  1. Woolf mufflers get recommended on here a lot. http://www.woolfmufflers.co.nz/index.shtml
  2. Stumbled across this today (I don't know the seller) and might be a bargain if picked up cheap enough; http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/wrecked-cars/auction-1108445429.htm Power steering leaks might be the usual worn hoses under the reservoir, and control arm bushings are easy enough to replace, especially if you use aftermarket poly. Seems too good to waste.
  3. Hmmmm more clean hands..... The plot thickens
  4. Where are you finding all these 6 speed boxes?
  5. You mean number 3 here; http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AN56-EUR-07-2000-E46-BMW-330i&diagId=13_0905 Make sure you get the 330 one as I'm pretty sure its bigger than the 320, 325, and 328 one.
  6. I'm curious too how this ended up.
  7. So whats the old motor, and whats the new motor? Is it 1uz and 3uz?

Cool, and which brand of plates do you recommend? I seem to remember you getting this done on your old car. Me and my mate will be doing the reinforcing on his e36 in the next month or two.

How much to do subframe Amber? I presume you mean reinforcing plates, and not bushings?
  10. Are these the error free ones Dave? And where did you buy them from? I'm thinking of trying them too.
  11. Cant believe our dodgy wheel alignment with a tape measure in the dark was as close as it was.
  12. Yes diff will fit fine, regardless of whether the car is a manual or automatic the diff is the same.
  13. Conor has done really well on this following the 'do it once, do it right' mentality. Every single bushing has been replaced included the ones that are not commonly changed; Rear: Subframe bushings. Diff bushings. Inner upper control arm bushings. Inner and outer lower control arm bushings. Rear trailing arm bushings. Rear shock mount bushings. New ball joints on their way. New sway bar and sway bar bushings to come. Front: New control arms, lolipops and tie rod ends. Control arm bushings. New top mounts to come. New sway bar and sway bar bushings to come. Driveshaft was reconditioned. Subframe was sandblasted and powdercoated. Also new guibo, all new rubber spring pads, new brake hoses, new diff fluid, new gearbox fluid, new bolts and nylock nuts. Any scrapes under the car were sanded back and had new underbody sealant applied - luckily there was no rust or damage. Glenn would be proud Tomorrow we will sort out the brakes and exhaust and hopefully go for a test drive. Then when all the reinforcement plates arrive (rear shock mount plates, sway bar plates, subframe plates, rear trailing arm mount plates, front shock tower plates) they will get welded in and Conor will get one hell of a wheel alignment done.
  14. Yes I still have the diff, and I think its 3.46 ratio so will work fine. $100 and its yours.
  15. Did you have to use the bmw tool to remove the fan, or did you use the hammer method?
  16. Sorry this has gone. So has left front guard and all four front indicators.
  17. Yesterday Conor and I stumbled across a worrying problem. The previous owner had used the wrong strength bolts in some locations on the suspension. Some that were meant to be 10.9 high tensile had 8.8 bolts installed in their place. Thankfully we spotted it (as Conor is going through the car very methodically) and they will be replaced with the correct strength bolts.
  18. Unfortunately the radiator in our cars is not something you can scrimp on. The genuine ones last WAY longer than the copies. Expansion tanks fail also.
  19. Seller having three bad feedbacks would concern me.
  20. How are your fingernails clean?
  21. It was hard to tell because the previous owner had installed koni yellow shocks and eibach springs. Weird since he left the rest of the suspension in such terrible shape. Once Conor gets it back on the road (hopefully in the next few days) I'm sure there will be a huge improvement. He has replaced every single bushing - even stuff that is not commonly replaced, so I'm sure it will handle like its on rails.
  22. I can testify that the old bushings, guibo, control arms, tie rod ends and lollipops were in terrible shape. I cant believe it handled as well as it did with all these things so munted.
