Hi Guys, I am after a pair of small used resonators / mid muffflers in a round shape, stainless etc. 2.25 - 2.5" core is best. 300-400mm in length Look a bit like these sort in the middle of this RS6 exhaust Please let me know if you might have anything and post up a picture. Auckland area is best.

E36: Full suspension refresh - thoughts
Michael. replied to Michael.'s topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Cheers Dave, yeah it sure is... theres a lot too it and unfortunately theres only one way of doing it. Yeah I did the lot, a fair bit of work but easy enough with the right tools, only thing I had professionally done was install the 4.27 gear set in the diff and a wheel alignment. -
While its taken a while, I've finally replaced every suspension component with an OEM replacement part to refresh the feeling of the car back to that new feeling. My E36 finally feels just right, if I think back to how it once was it sure is night and day compared to when I first picked it up, and it was relatively tidy to start with back in 2009 when it had 175,000kms. As of 2014 at 209,000kms Everything is tight and direct, very predictable. Changing the stock E36 to M3 parts is no doubt one of the best upgrades you can do. The whole front has had an M3 EVO upgrade, all original parts such as Lemforder, the only part I haven't replaced is the steering rack which has not yet given any grief. The addition of an M3 cross-brace has also sharpened up the front turn in feel. The rear suspension was the weak link for too long, so this year I stripped the old subframe off, installed M3 reinforcement plates and rebuilt a 328i Manual rear suspension assembly with 17 brand new bushes/links and finished it off with a replacement LSD running a 4.27 gear ratio. For the first time it grips and goes without any fuss or strange behaviour. While a costly exercise (eye watering) it's been an excellent learning curve and I now have a car that rides and drives like it should. If anyone has a BMW they plan to keep for a long time / never sell I strongly recommend giving your pride and joy a suspension overhaul.

They just keep getting cheaper, this is actually tempting

You would want a fairly large back stop of funds and/or tools for a 9 year old V10 M5 thats had it's fair share of use. A good buy if it checks out, but I'm sure there would be plenty of niggly issues. -
Oh I'm keeping it no question! But I just want to keep experimenting with different mufflers I can bolt on and off in 10 minutes. Im having the 335i mufflers fitted this week - I have a feeling they will sound quite good. I am also going to get the RS4 mufflers put back on but closer together so the 4 tips are more in an M3 E46 position, those too will be flanged and 'hot-swappable'

Just 1/4 throttle and brake with both feet haha, joys of a Toyota auto. I need a manual box though, auto is so hard to program just right, especially at low throttle

Nice purchase Nick! Looks like a very attractive machine, I bet it goes well!

Sweet as, cheers for the comments Karl! Inside the car while not droney or anything it's just too loud, I feel like a bit of a twat when giving it a boot full! So I'm gonna give installing an H pipe balancer pipe a go sometime this week, see if that helps to balance the banks and take the noise down a bit. The v8 vantages have a small 1" dia H pipe so maybe I should be running one with my setup too.
-
Oh haha, were you in the Honda Intergra? It sure goes rather ballistic, did it sound quite loud from your perspective?
-
Haha! Awesome pictures Justin. Cleaning it would have been fun......
-
Sweet as, that will be a lot of fun!

New rear exhaust, with temporary tips... Ill probably leave them for a while. But yeah its extremely loud with the bypass valves open, while very quiet with them closed. One crazy setup. image url Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=577i6DhOCeU

Awesome work!

Wow Dave, looks sooooo good mate.

Hmmm it doesn't exactly capture the excitement a CSL engine of yesteryear did, screaming up to its redline. Is it me or does it look too busy, like its trying to hard? Actually reminds me of the IS-F Lexus.
