  1. Problem I guess with any reasonably desirable 20 plus year old car that was once cheap and in bits and now potentially expensive. Very easy for the seller (knowingly or unknowingly) just passing the buck and saying ‘Dunno seems good to me’ or previous owner said xxxxx. No ‘salvage title’ type of record here? The ‘rebodied’ 318i/M325i auction closes tonight I think - interesting if the top bidder goes through with it given everyone can see all the unanswered questions.
  2. Ahhhh missed this or might have been able to snag it before it hit the market
  3. ^^ A red PFL 2 door is a great look but good luck cracking $20k. Another nice looking overpriced PFL - ‘M-Tech’ though? Was there a 323i sport model with the dogleg prior to the Tech 1? https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3725565772.htm
  4. Saw someone had dropped that on the auction - interesting we can now see unanswered questions on auctions? Wonder if that $20k will be removed.
  5. Yeah, was for sale a year ago and got pulled. Screenshots in the September part of this thread. If the correct vin is hiding under the swapped one I guess it could be re-registered / certed / complied? Although assume the correct vin is long dead? Not sure how that all works TBH but looks like at least one bidder is pissed off.
  6. Its reassuring to know all that time in the early 2000's playing Gran Turismo was not in vain.
  7. I think so, guy is being *reasonably* transparent about it and a dollar reserve is probably correct way to go with a car like this.
  8. I see its already hit $20k as well. I presume legally it should be registered as the new chassis with the running gear and swapped over from the dead M325i (although sounds like it is/was a stroker which may or may not be from the original car) with cert for the modifications. I guess he actual chassis vin tag is long gone though. Bit of a funny one, still an awesome car but if the auction goes north of $30k or so owner may be expecting something a little more legit.
  9. Ahhh, was it the one that was listed and removed after someone admitted rebodying it and switching the vin?
  10. $1 reserve M325i? https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3716345687.htm WBAAA12050AE52265 Specs seem to check out - although this is interesting: “At some point in it's life it has had a body swap and therefore sunroof is gone”
  11. @KwS might look at that if I respray (most or all of it) it next year
  12. Possibly, I thought it seemed thick enough. Just an extra step at end of the day I don’t need - E30 is washed probably 2-3 times a month and is covered in Carpro Hydro2 at all times.
  13. I just find it’s quite a bit of faffing around for a car gets kept clean in general (E30). And then when I used it on the absolutely filthy white F31 it’s didn’t really do enough to bother setting up the power washer etc. Will stick to simple two bucket wash.
  14. Tried to love the snowfoam but best thing about it is the pictures / novelty. Anyone in AKL want a free Karcher adaptor and 80% of a big 2.5 litre bottle of Autoglym Polar Blast foam? Pick up Beach Haven.
  15. And as a general update, car has been great - seems to have settled in at 6.5L/100km for our mixed (mainly urban and motorway) driving. Reckon it could do 1000 a tank on a run comfortably though. Got some ‘whiter’ fog light bulbs to install to better match headlights and still need to get around to doing some Bimmercode coding but need to temporarily disable the carplay module first (ugh). I drive my E30 75% of the time but it certainly makes this thing seem like a Rolls Royce!
  16. Went for a Roadtop unit - has been very good and installation instructions were far better than expected. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384217581064
  17. Definitely one of BMWs best ever fabric
  18. That isn't a lot of sidewall TBH and would probably want to be lowered for 19's to look good on an F22. I would go 18's - they look good on the chassis. $4250ish NZD inc duties plus tyres 🤔
  19. This was for sale at Sunday Drive for some time, appears to have been traded to another dealer to have a crack. Lovely car and I personally like (some of the) the mods (Evo bits) - I suspect however the clientele who actually has $100k plus to spend on an old BMW would be wanting something more original. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3710609677?bof=YFwVpH6k
  20. Got a new master and slave cyclinder and back shifting better than before. I will consider myself lucky 😎 Just need to get an AA plus membership now as the Tow cost almost as much as the repair 😬

    Elias' 135i project

This thing is coming together real nice!! Modern classic for sure

    Quick rant thread.

@Vass For the E46 I went with X8R in the UK due to Besian's crazy shipping. Also - are S50 seals the same for M54?
  23. Possibly, will hopefully know this afternoon - if not hydraulic (wishful thinking perhaps) Mechanics first thought was maybe clutch fork. Gut feel is I'll be preparing a for a fair few 'while you're in there' things
