I think you will find the rear shock isn't the limiting factor, it is the chassis at the front of the rear wheel wells. That is where mine touched anyway when I test fitted some 265/625 dunlops. With the 240/625's there is ~10mm clearance (static) on the inside to that spot on the chassis. *could well be a 2dr Vs 4dr thing even*
-
Not with-out "paint on" tyres you can't. NZV8 240/625's on 17x9's fit the E30 nicely. The 240 slicks actually ran narrower (across the thread) than the 245/40 Conti SCII's I had for the road.

I've Run 17x8's with 245/40's on PFL arches with only the lips rolled in the past.

I recall looking into that yrs ago, IIRC there was a E32 that has a 4.27 large case diff. I'll have the link saved somewhere, all the E46 M3 guys in the US were all excited and swapping their R&P's for them. You'll have the 3.08 at the moment won't you Brent??
-
Something like this Brent would fill the gap. Flowmaster HP A single 2.5" might be a bit small, but you could always put 2 beside eachother being 4" thick. Also have a look at magna flow mufflers. With want you have done to the motor, it seems a shame to not have some nice headers and free-flowing exhaust.

Thank goodness. Speaking of which, keep that FI goodness coming Steve!!

I like also. Just drop the front for a bit of rake and a bit more -ve camber up front (M3 strut-tops swapped L to R should do it)

You can still use the hydro handbrake when you have pedal pressure applied, it just adds more pressure. The drift boys seem to be all over these E36 second rear caliper bracket E30 second caliper bracket
-
That's not quite right. The brakes as a whole are still fully functional.. You do however feel the hand brake application back through the pedal. The negative of this is it can upset your brake application, although its a bit of a moot point as you're not likely to be threshold braking if you're about to yoink on the handbrake are you!!!! *GLENN * MASSIVE in Canada do extra caliper mounts for E30 & 36 for the drift guyss.

From what I've read, the Alloy M52 with steel liners were post sept-98 and designated TU-3 Earlier M52's were either, iron block (ie. US market) or Nikasil treated AL blocks (ie. no liners). Presume it was after the TU-3 they went to the Alusil bore treatment for the E46 3'er production. How far below the deck is the top of the liner? and how would have the original head/gasket sealed? Are you using the M54 piston/rings/rods or the M52?

E34/32 are notorious for the front end shimmy from the rear control arm bush. That would be my first port of call to check. Adding the spacer has likely exacerbated an existing issue. NB. All wheel spacers need to be certified and are to be hubcentric. Not having either means your vehicle does not meet WOF standards and will be a problem if you have a prang. Also, 225/55, is that not one size too tall? 225/50 would be a more appropriate sive for the E34, not sure but if the lower profile being squarer on the rim may mean you don't need the spacer?? E38 has the same centerbore as the E34 = no hubcentric rings required (only the E39 has odd ø74mm CB). And no, you can't use a hubcentric ring to locate the spacer on the hub. I had some 6mm ones made that fit the ø72.5mm hub and have a bevel on the back. This left enough of the hub for my particular wheels to mount hubcentrically still. The others I have are 15mm hubcentric.

That's what I figured!! Get the welder out!!

Anything with hinges is just for bling... Build your own. Have a look at the 1pc sparco bars for the E30 chassis for some inspiration. Or even the Mason & Rouge Engineering bars for the E46 Mason Aluminium E30 Sparco. NB how it has a 3rd mount down the side of the tower also.
-
are you running OE E36 M3 rims?? 7.5" front & 8.5" rear ?? if so, 225/45 front & 245/40 rear are the factory sizes. the 3.0l M3 ran 7.5" all-round with 235/40's. the other E36 OE 17" wheel options (other than the 2 above) were generally 225/45's on 17x8"rims.

Does it have a listing for 'crash bolts' for the upper mount? Whiteline used to sell eccentric bolts, but I couldn't find them last time I looked (several years ago).

BBS RC - 17x8.5" et13

These guys' had them a while back: NZAD on TradeMe But only have E36 M3 ones listed at the moment, might still be worth a call?
-
Nice!! The wife has one in the RS200. What are you plans for attaching to the BMW motor? Cut'n'Shut the mounting flange or a plate adaptor?
-
Looks like an AZ6 from a Toyota (J160) Also found on S15 Sylvia, S2000 and MX-5's (all with different front/bell housings).

What is the offset of the Genuine E46 M3 18" wheels?
E30-323ti replied to swordfish's topic in Wheels & Tyres
IIRC 47 front (18x8) 28 rear (18x9) -
he has even got the 206 WRC vertically mounted turbo thing going on.
