I reckon even if they did it that you'd just end with numerous WOF places just passing\making up results anyway, just like they do for smoke tests which these vehicles would clearly fail. Cant see the enforcement side of it being very effective either.

After a lot of searching I found the info I was looking for. Not on a forum, or a Facebook page, but in an official NZTA document.

"It is permitted to replace a complete halogen headlamp unit with a complete HID or LED headlamp unit. If the vehicle is required to meet an approved safety standard for headlamps, only approved headlamps can be retrofitted."

That's all I needed. Had no plans to use a drop-in bulb or similar - do the job properly or not at all.

Also next to no brake dust as regen braking is used 99% of the time for single pedal driving (wonder what old 3pedals would have to say about that) so don’t have to clean alloys that often.

Syds Run 2024 in Christchurch.  A charity run for leukemia in the name of the guy who started this event. Syd.

560 odd scooters and small CC bikes.  I've been two years in a row now.  Syds 100th Birthday (RIP) would have been next year.  They reckon there is going to well over 600 bikes this time.
Buy a sh*t bike, chuck on your battle jacket and join the fun.  Live your Pest Life.

Know what you mean with small bikes. Wife had a bucket bike when I met her. Basically a cheap low cc bike for organised car park racing. Don’t need to be doing 737 take off speeds to have a good time 😀
