Vass 996 Report post Posted March 26 Discovered some numpties had tried breaking into my poor little Swift over the weekend. Hadn't driven it since Friday morning and only discovered the damaged glass Monday evening. No idea what they were trying to do, almost as if trying to pry the glass out from the bottom, also left a scratch down the door and door handle. Something must have stopped them at the last moment (or maybe just noticed that it's a manual...) as they never gained entry. Only needed a wee push of a finger and the glass shattered into pieces. Absolutely nothing of value inside the car so not sure what the point of it was. Lucky that the quarter glass just slides in and is wedged in the frame and isn't glued/bonded in like on BMW's. Quick trip to pick-a-part, $55 and less than an hour of tinkering later she was back in one piece. Was told at check out that I was far from the first one that day to be after a quarter glass. Sign of the times.
Olaf 3394 Report post Posted March 26 they might have been seeking your quarter glass, stopped when they realised they'd f@#ked it.
KwS 2442 Report post Posted March 26 Thats the latest method of breaking the glass to gain entry, using a screwdriver in the frame/seal to break the glass where its weakest, on the edge. It really pisses me off because it usually causes damage to the seal and/or frame, particularly when they do it to front door windows. This method sort of popped up out of nowhere about 2 years ago, so i suspect it was shared on tiktok or something and its what the kiddies are using. deedub 82 Report post Posted March 26 That was done to my in-laws car when they visited last year. They actually got away with the car though. We found it ditched. Luckily it was still in good condition. Needed a new ignition barrel and that rear quarter fixed. The kids these days can't drive manual so maybe that's why they left yours alone. Doesn't stop them breaking into them, and vandalising the interior when they can't drive off with it. Happens a lot with NZ New cars that have immobilisers, they tear the ignition to bits, find they can't hotwire it, and start smashing headunits, gauges, cutting seats and headlinings, dumb stuff thats a real pain to replace. Little shits need a damn good smack.

Driftit 2169 Report post Posted April 6 I ordered something from Chch on the 1st of April. Picked up by NZC on the 2nd. In transit. No further info. Still not seen it. I ordered something from Estonia on the 29th of March. It updated me every step of the way. It was waiting for me at work this morning. Are we spoiled by great world wide shipping? Or does NZ have absolute crap service and I should be more patient?
MD13 527 Report post Posted April 7 Think NZ couriers are sh*t. Ordered 3 things: One from wellington, one from CHCH and one from Highland park Auckland. I'm in Browns Bay. Wellington was next day. CHCH took 3 days. Highland park was just over a week... Pass the parcel.

Over ordered stuff from the states that arrived in 3 days, regularly takes well over a week within Auckland
