used in the jap 325i autos. I don't have direct experience with one behind a ZF manual but in talking to Kayne Barrie a long time ago he did point out that first gear becomes basically useless with anything shorter than a 3.46:1. The E30 boxes with overdrives 5th also have much taller 1-4th gears so it will have a fair bit of impact when it comes to getting the best all round ratio for the final drive.
  12. From what I can see so far the standard 8" offset for the E92 is 34mm. ET45 will leave the rim sitting 11mm closer to the strut. http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=45&diameter=17&wheelwidth=8&offset=34&width2=225&aspect2=35&diameter2=19&wheelwidth2=8&offset2=45#content Assuming you currently have 17s you will have no benefit to these wheels aside from looks - the drawbacks will be incorrect offset, shitty tyres, and crap aftermarket wheels which will probably bend on our awful roads. 35 profile on a 19" wheel is a far slimmer sidewall than a 45 profile on a 17" - less sidewall = higher chance of damaging wheels on potholes etc. If you're on a tight budget, stay with the OEM wheels (better quality than most of the aftermarket stuff anyway) and invest in some quality tyres.

    Indy Red E60 M5

Did you take the photos at Otatara? Colour looks very reminiscent of the CalypsoRot used on early - mid 90s cars, very nice! Edit: spelling
  14. Yup, its an awkward bugger of a job if you don't conveniently have a hoist & trans jack at your disposal. Took more than month for my neck to come right after doing the swap on mine, there's two scars on my left knuckles as a permanent reminder too Very satisfying once its done though.
  15. RealOEM is your friend http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=BF32-EUR-08-1993-E36-BMW-325i&mg=23 Shou;ld be able to figure out how many bearings and where they are hiding from the diagrams. 90% sure off the top of my head there is only the one input bearing but the exploded diagrams will confirm. Happy hunting
  16. Which gearbox was it mated to? Trying to figure out if they use an E30 or E21 type throwout bearing
  17. Tax sink!! Quite cunning for a small town dealer, really

    WTB: E36 M3

Can't help with the car search sorry, but I have noticed you have possibly the most bizarre avatar I've seen here yet. Black dude covered in donuts sitting in a bathtub. Wot the actual f**k??
  19. 3lb BFH and a blowtorch usually fix most panel clearance issues anyways
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=998446207 Seller can't spell for quits! Edit: Might find it's too wide to fit the 3er - I know the 540i Eisenmann box I had was miles too wide, not sure if the Remus / AC will be the same
  21. Haven't seen a dual pipe E36 AC Schnitzer / Remus backbox since Micheal sold the one off his coupe years ago, but there is an E39 540i one thats just been listed. I reckon it's too expensive for a nearly 20 year old used part but it's a sellers market I guess. Might be too wide to fit in the E36 but worth a look
  22. No replacement for displacement! Factory hone marks on old engines gives me warm fuzzies - how many km had the donor done?
  23. Go on, get her a Hellcat - you'll have open license to do anything car related without permission for life!
  24. I recall seeing that one too. I'll probably need to use E36 rod ends instead of the E39 one as I'm 99% sure the 5er rods are longer. Does anyone have an E36 rack I can use as a test donkey? Stuffed is fine as the guts will be getting biffed anyway. Cheap would be great too
