  1. Hi All, I originally joined the forum when I bought my 2008 130i MSport back in December 2019, but forgot to post to introduce myself. Anyhow the 130i is my 4th BMW, and it is way the better and more enjoyable car to drive. The 130i are meant to be driven.
  2. Hi all, Here’s my Topaz blue 2002 E39 540i M Sport. Picked this up from @hqstu three months ago and have since completed over 6,000km. The condition of this vehicle is a testament to extensive work completed by HQSTU previously documented on his e38/39 Central DHB post. Certainly surprises people when you tell them it now has over 296,000km on clock. With all the big jobs already completed by HQSTU very little work has been required. Replaced number 8 coil with genuine BMW coil but after another coil failed the following month I decided to replace the remaining 7 original coils with new matching Bosch coils, this time from FCP. Replaced the rain light sensor (RLS) to restore function of the auto wipers, $32 from Pick a Part. A few other things to sort. There’s always something to fix on a 20 year old BMW.
  3. on the hunt for a reasonably tidy somewhat low Ks e46 330i sedan or wagon, preferably wagon. will pay a premium for factory manual and low ks however unlikely, converted manual is ok as long as ZF and certified not in a rush to buy and happy to wait for the right car Big plus if under 130,000 kms, dark interior, all the problematic maintenance records eg. rear subframe reinforced, gaskets, control arms ect. Could go upto $15-20k depending.

  6. Hey guys I’m new here. I’ve had my car for just over a month now. It’s recently started to die on me every now and again. I called AA roadside for a jump start this past Wednesday. The guy told me the Volts were on complete 0. I couldn’t unlocked my car, open the boot. Or do anything without the Manuel key. I bought a battery charger on the same day. I charged it half way and let it off as the charger got very hot. I left it off over night and now (the next night) I have checked it and the car is again at 0 Volts. I plug in the connections and it won’t read anything but light up ‘Stage 1’ and there is a non stop clicking noise coming from the passenger seat near the glovebox. The parking gear light is flashing rapidly and so is the glovebox. The door lights too. What causes this? Please let me know ASAP!
  7. After a e38 msport in good condition 740i-750i msport cashed up ready to roll.
  8. Selling on behalf of my sister who has owned for the last 2 years. This is her 1998 328i coupe in Montreal Blue. Full factory M-Sport package with partial leather seats. Currently at 142Km. 10. I originally missed out on buying this Touring when it came up for sale in October (and settled for this instead). It sold within a couple of hours of it being listed on Trademe to a friend of the seller, despite the seller promising me the car was mine after I had negotiated to buy it sight unseen... To my surprise it came back up for sale on Trademe just before Christmas. Once again I pounced, and this time I was successful in acquiring it. So, the car: NZ New E46 330i Motorsport Touring (1 of 4 NZ New examples so I am told). Sapphire Black. 207km. Facelift. Leather electric seats. No mods other than the TSW Valencia wheels (great fitment but not my taste...will be changed in due course). The seller had mentioned that the shocks were due for replacement, and this was confirmed on the first Auckland to Coromandel drive over the new year break. Compared to my lower km E46 325i MSport, the car lacked dampening and felt considerably harsher (partially due to the 18" wheel/tyre combination). A set of adjustable Koni Sport shocks have been ordered to tighten things up and provide rebound adjustability if and when so desired. After that, a set of Style 68's or other OEM BMW wheels will replace the TSW's. Cosmetically the car is in great condition given the mileage. I have started a deep leather clean and condition on the interior (Pears soap method) which is lifting an unbelievable amount of grime from the leather. A time consuming process, but ultimately worth it!
  11. After a set of wheels for an E46 MSport Touring - preferably OEM i.e Style 68's (factory E46 MSport wheels), or other MSport styles considered such as Style 135's/193's/194's etc. Will also consider reputable aftermarket brand wheels too. The OEM wheels don't necessarily have to be from the E46 chassis line; just something that looks the part and are in good condition.
  12. Hey guys. I've found another project car, so up for sale is my beautiful E39 540i Msport on genuine BBS wheels. This car has an amazing history of maintenance and receipts totalling $25k+ Car has done 188,000kms, this will go up as its my daily. Major things that have been replaced/repaired are: - The tiptronic trans has been rebuilt - $5k receipt - Cooling system has been replaced - $2k receipt ** Timing chain tensioner has been replaced - this is an important one, not many E39's for sale out there that have had this taken care of. - Belts have been done within the past couple of years. It's very tidy inside and out and drives beautifully. The leather is in great condition. Has the factory head unit but has had after market speakers, amp and sub installed, sounds very good. All windows work, sunroof works perfectly and the rear pop up blind works great too. A previous owner has installed an oil catch can and deleted the rear muffler, the car sounds lovely with a few pops and crackles on decel, but not obnoxious. Things that I would look into if I were to keep the car are: - Very slow oil leak - I think this is coming from around where the oil catch can has been installed, if not it's probably a seal. The amount of oil is very little. 3.9k ONO. Test drives are welcome and encouraged. Car is located in Glenfield. --- Note: car will come on BBS wheels in the first image. Cheers.
  13. $9,499 ono. Great XMAS gift Moving overseas in a couple of weeks, so I really need to sell this. 6 cylinder Tiptronic 3 Series with M Sport trim, wheels and body kit. Internally, comes with iDrive. Yes the BMW system with stock built in screen, not the after market addition some dealerships add in. Maps and TV do not work because it has the original Japanese based system but it does have a fully functioning radio with the NZ bandwidths and a 6 CD stacker in the boot. Tyres are run flats and the car will come with an unused refill can. I'll chuck in the phone holder and AUX cable, both pictured. M-Sport trim is included as pictured. 157,000 kms (at the moment). WOF and Rego due in Jan 2018. Full disclosure: > The wheels are all silver. The car just needs a wash. Wheel finish is a tiny bit worn in places and there is a little curbing from the previous Japanese owner but not extensive > Currently one of the right headlights has just stopped working (as pictured). I took it into a Euro mechanic and he found that it was the ballast behind the headlight that needed replacing, rather than the bulbs (which I tried initially). I have found a replacement ballast, I just have no time with all of our planning to take in to get swapped out, so will happily supply with the sale. To be clear, the high beams and halos work, it's the standard light that has failed. > I was backed into on the left rear bumper. There is a small graze and rippling of paint in this section (as pictured). > Rear tyres will need replacing, I just passed the last WOF. I'm not a hoon, a gift from the previous owner but have never found any grip issues. Feel free to ask any questions

