  2. Buy a polisher. It will remove marks you’ll most likely never move by hand.
  3. 540i M-sport / M540i / 540i LE[edit] 540i with "throwing star" wheels Because the M5 was discontinued for non-European markets in 1993, the 540i M-Sport model was built in 1995 for the North American market.[28] On top of the regular 540i features, additional features included sports suspension equipped with EDC, bolstered sport seats, servotronic steering, and US-spec M5 brakes.[29] 205 "M-Sport" models were built, 139 of them with the 6-speed manual transmission.[28] The M540i model was sold in Canada. It includes the features of the North American 540i M-sport, plus upgraded Euro-spec M5 brakes, 18-inch M-parallel wheels, and various trim pieces.[30] Only 32 of these cars were built, all with a manual transmission.[28] The 540i LE (ie. Limited Edition) sedan was sold in Australia[31] and the United Kingdom.[32] The 540i LE included the interior from the M5, "throwing star" M-System II wheels, EDC suspension with self leveling rear, Servotronic power steering, and front air dam. 70 of these 540i LE sedans were produced, all with a manual transmission, each individually numbered and identified by an engraved metal plaque stuck onto the centre console beneath the handbrake lever. Good old wikipedia, think 20(?) came here and I have seen a blue one with "is" on the badge.
  4. Yes and there is a section on TM too that shows if it was imported as damaged. Although interestingly, Primax Cars (one of the main importers of damaged) has that information unavailable on their TM listings but do declare it in the text.

  6. https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/cc11082 With about 110km on the clock.
  7. That was the two things that got me. The effort involved to do such a poor job and how they got it in stock.

    E36 Wagon

There's one on FB for $5k.
  11. There's a few. A mate of mine imported one years ago as a money making scheme. Not sure that worked out.
  12. Pffft. Bridgestone. Stripped my lock nut in 40sec with a rattle gun (that I had used the day before in perfect condition), refused to accept they had done it, refused to help get the now stuck on wheel off and suggested I go to Mag and Turbo. Would never set foot in there again.
  13. Try Brugar Engineering., he will tell you if he can or can’t and does nice work.

    There’s a dereg 328i on FB.
  15. Great write up and work! I don’t know if you’re inspiring me or terrifying me to do something with mine.
  16. Ours got written off at 215k from memory with one $900 repair and servicing. That’s Nz new with a history, I’d take a punt if you could chip him. id say an m50 b25 wouldn’t be that far off a 3.5 and would be way more efficient.
  17. Faster too...... https://trademe.nz/motors/cars/bmw/740i/listing/2309760786
  18. What about a 730i/740i V8? We had one years ago that was as reliable as a Swiss watch and economical for what it was, I’d wager better than the old 6.
  19. Geez, from what I’ve heard about the N46b20, I thought they’d be out of stock.
  20. Try dropping a Mazda 3 hatch on your toes.
  21. There is a difference between facelift and pre, compression and engine management from memory at least.
  22. Could you get the e36 cable out at Pickapart? I had a 540i battery in my e30 that was an easy fit.
  23. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-stereos/amplifiers/2-channel/listing-2309447307.htm?rsqid=b910e91c32954ec3b74be1b015ea4a53-004 This is reputedly capable of pushing a pair of subs bridged. And good quality.
