  1. These are the infra red type of keys. With the darker jap glass they work best through side windows or front windscreen. You also need to be in line of site of the clown nose with is the red plastic lenses under your rear view mirror. That is where the infrared receiver is.
  2. Brought a Ulf for Bluetooth and voice navigation . My E46 has the Japan telephone interface and eject box and still has the vics aerial. I intend to reuse use the vics aerial for Bluetooth. Was reading a guide on a Ulf conversion on a e39 and noticed the wiring loom colours are different. Does anyone know if the pin positions are the same regardless of colours ? If not has anyone mapped the Japan telephone wiring interface on the e46 ? Would save me the time of going through the WDS diagrams to map old to new.. If not I'll write it up.
  3. Don't mention tyres then ...... d'oh ..... to late.
  4. I've been known to give non smg owners a bit of education. Hard to go back to cars with a manual clutch after owning one.
  5. Anything that blocks heat dissipation from the calliper should be banned. A Darwinist accessory if I've every seen one. Fashion meets stupidity.
  6. Same colour ..... nice car. Did you notice the re55s run out are around half price at the moment ? roughly 1400 per set. Cheaper and stickyer than re11 s !
  7. Looking like an interesting sub you've got. Found this video to be a good demo on how to do the front in fiberglass. Has a good way of producing the baffle. Second link is a youtube channel which is great for the guys ideas and techniques http://youtu.be/G8cz_ http://www.youtube.com/user/CarAudioFabrication/videos
  8. Nice M3 !. Welcome to the 300 plus club.
  9. Italian job. Scene where Ducati 748r is dropped.
  10. Another option is Denison lite. You can add an adaptor that shares cd stacker connection. Bluetooth is also an option with it. Hard drive of up to 250 gig can also be added.
  11. Have a similar issue with the M3. I brought a couple of those rubber door matts made out of shredded truck tyres. Now have about 3 mill clearance on the front but only if I reverse in. You could cable tie a couple to it. Btw, you have tried reversing in ?
  12. Probably get laughed at. But I've just spent a couple of days using a cheap mothers polisher on the wifes e36 and the difference was night and day. The good thing about it was that it would be hard to cut through the paint and into the primer as it lacks absolute power and is reasonably gentle. Was still able to get deep blackberry scratches out and removed some of the patching that was occurring in the clear coat. Downside was that it probably took twice as long compared to units mentioned so far.
  13. The Yokohama a509 were one of the better tyres I tried on my e30. They are a 1990s design but grip and wear was good.
  14. Shelly's used to look after my fathers Triumph 2500 pi in the 1970s. I took my e21 323i to them in Wakefield circa 1988 and from memory the showroom was relatively new then.
  15. I think its good news. Been taken out by a drunk driver on HW1 , still remember the screaming from the girls after the impact, having to revive one of them, the dash board exploding as my mates knees when through it despite wearing a seat belt. The mess in the other car with the passenger that wasn't wearing a seatbelt , rib cage broken and barely breathing,The driver with his broken nose realising the carnage that he'd caused. Having to hold back a mate from beating the living daylights out of the driver after we revived his girlfriend. The traffic backed up as far as I could see and the long wait for the ambos . Not sure if this new laws will change much but due to personal circumstance I'm for it.
  16. Rewired e36 stereo to use head unit amp after removing amp and sub last year. Wife needs every cm of boot space with little one. Fuel gauge has been random of late. Pulled out fuel pump and checked wiring again, nothing found , reassembled but fuel gauge working again
  17. Falling Andy doing it check out Final Touch in Wellington.

    Weekend Car - M3

IPod integration can be done via dice or Denison gateways. They replace the cd stacker and allow iPod control via head unit. Denison has Bluetooth option for hands free calling via phone. Alarm is optional , if jap import there is a good chance its doesn't have pre wiring. If nz new it may be pre wired which means adding alarm system is start forward. Just a case of getting tilt sensor , interior ultrasonic transducer , bonnet switch and alarm siren. Easy ish to install yourself but the system will enabling at a dealer or specialist. Jap version without pre wire will take quite a bit of time to install. Wiring paths means pulling interior and head lining apart and routing various bits around the car. Check door connector for mirror operation issues as a starting point.

  21. Routed some 4 gauge cables for the amps
  22. You can get the batteries from the dealer. Allan , the diamond shape key will charge off the induction coils in ignition , be sure to make sure the key has had some time in the ignition . The sync setting is different for the diamond shaped http://youtu.be/3YcFN3Ns0yI Did you transfers the gm module / ews from your 325i into your ti ?
  23. Best thread on bimmersport . Awesome guys !
  24. And you did press the unlock button three times after the 15 seconds hold down ?
  25. At Hastings get off shw2 and onto Middle road towards wiapukarua. Then take route 52 to Masterson. Its a favourite for us weekend motorcycle types wanting to do lots of corners. Don't count on getting gas on route 52 and it also has a small amount of gravel at one point only.
