Down the rabbit hole we go .....
-
Its a great looking car, remember looking it up when Ray was selling it, it's actually a June 2001 build but registered in NZ 2003, probably not hugely surprising with the size of the NZ market at the time. Would love to get one off the truely last E39s from an 03 build, bet there aren't many about.
-
Now we're in the Naki we'll look to get to a couple of Wgtn meets with the m-sport
-
Yip agree Peter, I went E38 over the E61 550, every time I drive it, it reinforces the decision. Even if it's likely to be less reliable, who cares To ensure I cover the reliability bit, just bought two
-
^^ Agree too many better examples about, and its still a 99 build year so not the last of them, apart from being sport equipped nothing special but lots of issues
-
Worth it for the M-pars and parts only if you can get it for a reasonable price, sounds like its been idle for best part of 5 years. Damn shame being M sport spec
-
Definitely regulator, replaced a couple, not that hard and there are a few you tube videos on it. Just make sure you order the right year as they change in the E39 pre/ post facelift, if you have your build date you'll be fine. Few on trade me for sale usually

Welcome, looks tidy and really sharp in white! Suggest you enter the last seven digits of the VIN into bmwvin.com and you'll get the build sheet and info for it

Nice drive, personally I'd hang out for a 740, but then I've got 2 already LOL Certainly Mspec and my 740 Mspec definitely drives better then the standard. Not quite the same agility as the E39 was but damn fine all the same and more then enough for myself. -
Nice, we got a 2014 cx5 limited diesel and ran 30k up in the first year. Great car and I believe they are even better and now quieter. Great choice. Love that torque that high compression motor pumps out !

I used a long screwdriver against a spanner and leveraged mine up on the E38, almost the same. Wasn't easy though. Certainly a puller tool would be easier but I got it done. Same job, cowl replacement
-
If this is 2005 then it'll be a E65 likely a V8 diesel though but I thought they only went to 745Ds might be rebadged 730 or who knows what the hell it is, look forward to seeing more.

Interislander is so bloody slow, whatever happened to the fast ferries, killed off by the bloody save the whales, bring em back I say And they have the worst web speed in living history, like dial up, waste of time, better to jump your phone. And then you wait for like 40 min to get off the bloody thing when it arrives, and the Blue Bridge is bugger all better. Rant over.

Not interested in a 550 touring?
-
Once you've got it and finished it, apart from a track day blast would it be worth it??
-
Welcome, they are looking great!

Em tough call but I can Se the appeal and the 740 is such a god car, GLWS mate
