i have heard their is a school of thought within the powers that be that they DONT WANT drivers to be taught to drive properly, because that willlead to more speed. The focus on speed is because it is directly ,quickly ,and easily read .No interpretation or arguments are required.most other misdeameanours are less clear cut.. i now always travel with a gps and set my cruise to 102...I pass just about everyone. If i decide to pass i do so with little regrd to the speed limit. Its safer. I cannot comprehend the lack of anticipation shown by a lot of drivers.I can see an accident developing and often dont see any brake lights or reaction until the absolute last minute. Its not just holidays either .I see it every morning on sh2

If your P Zero quote was less than your PSS quote then you were either quoted cheap Pirelli P Zeros (Nero or Rosso) and not the "proper" P Zeros (Corsa) or you got a damn good deal on them. In a normal world there's no way you can get Corsas for less than PSS's but if you can then grab them. And remember that unless something has changed in recent times those Nittos are not a premium tyre and are very average in the wet. You'd be better of with the Goodyear or Bridgestone options I would think.

The P/O of my M3 fitted Landsail tyres to it. As soon as it's wet you're certainly sailing.

So when we bought the E91 the PO had removed the 325i badge and left horrible scratch marks everywhere. I had no choice but to get the guys @ OCD to sort it out. Photos speak for themselves of the wonderful results!

Hmm. D'you think this might be an issue? The rubber part was held to the pulley by less than 50mm of rubber. Sheeeeeit. It does potentially explain why I could hear the noise sometimes, and not others. For those who are wondering what this could cost, if unattended - new radiator and fan would be a starter, with the potential for damage to anything hit by a piece of vulcanised rubber releasing itself at x000rpm. As it is, one of these (from BMW) retails at $740 (for a whole one). And you need the $28.50 bolt as the torque used in fitting these is huge and the bolts stretch. I need to check, but if it is the 'big' bolt, 100nm torque, followed by 60, 60 & 30 degrees should do it. Try holding that sucker still without any special tools. BMW identify this as an issue. You can tell - BMW Auckland stock several on the shelf. Fitting will be tomorrow.

Thanks Dave for that wealth of information, as I always wondered what the differences were amongst the many pzero tyres.

Damn, you've got all the hook-ups girl! And don't get me wrong, PSS is a great tyre but the Corsa is arguably the best. Nowadays P Zero is actually a range, not a specific tyre and Nero, Rossa and Corsa all sit at different price points to satisfy different markets. I don't even know if all three are available locally. The Corsa is the balls-out super car tyre that's considered the bees knees by most. It's a "system" whereby the fronts are directional and the rears are asymmetrical and they use Pirelli's best street compound. This is the P Zero tyre. I believe, but stand to be corrected that the Nero and Rossa use the same compound as each other and it's more a "normal" performance compound rather than a "special" compound as in the Corsa. The difference between these two is tread pattern optimised for slightly different compromises (because a tread pattern is by definition, a compromise for dry grip and traction). The Nero has better wet performance and the Rossa is oriented slightly towards better comfort and lower noise. Corsa > PSS > Rossa > Nero in outright performance terms. The high end Goodyear and Bridgestone tyres are in Rossa territory but all are "max performance summer" tyres (all super AAA rated for well over 300km/h). Both the Nero and the Rossa are asymmetrical only (last time I looked) so you can't optimise the setup with directional fronts. You really want directional fronts for wet weather performance and more precise and faster steering, I'm not sure the PSS's offer this as an option yet? Whether asymmetrical rears are required is debatable but isn't going to hurt.

This. I wouldn't bother with other quotes, or the stress of deciding if you can get a set of Corsas for anywhere near the price of PSS's.

too many factors which make up 'tyre wear' A good starting point is suspension geometry. Yes you're going to pay through the nose for good tyres but these will also out perform mediocre tyres in various aspects as judged by the motoring journalists who go through the hassle of testing them. just don't put land sails on the M3. Please.

So last couple of days had a bit of rough running, figgering it was a coil, but was intermittent . So scanner on, cyc 7 injector issue. Checked coil and changed it over to double check, no change, so not coils. Bit of Google help and checked the wiring into the injectors first, bingo, one of the plastic connectors into the top of the injector on 7 got brittle and the right wire was bouncing in and out, easy fix, back running sweet :)

Been very busy today with my mate in getting the shocks refreshed. Wanted to go the CSL shocks route but decided against it. Introducing Sachs Performance dampers and springs: The springs are actually Eibach springs with Sachs Part Number on it and seems to lower the car by 15mm Had the front sway bar links changed at the same time so will get some new rear tyres and then get the car aligned properly. Next on the list is the front control arms and tie rods and then off to ray to get the rear end bushes refreshed and reinforcement plates welded on! Hopefully by then my wallet wont cry as much

Hey guys, OCD done an amazing job. Pics below. https://www.flickr.com/photos/124552226@N08/sets/72157659379654453 As you can see the bottom of the front lip has some cosmetic damage, was wondering if anyone knew where I could grab a carbon fibre/black front lip to try cover it up

Sam from OCD here. $160 is a great price but I would be questioning the quality. In my eyes it all comes down to your expectation and budget. You might find that the level of quality you get for what you pay your mate is exactly what you are after. Theres a place in the market for every 'level' of cut and polishing and grooming. To give you an idea I can do a cut polish and wax in 5 hours and make a car look a lot better if I wanted to - but it's not my game. We recently corrected Martins E39 M5 (check project threads on bimmersport). It took approx 1 hour for initial wash down, 2 hours for clay barring and decontamination, 11 hours or so of cutting the paint, another 2 hours of refinement polishing and then probably another 2 hours for final wash down, sealant and wax. You wouldn't catch me spending almost 20 hours on a car and charging $160 . On top of that we use three different size machines to polish as many areas as possible, polishes from Germany, waxes from Korea etc etc... But in terms of cost our RRP for that service is $749 (including a full interior and exterior detailing). My advice would be to really have a good think about what your expectation is. Do you want to improve your car or do you want as close to a show car as possible? Also, if you do the show car route do you have the time, knowledge and resources to properly maintain that finish too? Sorry for the long post! Feel free to PM me if you have any more specific queries in regards to anything car care related
