  1. More detail / source please. I rode for many year, first road bike was a Suzuki GF250 (basically a bikini clad gsxr). Never missed a beat and wasn't as revvy/peaky as an actual gsxr was a great commuter. Then went onto a '91 FZR400RR which was one of the easiest bikes I have ever riden (fast), also commuted well, but the posture was terrible for traffic (heels up your a**hole & wrists by the front axle) and would get sore arms. Open road (rimutukas!!) it was awesome. Decided I didn't want to get killed going to work (or have time to enjoy the open road) so sold it and used the train, sad I know, but getting to work isn't that important. Seriously reconsidering & always trawling the bike on TM Still having a Learner License (yes I know & had it for +15yrs), is a real kicker with the current 250cc limit. It is also a crock, as you can legally ride an RGV or RS 250 with ~65hp, which would be the worst commuter in the world, but you can't ride a practical GS550 or old school CB400 / SR500. And equally infuriating is all the <250cc bikes are silly expense. I guess the easy answer is just get my A into G and get a full license. Not a very constructive post sorry. But interested to see what you come up with. My current bike of interest is an RG 150, has a bit of mo-jo @ ~38hp and easy to maintain single cyl 2-stroke. But I keep an eye open for an old suzuki X5 or X7.

    Project Boat

Nope, as that would be a 'BARGE'
  3. Prob. a bit of a premium due to their low volume in NZ. E34 offset wheels would be a cheaper alternative.
  4. Best I have seen on E38's are: 20" Alpinas' 19" BBS CH's Both were 10" in the rear IIRC If they are a good 'fit' then 19's or 20's look tits.
  5. Sh*t happens... and often don't feel that different under 'normal' conditions. We use to use a small Nissan truck (3500kg) to tow the rally car, trailer brakes got burnt out on the downhills from Napier to Gisborne (truck had an engine brake), and you couldn't even tell the trailer had no brakes for the rest of the trip or back to Wgtn. IIRC that combo was around 6 tonnes loaded, bit naughty on a 'car' license. A friend of mine used to tow horse floats, but she got her HCV and now has a truck and can take 3 horses (I think) plus heaps of gear / kitchen-ette esp. for the boy racer in his pimp'd out forester whose lips you just dragged off.
  6. Sounds very wrong IMHO. FYI that is more than a 200 series landcrusier (which has a full chassis & weighs over 2.5 tonne). Happy to be proved wrong, but I would be wanting a copy of the certification from BMW stating the above should you have an accident. As you can imagine a 1800kg X3 with an unbraked 1800kg trailer adds up to a pretty unsafe combo should you jump on the brakes in an emergency. If you add the above up you get a Gross Max Vehicle weight of 4,400kg. Be very carefull you don't over load anything as +4,500kg = HCV license req'd. And if you think they will never check.... you'd be surprised.
  7. I was half tempted to re-home all my running gear into a compact, just weren't any cheap/appealing enough at the time, so now I've got an E30 with the engine stuck most of the way through the firewall  You might also like this thread for some ideas maybe?? Compact Rally Car Build
  8. Had a decent 'code brown' through that long right hander last trackday I went to. The E30 runs flat through there (3rd & 4th gear) until the rear tyres get a bit hot, then it's an odd view out the passengers window... That and spending some time with an instructor on single apex-ing Dunlop. Right leg starts to spasm wanting to get off the gas Instructor: keep your foot up it Driver: Faaaarrrrkkkk I wish this thing was slooooow
  9. Ditto, a 13" MacBook Pro. I've had a 13" MacBook since early 2007 and is still going strong, used as a media type server connected to HD TV via mini-DVI to HDMI cable, also run a Elgato Hybrid HD Tuner / PVR (which is awesome). Only gripe is, mine is an early model and has the weak case (where your right hand sits on the case using the track pad) and the DVD drive went south. Still gets an easy +3hrs running simple stuff off the battery.
  10. Does there need to be a point?? Would be less of a pig than a 300hp E30 I bet!! [flamesuit] Let alone a fwd french hatchback... [/flamesuit]
  11. Nice choice!! Are they off an E38 (Tyre/Rim Size suits) ?? Might pay to check as the Centre-bore is different to an E39 E39=74.1mm E38=72.6mm

    vtech tool box

If only we still had our old civic run-about, could get my 2yr old to do all the maintenance/mods...
  13. I think it would look good without spacers on 225/40's with those wheels. And still drive/handle nicely. You also aren't going to get much stretch out of anything on an 8" rim (not very wide) unless you went way undersize like a 215/35, even then...... **nah**
  14. Did you also have an BBS E24 center for sale?? Just the one (silver)?
  15. Cool Vid, and thanks again for sharing. The M5 is certainly impressive, you can see that 507hp working, looks like he hooks 3rd or 4th and it just pulls into the distance But it is boat compared to the S50'd E30!
  16. 2.2m and def. wasn't any form of running I have ever seen...
  17. Looking sharp... E34 def. need a bit of rake, get that front down a bit!!
  18. Some deals here: PALMSIDE

    V6 MINI

Agree is need min. of 8cyls, I was thinking one of those 'radical' 2.6l V8's that use the suzuki Hyabusa block/heads. I think you will find the Ozzie's probably did give some steer in the direction Herbert Austin took his design/engineering: Herbert Austin but not directly in the mini I guess...

    V6 MINI

Looks like a Lotus 7 with an Austin Mini coat on + a roof chop. I think I like it.... ... but not the wire whels/knock-offs
  21. Ditto, and more pics.... AND are they for sale, now that your E36 is.....
  22. Are you sure about that..... Might pay to double check. The norm. seems to be ~270-280rwhp, thats with some decent cams (Sunbelt) on a tuned S52B32US. BMWCCA IP class engines. Example 1 NB comments re: fully Built S52B32US ~300rwhp I recall another thread re: WHP of a Euro E36 M3 on here even, and a video of one on the dyno, it put out 187rwkw (~250rwhp) stock, I don't think a BMW parts bin M50B30 with regrind cams and no tuning is going to come up that high (well above what is essentially going to be a S50B30US), even ignoring the area under the curve benefits.

    E36 M3 Sedan

Looks good!! Needs a bit more Camber in the front to tuck the top of the tyre a little (and of course, more importantly, add a bit more bite/grip).
