    BMW Airbag Recall

Dealer replaced mine about 6 weeks ago on the E46 M3 . That will explain it.
  2. lol , I'd probably go broke if I did based on time taken Controller for the Carpc arrived today. Will be my version of idrive to control the PC. Probably change it's colour to black and the blue LED to orange to match BMW lighting.
  3. Wasn't happy with the RCA mods I'd originally done to the Bm53 tuner module . One of the wire connections had broken free. Redone with RCA panel sockets and cable ties .Added remote trigger wire running off aerial power / factory amp on fet output (Pin 13 of main BM53 connector) Will use it to power on one relay that will in turn power on 2 amplifiers and the 3.sixty.1 processor.
  4. Go for Mdf rings to space out 6x9 . You might need a couple of sets to get the basket clearance. Bolt these to the deck to help avoid rattles. 6x9s can sound good depending on quality .
  5. My guess is s/h e60 m5 and a few e90 m3 in the price bracket where E46 M3 owners would consider an update. Mind you, I know of two people that haven't gotten over selling their e46 and have gone back. 100,000 km seems a problem for some people yet these cars will have likely had the more expensive services done such as shims and rotors. In which case they fall back to e46 320i servicing costs.
  6. Originally had the tray hard up against the foam insert. Trimmed to allow an RCA from iphone to plug into PC aux. The lid height will sit about 10 mm below boot board level so little chance of weight transfer from anything heavy that gets put in boot.
  7. Spent time over weekend on car pc rack. I with either cover the lid or use factory fabric pannel to cover. Hopefully the netbook will run cool enough without the use of addition fans.
  8. CarPC for media playing in M3. just need to finish lid
  9. Many of the seat sections you'll also find the leather will unclip for the sections and can be transferred to cloth seats and vice versa. I found this when I converted my rear seat to a ski hatch version. Ski hatch was cloth , so unclipped and change over existing leather. Sometimes on ebay you'll see the leather coverings for sale which gives you another source of leather options.

    Earthquakes

Mild shake here , The fire flue was rattling away. Wife who was standing missed it.
  11. I've used those touch up sticks but didn't know half this stuff was available. Have been after the wheel shadow chrome combo for a while now. Also looking for the Steering wheel titanium trim colour and the rubber finish. Great info here !
  12. Looking forward to being able to afford one in a decades time. Been a fan of turbo BMW since a drive of a friends x6m. None of this waiting for 6,000 rpm on my current N/A one. These turbos have oomph from idle. M4 looks to be a great car. Looking forward to driving one at some stage.

    E46 M3 Wagon..

Looks like an insane amount of HP. Rumours are that one might be built in Wellington. My bike did that hole bang / flameout thing for a while . A bit embarrassing really .

    Schumacher

No doubt his family will be happy to have him out of a coma and into recovery. Hopefully he still has access to the best of the F1 medic team for recovery.
  15. Forgot to update. The Vic's aerial only produced a low bluetooth signal when connected to the ULF. The phone would drop out at about 2 meters from the aerial. Connecting the ULF to the shark fin aerial works well. The phone (iphone 5s) works well inside the car and out. I can use the hands free from the car parked in the garage with the phone sitting the house.
  16. late 2000's Alpine head unit with a 701 / 800 processer should give 5.1 Pro logic 2.0 from the stereo feed from the TV. Add a 2 din unit centre speaker. 701 /800 will also take a optical feed from a DVD/Bluray player if you wanted to add one (Dolby 5.1 / DTS 5.1).
  17. 0.2 ! A certain Vince Martin chain in Wgtn did tyres and wheel align on the wifes car. Left side 0.5 neg camber , right side 1 degree after. Told within spec (for oval racing maybe). Also got random size valve stems and 3 different styles of caps and fourth missing (had brass ones before) Lesson learnt. DIY or specialist for tyres and wheel alignment.
  18. Like the concept and wonder if the engine made it's way back into latest gen m cars. Those rims would be a PITA to clean. Reckon a 2 speed auto would be all that is needed with 700nm on tap.
  19. Wife likes her 328i. Reckons it has safe overtaking power. I'd go with a bit more power so you don't get a shock when you drive her car and her in yours.

    E46 M3

I'd look at this being a lowish km M3 with about $8k plus of well chosen aftermarket parts. Those apex rims weight next to nothing.
  21. Trimit.co.nz Seen some of there jobs on custom bike seats. I'd say they would be more than up for the job.
  22. You may have already cover these areas but I'd check the following The alarm should be connected to a constant power rail , not an ignition circuit that drops after sleep mode. Does the alarm module rely on some kind of rechargeable battery that has failed that keeps the memory running (like cmos batteries on PC motherboards of yester year) What remotes are you using , bmw factory or aftermarket alarm ( Clown noise is infrared btw ) Depending on remote you might be running infrared or 433mhz radio Are you using a factory or after market alarm ?
  23. The second diagram that's been floating around the internet is for a late 2002 and on manufacture date of the BM54 which was when the aux feature was added. It was futher enhanced later on to understand cd text and mp3 Id tags when the stacker appeared on the scene . It is possible to take the inputs board from a later broken bm54 and re - soldier it into an existing one to gain aux. one of the roms can also be re flashed to gain mp3 tag support. However , it's not an easy DIY and I'd go Denison bt lite for aux and bt support .

    HID lights E36

I have similar issues to Paul , often get the full beam flash from oncoming drivers and the single finger stalute sometimes when passing. The factory e46 has quite a pronounced lift on the left. However , these are the best headlights I've driven with including some of my older cars with 100 watt spots .

    E46 M3 Exhaust

M3's have half the tyre well deleted so the exhaust can fit up under the rear apron behind the bumper. I doubt it would fit without extensive modding.
