'HELLM3' is coming up to 170000 k`s.
SMG and we do our best to break it but it refuses to die.
Give me SMG any day over manual (unless it`s an S62 powered 8M3)
And it's ex-UK... So rusty, bits missing, incorrectly described, high mileage, questionable service history...
Let's do lunch. And talk about how we get me into a 535i manual for not much money.
Aidan, wassup, you sound like a mad radical c**t. Flick me a text if you need a hand with doing any dumb sh*t to your e30s.. I spent more time under mine than in it. 0297733266
It's only a 318, so doesn't really matter - you could order M bits on anything, and anything that's not an M3, M5 etc, is just a car with some M options ordered (or maybe added later.
If it's a nice car and you like it, just go for it
Mods can we please suspend the account of OP as he has clearly been hacked, cheers.
Ha in all fairness though the wifes parents have a housebus, some modern Hino thing, and its not too bad. About $50k, I think.
Google hit counts are great like that. 86000 e46 m3 build yet 250k of them are having smg problems ?
Its a Shame you've scared yourself buying one. You've missed out on owning a great car.According to the internet I'm going to die next week from 2,500,000 million different diseases, the sis is watching all my bimmersport postings and there is an alien air bass deep down south
At the cricket last night. Across the group we'd owned 5 smg cars. One had the dreaded smg $30 relay problem. Of the four m3s none had the subframe problem. That was it.
I guess the good thing about the smg fud is we'll be able by these cheaper than the manuals in future
Seriously though, if anyone is in the market for an smg m3 talk to people that have owned them. If you go by the internet it sounds like they are all failing smg pumps its not like that at all.
Got the covers back. Pitting's still really obvious but they look way 100% than before and the powder coat finish is top notch (thanks to Powderworks in Onehunga). Could have filled the pitting but various sources recommended against this as it would not flex exactly as the alloy cover with constant heating and cooling so would eventually compromise the powder coat.
Only alternative was weld filling and that would have been more dollars. All up cost me $125 to strip and powder coat so for that money I'm really happy with them. If I was being fussy I could always apply some wrinkle black paint over the powdercoat which would hide the pitting but the finish on the rest of the covers wouldn't look as good IMO.
This is like the Playstation v Xbox fanboi debates.
Horses for courses. I'd take a manual on the track any day of the week but if I was driving across Europe I'd take an auto. I enjoy driving both - I'm actually really enjoying my auto box at the moment since upgrading the s/w but would also be happy with a manual (if the conversion costs weren't so high!).
