So I need to get my car insured, but to get an accurate figure, it has to be valued according to the insurance company. Could anyone recomend a valuer they have used for their own vehicle with good results? I've searched for a few in the yellow pages & found some, but I think choosing the right one is key with something like this so would to ask around first. Cheers

Very good Elliot - a fine purchase!
-
Welcome, looks like you have scored a great machine!
-
Unfortunately those sort of mods don't really increase it's value to that level I don't think. Each to their own anyway, I guess theres always a buyer for this sort of thing.

Spotted in the Royal Oak Auckland carpark of Pak N Save, a very nice Red E36 coupe in full motorsport trim with some AC add ons, black 5 spoke AC wheels etc. Had plate starting with TS.... I actually left my work card under the wiper with a compliment - anyones car from here perhaps?
-
Yeah the journalism standard here is pretty shoddy.
-
Yeah I couldn't quite work out how they were exactly right... usually replicas are a dead give away!
-
Hah yeah food for thought, a 15k M3 shell less 5k or so for the engine is much more cost effective than trying to tidy up a stock E36 shell to house another engine Of course it's a bit of a downgrade in most people eyes, but in my mind a spruced up V8 transplant would work quite nicely where theres already a full M tec body kit, decent spec interior, M3 suspension and reinforced subframe mount points.

What a beaut. What would the engine and gearbox be worth from that if one were to sell separately?
-
Well, that will be the test wont it. I haven't with this current setup I don't see how it will be too bad on the track, especially having full control of the changes rather than a stock auto. The quick changes encourage less internal slipping so in theory the clutch packs and brake bands should last longer too I've only done this as an experiment and so far so good - but put it this way if I had the extra money it would have been manual!
-
Classic example there Dave ^ just goes to show how poor some peoples judgement is once you get out of the city.
-
If you setup an automatic nicely they can go well - yes manuals are great but they are more expensive as used parts and can be annoying if you also want to daily drive the car. I've got a high pressure valve body in my 5 speed box along with a large trans cooler, it's run by a full custom computer to control the line pressure and shift points. I've also set it up so I can manually shift by using a retro fitted cruise control stick. I have engine brake available in 2nd through to 5th with the main shifter in drive, 1st can engine braked too but the main console shifter needs to be in a lower gear for mechanical reasons beyond the electronic control. The lack of a clutch tends to annoy the manual gurus out there which is understandable, but I like the full throttle changes with quick responsive gear changes at the pull or push of a lever. Its great to have a full automatic mode available that remains civilised at low speed too. On the plus side this cost 2k as opposed to 6k for a standard manual conversion.

Oh totally, I can understand the act of them shooting the shark to help fend it off from the victim. I would have done the same I suppose. Still a horrible situation either way, got to sympathize with the family and those involved.
-
So why did they shoot the shark? If someone ventured into the the wild of *insert country* and was attacked by a *insert wild animal* in its natural habitat does that give the authorties the right to kill? Hmnmmm

Word. How low is that. Ughh.

Yeah, got to be careful, it can be a pretty dodgy carpark, especially the other side. Last week this happened

CSETs E46 M3 outside Wendys in Royal Oak Sunday afternoon Looking very shinny and immaculate.
-
Fitted new airflow meter setup with a dry type filter to replace the nasty oil type. Tweaked the shifting on 2-3rd gear. Running beautifully now. Catching up with the cert guy this week.

Mmm, BBS RCs are amazing wheels.
-
Yeah you don't want that. I've got 80 shore Nolathane bushings front and rear of the engine, it's probably a little harsh, but theres enough give so it's not that bad. Solid mounts would be another matter. Ew!
-
Fark, I'd be livered! I guess it's reasons like this I never park my cars in public areas for long peroids
-
Wow, that must be the same E39 you showed me way back when I still had my V8 Soarer haha.
-
Sounds fantastic. I like that you recorded the rear view, quite an interesting perspective!

A great watch, thanks for sharing Josh -
Yeah it makes you wonder if hes hinting at chassis damage or something else more serious than the compliance issue.
