What'd you do to your BMW today?

Everything is together, started it up, runs perfectly. Will take it for a test drive tomorrow then take it for a warrant at some stage.

Flywheel & clutch in, then lost two hours trying to install clutch line in spaces too small to fit my hands. Eventually succeeded, started to remove diff and discovered how tight the half shaft bolts are. Discovered I'm out of penetrating oil.

so you swapped an E46 into an E30 but you send you car to someone else for a service??

The wifes car. Sif I'd take any responsibility for that.

removed the heater core. O-rings? more like squaresectionrings. also.... found a few rubber pieces in the radiator. sh*t. must be from a sensor or something.

Pulled out front suspension. Replaced top mounts, bump stops, sway bar end links.

Pulled out rear suspension. Replaced top mounts, bump stops. Installed ECS strut tower reinforcement plates.

Replaced missing exhaust mount bolts.

Replaced the crusty old 4" Nokia speakers in the parcel shelf with some new Sony ones.

Replaced transmission fluid with Redline MTF. Nearly killed myself getting the fill plug out.

Decided 11psi in the 318i wasnt enough after 15,000km so turned it up to 18psi.....gearbox not sounding so good anymore but does go very well :)

Sounds good then haha. Just make sure you don't have the same thing my mates stroked M20 had happen on the 320i gearbox.

got the 330i touring back from the panel beaters , all painted just have to refit the front m-sport bumper

Got the final bolts for starter & gearbox in. Got lucky & found a bleed screw at the local grease monkey. Discovered the shifter arm rear mounting bush is missing. Got rather p*ssed off.

Started scratching my head to work out where the ell I find a new one :wacko:

Ripped off baaaaaaaaad tint attempt # 4. Then have spent a bit of time getting &^#$%#@$% tint 'glue' off said windows................

In between short stoppage's in the rain attempted to remove pcv from intake manifold whilst still in place.

had a beer and a smoke, then pulled intake manifold off removing as little as possible.

Had the other one at BMWorkshop yesterday for its service. Not in quite the same rude health as the 330. 'parently has $1600 of oil leaks, amongst other issues.

It occurs to me though, that 16hundy buys a fair bit of oil...

Super satisfying headlight restoration:


No moisture or dirt, I think it was clouded up with similar stuff you get on the inside of your windscreen from plastics gassing off over time.
