got the exhaust done on the 544iT/6 the other day

used a e34 m5 mid section muffler , couple of bullets up front

and one of those S/S beer cans at the back

so about 2.5" twin pipe all the way through now.

sounds quite nice , not quite as loud as the last red 544i sedan i had

seams to have released a bit more power :)

Took a trip to Sandy Bay (Matapouri). The Hikurangi to Sandy Bay Rd is just a superb bit of Tarmac - about 20k or so of the perfect combination of twisty, windy, short straights and switchbacks. Reminded me again of what a superb chassis the e30 is, even in cab form. Certainly there are quicker and more comfortable cars around, but the soundtrack of the m20b27 screaming like a banshee , wind in my hair and the sun on my back - so hard to beat. Hung out with family for a bit at the Bach and then got to enjoy it all again on the return trip. For a car that is now 26 years old, you'd have to say BMW did a lot right with the e30 and it is so good to find a bit of road that proves the point.

no video yet , but will do

factory e34 m5 centre muffler is about the same as the e32 750i one , just changed the rear muffler to one of these.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/accessories/auction-685419901.htm

had to cut the outer trim bits off otherwise to wide for the e34 bumper gap.

but i see they do square outlets too..

up front is like std 540i etc , except with bigger pipe and 2 bullit type resonators .

sounds a bit like my last e34

I agree, had a great run to Raglan on back road with a couple of bikes a few years back, learner on a big bike (?), was great fun.

You do know that the M3 owners handbook says "do no use for towing" right? :)

Sure do! No idea why not tho...

If mine sounded like that i would be happy.

so in that video, is the setup

dual pipes into a bullet resonator

stock center muffler

aftermarket back box?

I should start a thread maybe

Did you lift the engine up a bit? I've done it in place, wasn't too hard?

Yea lifted it a bit, but a combination of not the right tools and working on a gravel driveway didn't make it a good time by any means

This is true. I also have no evidence or reason to accept this limitation outright.

Is a proper e36 towbar bolted up to the chassis or rear subframe? Excuse my ignorance.

Mine are all part of the rear bumper mounts that go into the rear of the chassis and then the bottom extends under the rails and bolt thru them too. The one on pldubs 318is just bolted thru the spare wheel well and one that goes under it and thru the bottom of the well I think

na the red car had nothing in the front just straight pipe , into factory 750i centre muffler then the cheap rear s/s beer can .

had more volume , cackle /back fire on overun etc sounded more like a nascar :)

Replaced my E39's broken plastic window squiter hoses with PFL E39 rubber ones. I can finally fend off window washers at traffic lights.

Continued to accumulate bits for cooling system over haul and Vanos Seal replacement.

Installed K&N panel filter. 6000xBetterer than the cheap repco air filter/blocker that was in there previously.
