I thought that was one of the best parts.

Not stopping anyone from building one

G'day. If anyone has a m60b40 or m62b44 block with heads they can sell please let me know. I am interested in getting a long block to measure out just for research purposes. Alternatively I am also willing to pay to 'borrow' the engine for a couple of months so I can do my measuring, after that it can be returned in the same condition, if not cleaner. Let me know here if you can help. Cheers! .

Such a beaut. What one does with such a car is the question though, While I like big cars, you certainly cant have the same fun like a 3 series or 5 series offers.
-
Damn, that is such a good buy.
-
Hahahahahha. That is all. Seriously do it though, you'll love it! I think it's the car you want the 540i to be, but the two just don't quite compare.

Yeah Paul that would have been a good $40-50 actually. In my work corolla I get roughly twice the mileage, Haha
-
heheh, cheers, glad you like it. Where about's where you? I was doing a rather long drive adjusting the gearbox settings, how it kicks down and how aggressive the shifts are. Ended up doing 100kms over half the city!

Recorded this earlier, hardly does it justice but yeah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=objwPDAEhEE&feature=youtu.be

Mmmmmmmmm 840i

Another knob behind the wheel. Clearly going too fast for such a street where Mazda 3 drivers are likely to pull out on ya!

My goodness, what inspiration.

That's ok, seems I'm pretty much sorted at the moment, I put an H pipe in the system which has smoothed out the note so I probably dont need any additional resonators But keep me posted I'll still be keen to see what you have for when I remake the system soon. Yeah C5 RS6 indeed... I forget they are pretty old now!

This is going to be one awesome machine.

I would not recommend driving the car with such a fault.

Sounds like it's pretty much sorted. If you were truly in dire straits I was gonna suggest a Toyota engine transplant to save the day, 2JZ perhaps? -
Can't quite remember but I logged it under a Motorsport license thing so didn't need a cert. Can't quite remember the specifics on the legality but i'd just certify it if I ever did a cage again, easier but more costly.
-
well, funny you say that it actually fell off the window one day when the cage was still in, It took a while before I could be bother climbing in to remount it haha.

Installed an H pipe in the exhaust last night = sucess. No more of the part throttle dirty v8 noise from 1500-4000, it's much cleaner but still has the same aggressive note, if not better. Same for 4000-6500rpm much cleaner overall, quieter which was the intention but still loud. I'll have to get a good recording before I sell my Zoom H4n recorder.

Awesome. 6 hours a week cleaning?! Intense! Interesting that the torque converter had gearbox issues.. was there an explanation?
-
Hmmm I rather miss the half cage I had in my E36 4 years ago

Sweet, yeah I rang your shop the other day, think I spoke to David/Daniel. Let me know what you have, it would be appreciated.

I've found some magnaflow mufflers I can use but just trying some cheaper avenues first. This is my plan for the vantage muffler, fit them on the back like so where there is still lots of room, as a way to possibly take off the harshness of the exhaust note at wide open throttle, I suspect it needs some more damping as its too crackly etc, especially between 2000-3500rpm If it doesn't work enough Ill add in a H or X pipe in the mid section.
