  1. Hell, thats nasty. Glad all seems ok & there were no significant loses.
  2. Yeah I doubt you could pass that off as a special interest car... They aren't exactly rare in build numbers that model nor significant compared to other BMW models.
  3. Are the 120d models the better option given their sizable torque output?

    What beauties you have!

Agreed... I feel he is just doing this stuff to satisfy his contract now days. The passion is gone.
  6. To increase appeal on the market, I would have returned it to stock (badges and wheels etc) and not included the photos of the M stripes on the bonnet before listing it. Often potential buyers will go for the most stock examples over a modified one, even if the changes are basic cosmetic ones. compared to the current TM listings I think your cars price quite fairly, considering it has the motorsport options which are very costly to install on a stock E39.

I found the segment with the planes 'shooting' their cars a bit pointless - entertaining to some but a whole 10 minute segement of stupidty, plenty of other more car related tests / interesting things they could have done. Then again they are the masters of weird comparison segments now days EHH.
  8. When you say your budget is not huge, what do you intend on spending up to? Yes, this must be taken into consideration when tweaking the exhaust.

I am liking this E34 Kyu, looks good!
  10. I've never seen the appeal of that Mercedes era, dull looking and undesriable in my mind. I loved the W126 series, but the W140 was pretty woeful, of corse the poor quality issues that cropped up just worsen it further. I can actually see why they end up ruined like this, they have depreciated to their lowest point and seem to miss being a proper enthusiast car, if someone wanted a big cruiser of the same era, there are plenty of other better choices, the E38 7er, Lexus LS400, or Audi S8 to name a few.
  11. Mmm I've sat in one and can agree with the quality issues. They are pretty hideous anyway.
  12. Magnaflow mufflers from Ebay are rather decent, stainless with quality packing etc, made in USA. Plenty of size variations etc for you to come up with a cost effective system to get different sounds
  13. Hi Guys, I have a nice pair of Audi RS4 exhaust tips for sale. These run two 2.25" inlets and have a nice smooth angle cut, double wall tip. After $100 for the pair, or $50 if you only want one. These would have been made by Boysen, a German exhaust company. TM Give me a PM if you have any interest.
  14. Agreed! Good taste eh.
  15. This is exactly how a compact can made into a cool car. Good job Steve.
  16. Hey, I'm after some sheets of HDPE plastic in black, preferably with the slight grainy texture on one side Would anyone know where to start looking for such a material or similar in Auckland or NZ for that matter? Cheers!
  17. Interesting. I looked into this when my car had its original M50 engine 3 years ago, seems the only way to do it properly with the bulkier style positive displacement chargers is to bin the stock manifold that takes up a large area and make up a new one to get the charger in a better position with support brackets etc. Quite a bit of work is involved to get it all working reliably without any drawbacks I think, but I question whether or not they are as effective as the centrifugal units also available. With 2.5 PSI or so you're probably only just making enough power back that has been a parasitic loss cranking the charger around. I used to be in favor of superchargers but in most cases a turbo setup is more cost effective & efficient than a supercharger setup.
  18. Yeah there are some messed up registration names. I always like it when someone mixes them up completely Like A Toyota Soarer being a Lexus Soarer or something stupid.
  19. Looks pretty good, better than some examples with half the mileage. Testimate to the owners care I suppose.
  20. Interesting, I would have thought there would be a BMW M 'Classic' division that would keep such stocks available... Perhaps in time when there's demand a supply will emerge?
  21. That is a fun collection of cars you have there Brent!
  22. The new car 3 year check is questionable to me.. My work car is a 2008 Corolla, used as a fleet vehicle for a company, it had done nearly 300,000kms by the end of the 3rd year, yet becuase of the age it would have been exempt from having a WOF during that time when a lot of things could go wrong over that time. Ok, it would have been maintained as its a fleet vehicle but its another matter if it was a privately owned high mileage new car where the owner was lackluster with their checks.
