3 pointsHad a great mini adventure last Thursday with my little lad. Flew down to Palmy and picked up a little manual 320i to use as a daily sight unseen. It didn't miss a beat on the way home and was great fun to drive despite more than 350K kms on the clock, though it did have head gaskets done in the past five years. Paint and bodywork are in okay condition for a near-30 year-old car and the interior is mint apart from a repairable small crack (surprise surprise) on the dash and a rip in the fabric on the driver's side seat bolster. No plans to do much with it other than keep it running for the foreseeable future while the 8er uses up any discretionary spend. I have purchased a new gear knob to replace a horrible fake CF one that is clinging loosely to life. Wouldn't mind lowering it an inch or so but not in any hurry. Photos from our trip home.

3 pointsPrice sounds about right for a classic, unmolestered, mint,'special' BMW. They wait for the right buyer however.

3 pointsLots more done over the last week, It's now drive-line wise completed. Wiring is all here, got the missing trans/o2 loom from an SMG M3 car and it's giant.. I plugged it all in for a test fire since I was at that point, initially would only get it to crank without fuel or spark, though the pump was priming each time. Dug around and found I missed a huge connector between 2 looms and another at the same plug for the coil loom. Pretty confusing because there is so many damn looms (4) and with the SMG one there is a big bunch of stuff obviously can't plug in. So now it's all running finally, stoked. I first panicked the DME wasn't right or the adapter loom was wrong or something, luckily my own amateur mistake. Since it goes I could finally find somewhere to put this giant mess of wiring.. Engine side it's pretty tidy, There's almost nothing that goes across to the driver side. But I now possibly sacrifice having a glovebox, a compromise I don't mind living with. Can't wait to take it for a spin, hopefully in a few more weeks

3 pointsIsn't this subforums rules; pics and price or gtfo? I see neither. So does this mean we get to repo the ride, and clean up all the chippy packets and put some proper suspension in it, then sell it to pay for 'hosting' costs?

1 pointSo, I purchased a 95 328 coupe not long ago; low kms, good original condtion, great potential for a slight resto and resale. Now I have a bunch of car parts in the shed and spare room, many of which were original to the car. Who was I kidding with the silly notion of 'resale' I'm glad I wasn't completely sold on the default angel-eye headlight upgrade, did some more research and saw one with yellow tinted high beams; far more era-fittings and looks grouse with the hellrot red. To-do shortly is the BMW Service Inspection II, a manual conversion getrag 220 sitting in garage. Might go keyless (NFC), convert the cd stacker into a bluetooth interface. Give it a nicer rear end, spolier, subtle diffuser (cosmetic) with twin exhaust. Oh, and what manner of fury does this button unleash? It only lights when the fogs are on already, did some come out with high-beam fogs or something?

1 pointI paid GBP 8k at a deceased estate sale for my 1984 M635CSi in Graphite, but that was 20-odd years ago. Good M635CSi models in the UK dithered around that sort of price for a while, before climbing fairly rapidly. I saw several offered at GBP20k+ before we left. Cheaper ones were and are also available, of course. Caveat emptor.

1 pointSo, had a big weekend on the car got a few bit had sitting around fitted and quite happy with the results First off the weekend started with a bit of fire.... man what a bitch those subframe bushes can be....replaced with revshift 12mm riser bushes as well as all rear trailing arm bushes and front control offset bushes. Fitted a rear sway bar, nolathane sway bar bushes, all new ball joints and links & E36 steering rack. then bolted up custom built XYZ suspension, may need a little tweaking with strut and spring lengths to get the required height i am after but will get the engine/gearbox back in first before i make any more calls on that. Also finished up the 5 stud conversion which was relatively straight forward. At the moment it sits like this, wheels are e34 15x7 et20.... After finally getting the old girl back on some shoes again after a few months of having its under belly scrubbed and tidied up i then set out to get the interior tidy..... so started off with this.. a good water blast/ scrub then a few coats of duplicolor vinyl and carpet dye and youd never know, as well as this also did the hood lining black to match Then put the centre consoles with fuzzfabrics houndstooth gear boot and handbrake boot and Recaro LS front seats, which along with the rear will be re-trimmed at a later date to match the gear & handbrake boots. and just for a bit of fun mocked up the Mtech 1 wing just to finish the look Next on the to do list is now to sort out the small patches of rust in the boot area and start on the smoothing and tidying of the engine bay, mean while saving for the all important engine components.

1 pointUnreal- its the prefacelift twin to my E30! Manual 2.0 with sunroof in Glacierblue with 360km on the clock... Picked it up in Wellington and it drove up to Tauranga sweet as. It really is such a joy to drive a basic car like this every now and then. And you'll enjoy the cheap maintenance and running costs

1 pointSounds like a real winner Someone needs to transplant this all into an E30, iDrive included!

1 pointFrom what I've seen, they were standard, but there was the option to delete them, at least overseas.

1 pointTime to bring this thread back from the dead with some current photos and an announcement! After owning this for close to 5 years I'm looking to SELL my E30 to fund my travelling plans at the end of the year. I will post a For Sale thread with more details soon. Feel free to get in touch with any interest, would love to sell it without having to deal with trademe clowns. After approx $10k but willing to negotiate for a quick sale.

1 pointNice car Jooles and pics are awesome as usual. Desert Rd is a nice drive too. There's nothing like buying a car you haven't seen before and then driving it home. I picked up my 740i in Auckland after buying it of TM without seeing it in person. The drive home was awesome. Did the same with a Yamaha FZR Super Sport 1000. Flew down to Invercargille and spent a awesome week riding it up the South Island. Bet it gets lowered real soon and then those little things will need to be fixed before long like the rips in the upholstery. lol. You know they'll bug you till its done..

1 pointI can also vouch for how mint this car is, you live behind my parents place in Glenfield It's a shame I moved out a year ago, we could have talked BMW's over a beer!

1 pointLooking into sourcing some for my M3 touring. Will let you no what price we can get them for.

1 pointBuy a new keyboard, cap locks is obviously on its way out. But reading all your posts in a angry shouty voice does make them funny ?

1 pointPretty much every fuel filter I've taken off and replaced has looked something like this. Unfortunately most people never think to change a fuel filter.

1 pointParts arrived. Forgot to order some extra critical bits though, so an extra 2 sets of vanos spring plates ordered. Vanos unit oil pump washer and circlips replaced with revision B versions. The new circlip retains more equal preasure on the washer beneath it. Have seen these end up in the oil pan.. You can see here how the pump drive has been squashing the washer and slowly eating away at it. New o-rings for the bank 1 vanos unit. The one under the 24mm socket in this pic doesn't seat nicely.. and ends up doing this if not seated correctly prior to instalment. This is the bank 2 vanos unit freshly removed : Installed the timing cover on bank 1 and removed bank 2. Not fun. bank 1 vanos unit back on. Timing set after and came out perfect after rotating the crank around for 3 cyl # 1 ignition TDC revolutions.
