Thankfully not for all of us... ?
-
And my experience with a Car Inspection Services PPI was much the same (they did it obo a dealer).
-
Have a look, check out the maintenance receipts (make sure they're for the same car), take it for a good thrash over Haywards and back... and if it drives and sounds ok get a PPI and if that goes well and your loins are fizzing then buy it. And ask them why they spent "Thousands of dollars" on a standard spec 335i?... and whether any of it went on the suspension. If it smells bad for any reason run - and if it doesn't, perhaps it's a fun bargain depending what you want to do with it and your own expectations and risk profile (ie: Kyu's flameproof suit). If it all checks out to your satisfaction and your loins are fizzing then buy it.

That's a stunner! Seems pretty well priced too - on the face of it.
-
I saw Fb ad with a Marlborough rental company selling off what seemed to mostly Ducati Scrambler's (various types)... so if you're in the market for a Desert Sled or similar you could be quids in!
-
My point wasn't "buy a 335i", my point was $8k is strong money for an e91 325i... the 335i mention was merely an illustration of that. And yes - maybe I'm still a little butt-hurt because I had to give away my NZ new e91 330i for $5k and I still miss that car.
-
@balancerider undoubtedly! But... fun/performance/resale... it depends on ones priorities.
-
Price seems high - even if it was an M-sport... you're only a couple of grand away from 335i money.

Back on the Gissa Job wagon again... this is like Groundhog Day. Got a couple of contract extensions last year thru to the end of September which coincided with the discovery of a lump which turned out to be melanoma in lymph nodes... followed by successful surgery, then some radiation therapy... now pretty much recovered and back into the job hunt! Time for a bit of a change me thinks... maybe go back to something permanent - anyways, let's see what comes up in Wellington (or Nelson...) in the next while - I've broadened the search to incorporate pretty much anything (within my rather broad set of skills and experiences of course lol) ?

There's no "right" answer Kyu... insurance write-offs are different over there, BUT as mentioned above, they're not in the business of giving money away for the sake of it either. So - it's simply a matter of ascertaining in Aussie exactly what happened (ideally visually), and the process it went through to get repaired, who repaired it (and where - Aus or NZ?), and who complied it in NZ. Of course you must get it properly inspected here by someone who knows the vehicles - and has expertise in vehicle repair... keeping in mind that vandalism may not be simply a cosmetic fix, there's also electronics/coding to consider (which is often where these repaired write-offs fail). The less information you have, the bigger the risk, and in turn, the lower the price should be... consider the worst case scenario (ie: if your buying privately with no warranty and the car fritzes itself) and whether/how you'd deal with that, however unlikely it is; and then if that price (both purchase and your onsell/trade price) is within your comfort/happy zone - then pull the trigger, it's more likely than not you'll have a happy couple of months/years of ownership. And if not...

Damn, this would be a fantastic weekender for me... hopefully I'll get a job quickly in the new year - though I don't doubt you'll find a home for it sooner, GLWS

Blocked by Discovery... bugger.

Both extremes have been represented... the right number is somewhere in the middle. If it exists (and sometimes it doesn't).

Mondeo Liftback... cheap, reliable, practical...
SmithyInWelly replied to SmithyInWelly's topic in For Sale
I need this gone ASAP. Unfortunately I can't work til the new year and we can't afford to keep/run two cars (and nor do we need to). Would seriously consider any offer beginning with a 4... (and likely accept). -
Due to life circumstances we're halving our fleet and my Mondeo is no longer required - it's pretty much what it says in the ad; for less than $5k it's a good, practical runner that's been well maintained. If anyone wants a reliable run-around to keep the k's down on their M-car; give me a shout: https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2345349627

Ten more weeks and my contract finishes... that came around quick - time to start exploring options again!

I would... what a lovely little cruiser that'd be! GLWP

Holy shite... look forward to getting a cut... and no, it didn't sell for 2.7k... I wish it did lol -
So after my more recent reality check...

I drove an NZ XR5 back in the day - they were quite handy for what they are... pretty scarce tho! Funnily enough I also looked at an Adventra; which was a great 3 metre car... even one metre; but when I drove it... ouch! -

Yup - didn't get much for it but it's gone now ? -

Unfortunately the colour choice was limited to any colour I liked, as long as it was "tango" haha! I'd always found them a half step above a Camry to be fair; but I've not driven one for several years - and it does what it says in the tin and suits my needs for the time being... and it was in such good nick with such a good history, it was difficult to justify something else at this stage. -
Don't look... It drives far better than I expected it would, has a very extensive service history and came from a fussy owner with great presentation - unlike most of the alternatives I looked at... taking it over the Rimutakas tomorrow so interested to see how it goes. And if anyone in/near Wellington has a set of Mondeo 18inch alloys give me a shout!
-
My next car will likely be Japanese... suits my needs, and (lack of) usage. Getting another Bimmer for around $4-5k for a second car is just senseless now - even if it will put a grin on my face when I chuck it over the Rimutakas once a month.

Everything's dropping - I've taken a bath on my e91 330i and my 325ti... reluctant to get another Beemer as it's just flushing dosh down the dunny - at least til I can get something less than five years old so I'll at least get some decent use out of it. Most >10yr old euro stuff is dropping like crazy - not just ours; but jeez it's ugly out there!