  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1309637601 The seller Tim also owns an E34 M5 "Must have had bushes and steering done recently as handles better than my E34 M5 and rides real firmly on the highway". $4K 182K Miles (UK import) 8-series wheels Black leather (recently coloured)

  18. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1300475326 $9.5K - steepish for an E46 MSport? but .... NZ New, 3 owners 108KMs Leather interior Looks to be in great condition and well serviced ... and love the colour. Always better if it was a 330i but this would be a beaut daily driver.
  19. http://www.turners.co.nz/Cars/Search/BMW/5-Series/15890906 Estimated $6500-$8500. Has 200KMs on it but pretty tidy and: Power steering fluid below low Oil leaking under engine power steering area Bonnet gas strut broken Reckon this could/would be a bargain subject to inspection. I like my E60 but wish I'd gone for a MSport from an aesthetic point of view. Tempting!
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1203579156 186kms, some display fade but tidy! Currently price is sitting at a tad over $4k... and auction closes in a week.
  21. Hey guys up for sale is my E36 msport manual coupe. Reason for sale is I have too many cars and the wifey isn't happy. Details: 270,000kms Leather interior with the sought after leather doorcards (in fantastic condition, no peeling) Has near new M3 bilstein's (done less than 5,000kms) Can come with the Rieger GT front lip, but needs repairs as it's been cracked in two (debris on motorway took it off) Drives beautifully, no mechanical issues, gearbox is smooth with no crunches. Cons: Headliner is sagging as is usual with most E36's Drivers side window not working, needs new reg/motor Steering wheel leather is starting to crack, could do with a replacement. $6,500 ono, reasonable offers considered, may be interested in swaps + cash my way (just don't tell the wife ). Will come with Wof and Rego for new owner. Note: comes with ACS wheels, not the Style 42's as seen in photo 3. Cheers.
  22. Forgotten glory and long list of problems. Sad to see in this condition. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1076751657 Would be a good project for someone with plenty of time (not me).

  24. So picked this up from Dunedin and drove back to Morrinsville over a couple of days. Wow what a drive, 1500 kms with a mixture of boring straights, amazing scenery, mad hairpins, wicked roads, mental tourists and flickering traction control lights Special thanks to Mason in Dunedin for checking it out for me, LEGEND! Replacing the E500 as the daily driver. Will use this as a bit of a record of works etc. as they come up. So to the details: M62TUB44 540i, Steptronic box Production date 26.07.1999 , Jap export version, first registered NZ 2008 Colour: Biarritzblau Metallic (363) M-Sport Package, sports suspension II, told M5 rear bumper/ Mirrors and M5 exhaust (pic for ref) happy to be told otherwise. Be interested to know. Purrs real nice ! Mileage :152000 km's Summary: Well maintained engine, drivetrain, mechanicals. Stored outside for 3 years but cared for. Works completed by PO: Valve cover gaskets, PCV Valve, all cooling hoses, Valve covers blasted and powder coated, Various engine gaskets, battery replaced, plugs replaced, glass headlight fronts replaced, had three and half years did 20000kms. Avoided metal roads like the plague! Works to do: Aircon doesn't work, apparently not need in DUN (?). been to Hamilton Cool Air and searching for leaks, nothing apparent - refilled and returning for die testing in a fortnight. Clay bar paint surface. Polish and wax. Detail interior. Detail Exterior. Rear window regulator broke on the way down with putting the windows down all the time with no AC, lol. Replacement ordered arriving tomorrow. May put NZ 4:3 or 16:9 radio with RDS in as currently just Business Jap version with band expander, works really well though. Other then that looks OK. Just given it its first wash to remove 1500kms of grime, muck and bugs.
  25. I'm getting rid of some of the parts I've accumulated as I'm living in Aussie now and can't keep the E30. So I've got a leather ///M Sport gear gaiter for sale. Its got the 3 stripes rather than just coloured stitching. Think I paid $20 for it, so $10 takes it. Pics below:
