2 pointsa quick bit of googling revealed he had a November special "$115.00 incl gst LEAK TEST/REGAS and minor leaks repaired/compressor oil topped up**Work carried out at your home or work." so around the 120-150 mark maybe, without parts (if required)? Give him a call. What have you got to lose... besides those foggy windows and your sweaty brow? HTH

2 pointsWhat's the use of a build thread without pics? The very talented Jeffrey took some awesome photos at the track day while we were in the pits. Our spot for the day Oh a wild BMW 2L open race driver appears... shits getting serious Marcus had to sort out the relationship between his tires and guards, no snu snu. I also had my fair share of issues on the day. 1st was a minor, my intake elbow had popped off. 2nd was my coolant temps getting very high. Jeff said he was trying to get an "in the moment incognito photo"... lol Simon was not impressed being disturbed during lunch Sam, DanK and Marcus sorting the tire and guard relationship on the drivers side Hell yeah Is this a potato? Juhan showed up later in the day in his very nice AE86. He joined us on the track as well Ah yes valentine's day... a very romantic day for Aalia i'm sure. Partners were free haha Big thanks to Simon, Aalia(great sandwiches btw), Marcus, Raewyn, Sam, DanK and Pange for banter, help fixing sh*t and chocking my car when I rolled back into the pits. It's the little things that make the day great! (also cars... let's not forget cars.) If you want to see more pictures from the day head over to JW Photography NZ and give him a like!

2 pointsDusted off and getting some road time. Treated to a MSS54HP DME upgrade for an extra 20hp approx. Aux. pump delete, burble pop,rev limit increase. LSD change ratio 3.15 to 3.46 better suited to the 6 speed. 150kg approx. lighter than a E46 M3 Time to renew my love affair.

1 pointNot many people agree with me, but i feel that the V10 M5 is the worst sounding M5 of the lot. Doesnt sound like a V10, just sounds ugly. Its also not much of a looker. The E39 is a fantastic looking car, and that engine/trans.... mmm.
-
1 pointIn my opinion as well the S62 is vastly better sounding motor, then again I'm bias for a good V8 track - they just hit all the right notes and tones that really stir the soul... Somehow the V10 with its particular firing order is not anywhere near as alluring, if anything it's annoying to my ear... like a loud Honda, I think if they sounded more like the V10 Dodge viper I'd like them more, but of course they run a different firing sequence among other design differences. Eg,

1 pointI haven't looked at swapping an S54 head onto a S50. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it is not possible but am happy to be proved wrong. You are talking big money for a complete head, vanos, ITB's vanos, fly by wire throttle etc.
-
1 pointThe E39 was the last real drivers car, after then too many electronic controllers etc.. took over and ruined the drive of all the pure power. Also the interior of the e60 :spew:

1 pointI've got an AP Suspension kit in my mk2 Golf which I used for both regular street driving and track/drag racing and I'd highly recommend it, especially for the price. I've actually just ordered these springs for my e28 as well. Car looks good BennyBoy, I'll be following your progress.

1 pointThe Porsche 928 uses lightweight aluminum nuts. Very, very light indeed.
-
1 pointThe E60s have depreciated quite badly, they're generally around the 30k mark. I think the main reasons are their looks and maintenance costs.

1 pointHi Elijah, 225/45/17 was the size scored, there was a grab one promo at Principal Tyres in Kenepuru. They may be worth a shot when its time to score your black doughnuts. cheers

1 pointSupply and demand, easier to find an e60 m5 than a nice well looked after e39 m5!

1 pointThis is Arild Martinsen's 4x4 M3 from 1988 in action. Well, it started life as an M3, and then received an X-trac transplant - hence the 4-bolt rims. The engine is M10-derived... Whether that means it is the original S14 or even an M12, I don't know. It does have a heffin' great turbocharger bolted to it, helping make 700bhp. It's safe to say it goes a bit. https://youtu.be/5g8eoT0M2sI

1 pointCheck the tyres you are using have the correct load rating. I cured this issue on my e39 by changing to tyres with a higher load rating, usually a bit more expensive but lasted twice as long!
-
1 pointThat's in mint condition. My mate is thinking of sending his to the UK for a sale. He hasn't had much interest above $90k here but to be fair it's only being passively marketed.

1 pointI didn't say the Ferrari was new and the going rate for them is also up in the air. Just like sumps and ECU's if I wait something will turn up eventually. God likes a trier and some people are trying.

1 pointJealous of flat driveway and all that garaging! Nice work. My e38 looking the opposite after 60km on muddy gravel.......

1 pointHmm. A swap with Ray looks a good bet. I'm keen, but my purse doesn't bulge that far. Doesn't bulge at all, actually.

1 pointSH1 northbound between HD and Meremere. Again. The annual migration of the lesser-spotted working roadworker (working ones do exist, just haven't seen many lately) has reached Dragway Road. Part of the road southbound from there towards Meremere has been lightly scraped, had some black goo squirted on it, and a couple of lorries full of chippings have dropped their loads while driving around. Effect: disrupt traffic to change the road surface. (More on that in a moment.) A friend has lost another windscreen as a result, our 320d has another chip out of the windscreen and less paint on the bonnet. I need a new visor for my motorcycle helmet after being peppered with chippings, and the bike's headlight lens has been chipped... This happened the day after the road re-opened completely, and along the piece of untouched road immediately after the "roadworks" where loose chippings had spread from the working area to road surface that escaped being 'repaired.' Change the road surface? Yup. They've 'repaired' the bit that didn't actually need repairing - the northbound carriageway north of Dragway Road heading towards Meremere. The northbound carriageway approaching Dragway Road from Hampton Downs is an absolute disaster area, and has been for some time. It is badly rutted in places with large areas of surface completely missing. There are potholes, and there are areas where the road surface has lifted away and now moves when you drive over it. Add to that the crap being sprayed around by cars and lorries driving over it, and it's like hell week on the highways for a motorcyclist. Road bike? Enduro is more like it. It's so reassuring that they'll be back to do it all again next year. And the year after. And the year after that...
