I officially dislike the entire current BMW line up. If I win lotto this weekend I'm not even going to a BMW dealership.

During a recent interview with Car Throttle, Jaguar head of design Julian Thompson said that the famed British brand isn’t going to follow the big grille trend. It’s a trend Thompson equates to brands overreacting to the Chinese market. According to Thompson, first and second-generation Chinese car customers are unaware of most brands, so luxury brands want to emphasize their image but it’s gone too far.

lol, Jaguar has big grilles but are clearly in denial about it. Most of their cars have big grilles

Image result for jaguar if pace"

Adrian van Hooydonk is the man responsible for the grills.

Side note: If anyone goes over to Germany to slap him, please do me a solid and detour to the AMG factory and also slap the guy that put 20 bolts on a 3 piece engine underbody tray with no oil service flap.

I was visiting my sister in UK about 10 years ago - we went out on a bender and in one pub i started talking to someone. The conversation literally went like this:

Me: "So what do you do?"
Him: "Oh I'm an engineer for BMW and Mercedes, specialising in suspension design. What do you do?"
Me: "I'm a mechan...:"
Him: "I'M SO SORRY - THEY TELL US TO DO THINGS A CERTAIN WAY. My brother in law is also a mechanic and he constantly complains what a pain in the arse german suspension setups are to work on."

i must admit, its grown on my (not like a fungus) but i think it's realy agressive. the front end design wont be for all models i'm sure so as a distinctive design queue it really works, and that booooty - ohh wee

Nice looking car. However I don’t like the size of the grille.

I saw the current model of 7 Series the other day and even in person, the grille is comically large. I have no problem with large a large grille, so long as it’s in proportion. These ones are clearly not. I think it’s a really lazy design on what is an otherwise stunning car.

Yes, it would appear this is the new “design language” with imposing road presence.

It is clearly going to be very polarising, even more than the latest big grilles models, which may or may not prove to be a good thing.

As you say time will tell.

at first glance i wanted to set fire to it

and then i realized it was the outrageous kidney grills ruining the whole thing

those kidney grills need to be like 1/3rd that size, cause DAMN

+1

I wouldn't stop at a slap though - screwing it up this badly with those chrome dots... This one should have a Kia badge...

The new Alfa... take note BMW, new cars do not have to look like pokemon robots that just got slapped in the face with a waffle iron.

The offset number plate still triggers me after all these years. In a country where you don't need a front plate - que bella!

I'm already coming around. Definitely reminiscent of the Alfa.

Be interesting to see if they LCI it.

I'm going to say I like it.
