Weather like today might not be ideal for driving but it's perfect for photos! Mike, Martin and I took a turn out to Kawakawa Bay and it was spectacular. Great fun drive too, before the rain really set in, and a good test for the new suspension in my 8er. So good! Rock solid in the twisties at reasonable pace, where previously she'd have been very skittish (or just wound up in a ditch!) at that speed. Here are a few of the best ones... The rest are on here:

Gave her an entire interior clean. Really. Look at the crap that came out of the front passengers seatbelt after a scrub down, towel dry and then a sugar-soap wet towel over the top: Changed my interior dash trim to carbon fibre: ...and got myself a really awesome rego card holder:

Mike and I swapped cars on the drive back to Clevedon. Very impressed with the cabin tech in the Soarer; made my 8 look like an antique and it's only a few years older.

Alusil is the protective material coated on the bores. BMW had some problems with it - its worth reading up on. Looking forward to the engine parts pictures.

My 225s vs the 275s on both other cars were a noted point of embarrassment. I need some wide, dished BBS'!

You think that's bad... I'm currently driving an auto Touran, that HAS a clutch pedal - ready for the manual conversion - try to NOT use it when approaching stop signs etc

Block / heads where the pistons are incased. The after market Pistons are slightly to big for the factory. So they were sent off to be bored out a little and also re skimmed

I suggest that you don't use a 'plug and play' chip. Some people have had experiences here where they have lost power in doing so. a dyno tune is definitely the best idea. The amount of time on the dyno, combined with the tuners time, and any potential ecu modifications, will see you at maybe 1000-1200$$. There are other facilities and workshops which can offer a dyno tune and the same services if you can't get hold of Gavin. The times I have called him, he has been fairly responsive. From the last time I spoke to him, he was setting up his new shop and getting his dyno gear out of storage.

This one is remaining in stealth mode. Tweaking all of the hidden options available. Coded in M-track mode today.It`s controlled entirely through the DSC button. Single press = m-track. Press + hold = DSC off.

Pulled the seat out and opened up the little gearbox. One of the plastic cogs had a crack in it so wouldnt turn the main gear. There were two sets of these in the gearbox so i switched it over. Now i regained the tilting movement and moving front and back works too. Lost the ability to move rhe seat up and down but no biggie. Also some pics of the retrimmed headliner and properly attached door cards Yay!

Suspension's finally complete. All new front and rear. Sport shocks, csi bump stops and rear reinforcement plates and Eibach springs. What a difference! The old girl feels like new, so much grip in the corners. She's pretty low so the ride's a bit harsher than the floaty EDC but not much different to the mtech II suspension in my old E39 540i. She earned herself some new rubber on the fronts too. Resulting issues... Not sure I'll be able to navigate my steep drive if I fit my csi front spoiler... Too much low!! And on the odd hard bump thanks to our crappy roads, I get a bong like a check engine. Happened prior to overhaul too. No light so possibly just a loose electrical connection. Any ideas?

^ That looks purty..... I got a one way valve today from cylinder head specialists today, so i've got that sorted. Just received an email from Eric at m50manifold.com and he said the hissing sound is normal, apparantely cos everything is sealed up nicely, its just the pressure equalising...

Buy NZ new with FSH and you should be OK with the manual. Most a Jap imports. VASK is worth checking out, you will learn they are much like BMW's in the way you get what you pay for and preventive maintenance is the defence between a good car and a bad car. My only experience with one was as a traded in "courtesy car" from the Renault Dealership and it was not a nice car, the DSG kept going into limp mode and it was literally falling apart, this was a NZ new car with under 100,000km on it. was slow and dumb after what I am used too but would be an O.K daily driver. On that note, the RS Megane is way better to drive, but a little stiff for a daily use for some, and you may get hooked on how well they drive like I did and go crazy and turn into a road warrior with a warped sense of social perception..

There's a red E30 M3 on what looks like Schnitzer Type 2 wheels that gets daily driven along the waterfront in Auckland. Awesome.
