The load from the alternator is not really an issue. It's reasonably easy to figure out having an engine turn of for a certain period of time leads to small fuel savings

All e70 diesels have DPF AFAIK, was a market option on the last of the e53s too

Cx5 is probably a wee bit above the ionic in general quality, fit and finish The diesel can suffer from premature DPF blockage, and it will destroy the engine. Which i guess happens with all the modern rubbish these days

You need to do side bearing preload also, if you want it to be reliable.

You can pick up ring grinders pretty cheap, but it's a pretty boring task and not exactly a tool you will use often. Mine spends more time being on loan than in my toolbox 🤦‍♂️ in a pinch you can use a diamond file or points file. They will need the block to do them
