What'd you do to your BMW today?

Recommended Posts

Remembered how much i hated torx bolts. One on the pcv was seized in place, had to cut the pcv off then with lots of hammering and swearing and a pair of mole grips managed to get it out. Fair to say wont be using that bolt again, that was the reason i had to pull the intake manifold off

Shadow lined kidneys, de-condensated headlight, polished both headlights, got heated seats working, and fixed poor throttle response by cleaning throttle body. Also seems to have improved low rpm torque.

Plasti dipped my bumper trim and mirrors. Came out perfect, looks like new. 10/10 would dip again.

Just replaced the Wideband and getting the thermo fans working properly. Then I might change the oil and look at doing a wheel alignment.

will update this post with some - but it just looks 'stock' - matte black, slightly textured finish. (One of my mirrors was not body colour painted which is why I did them both).

It is actually pretty easy to get a great finish. 2 tips; 1) keep the can warm (in hot water bath) 2) 5 or 6 light coats, wait 5-10 min in between to dry.

Edit pics - sorry, it's hard to see much and was raining...

Looks good mate! I'll prob pull off all my trim and hit it with either plasti dip or some flat black.. Tried pulling out my driver side rear quarter trim and broke the very first clip. Might need to stock up on them first.

I used the duplicolour bumper trim paint. Self priming and that and came out real good on the M3

Repaired dead pixels on my e39. Not a job I'm keen to repeat, but stoked with the results. Just need to sort the monitor out and the interior is done.

What was involved in fixing this?

Disassembly of the cluster and replacement ribbon cable/lcd unit. Would be reasonably simple if I had an extra pair of arms, and if 16 year old plastic wasn't prone to disintegration
