  1. Congrats on the job! Reckon we set up a coffee/beer meet for the 22nd/23rd April.
  2. Damn Just not good. Another classic bites the dust.
  3. That's a bit 'o data! Stacks up very well doesn't it
  4. I only checked in with BMW NZ re airbag recalls - and it was all clear This is still my favourite pic of the 545i:
  5. That really is a beaut. I don't think E39s get any better than that without stepping into an M5. Really hope that goes to a forum member - especially a Welly one ? GLWS!
  6. Dominos is right Super glad it has gone to a good home after pouring in $$ to get it (mostly) the way it should be. After zooming around in it with Richard I had to go drive the M5 (just before midnight ) to remind myself why I had changed. I agree re being careful with the DD - maybe go for the OEM MSport flavour as that should be a known good combination.
  7. I just ordered a new key for my E60 M5 From Winger (formerly Jeff Gray) BMW today - $445 from Germany and coded to the vehicle. More than I like to pay for what is quite a basic thing - but not as bad as some other brands/dealers by the looks of things.

    Hellbm E39 M5

Beautiful! Agree colour and interior rock.
  9. Wow - I missed this thread Bit slow... Owning both an E60 545i non-MSport Dynamic Drive, and an E53 4.4i SportPac on 20" massive wheels (rears are 315s!) here's what I think: I mostly do urban driving with bits of motorway and occasional longer trips 545i is somewhat more fuel efficient at ~14l/100KM and on long distance has averaged <10. X5 urban sits around 17l/100KM and when mixed with some longer distance sits around 15 545i is much faster and handles much better X5 goes pretty damned well and handles well too - all things considered. My brother who has a Toyota Vanguard (stretched RAV 4) thought it was epic by comparison - as you would hope of course. the X5 has a standard quad exhaust that sounds great while the 545i is quiet and refined and needs RPMs to bring out the beautiful sound it can make. Just replaced the front tyres on the X5 275/40x20 RH06 at $400 per corner - decent Hankooks My kids like the M5 most, then the X5, then the 545i. Driving experience is M5>545i>X5. Both vehicles are very safe and great for long distance driving. The E53 X5 was tops safety wise in the Aussie Monash University safety research. The reason I'd go to an E70 would be 7-seat flexibility - and I'd want a MSport. - Pete
  10. The white would look amazing brand new but it just can't say that way Filth happens.
  11. Love these in blue and looks great with M6 wheels - but I think the white interiors look better with the wood trim rather than the silver/alu. Always seem to be a good spread of performance vehicles on the mainland http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1279490922 $31K 119KMs NZ GPS HUD Has had clutch done and SMG actuator replaced Modified exhaust
  12. Welcome and congrats on the purchase John! Love the colour combination ... super keen to drive an E39 and compare it to my E60 Enjoy!!!!
  13. I hadn't looked at the DTMs - and yes they do look good Yes the M5 was a very good deal - the seller has a number of performance vehicles and other priorities came up so it made sense for him. As he has also explained on the other thread he is also planning for his next experience and an E39 M5 looks like candidate #1 I totally wrestled with the purchase - 'Sensible Pete' vs 'Live life like you meant it Pete' Guess who won!!!
  14. 18" or 19" is good on the e60. you can pick up style 123s like mine cheap but you should prob go for some BBS style wheels or some e60 Motorsport wheels if you can wait for them to show up. Crap on the ticket ?
  15. I had mine done on the X5 (by TidyCar) and it was a huge improvement - $150 but no clear coat - they didn't think clearcoating was a good plan for some reason. Anyway, as of today I'm the proud owner of an E60 M5 - Silverstone II with black leather and Alu trim. Epic and ridiculous vehicles. Time to sell my 545i!
  16. Good luck with the job Jeremy!
  17. Hey Ethan and welcome - nice looking E36 - great colour and the 68s go with it well! Look forward to meeting in person.
  18. That seems a pretty reasonable cost including some big rotors. Nice.
  19. Having driven one around a wee bit now I think the sound is fantastic at moderate RPM and downshifts sound great. The high pitched thing only happens when you rev the sh*t out of it (which I haven't done). Would like to hear the Audi tho!
  20. Dude! You're welcome to return to the Mainland I like it here! But your comments on Jville drivers is perhaps not wrong - and the double roundabouts contribute to the problem ; and Ngaio does have very narrow roads and anywhere with houses stuck against hillsides can have damp issues - and Welly has a lot of hills!
  21. Hey Dan - welcome to BimmerSport We've got a road trip on the 26th and I need to organise a coffee meet soon too ....
  22. I think Jville area is a good balance if you need access to both the CBD and the Hutt. Good access to bus and train to the CBD, and renting shouldn't be horrific. One of the good things about Welly (compared to Akld) is the shortish commutes - and that means avoiding the rush hour traffic from the Hutt in the morning and back out there in the PM/
  23. What were the results of the check up Logan?
  24. Looks waaaaaaay better with the wheels back to how they should be. Like the wood tone contrast on the interior. Were the lights re-clear coated or just restored? Heard opinions both ways...
