Gearing up for a new gear knob....leather worn though on old one.... Plus new oil separators and associated gubbins to go with new thermostat and a full service..... Plus a clean after two road trips in the rain - great to catch up with Dave and compare cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Get rid of Chris Evans... That would improve it. He's there because he likes cars, and the BBC wanted a 'name' to front the program.

Not sure, realised just after I put it in that I should have weighed it. Nevermind. Anyhow, finally the car is going again. After spending a couple of hours on Sunday morning rolling around on the wet ground trying to get it done, I had it about 90% finished but couldn't get it done as the previous day a friend of mine was over and was kind enough to push the clutch pedal, dislodging the piston from the slave cylinder. I didn't realise this and spent a good 45 minutes in a lake trying to put it back in, with the rod not budging, only to realise what was going on. Luckily, my good friend Ben came to the rescue that night with a replacement one which I went to pick up. Yesterday afternoon I got back to it and got it back together. The improvement with this flywheel is drastic. I almost couldn't believe what a difference it made, but then it does make sense. The car takes off so much faster than it did before. Anybody with an M30, if you want your car to go faster, I seriously suggest you track down a single mass flywheel, no matter the cost. It's well worth it. Over the next couple of days I have a few small jobs to do on it like replace the front bumper and some small engine related stuff. I'm just glad it's going.

So tried them on the E30, they didn't fit. Tried on the E46, also didn't fit.

    V12 factor. Nuff said haha

Never really understood M70\M73 conversions, beside the V12 factor the V8 overall is a far better choice.

You're a bad man. A very, very bad man. But I like you.

Have you checked the plastic coolant pipes on the back of the head and under the intake manifold? Might pay to at least replace the one on head for piece of mind, shitty BMW plastics in all.

Should we just wait and see if there is an explanation then from the owners or admin ?
  17. 1 point
I'm actually.... very... very pissed off unless there is an explanation for this or I'm missing something
  18. 1 point
Errr, ok. I'll switch it off and back on again then ?

If you get another BMW you will spend any savings on a new spoiler or Sears etc any saving dissapesrs, better to buy something you don't really like but won't touch

I'm calling bs on your generalization of cheap = nasty. There's a few members on this forum that paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less than 5-6k on a paint job and i'm pretty sure they were happy with the results. In fact one member got his car done twice 3 years apart by the same person to tidy it up, both times were re-sprays.

Howdy guys and girls. 6 years of enduring public transport, I've finally bought a replacement car. Always admired the brand and it's so good to finally be an owner. Incredible car, damn good on gas considering the engine size and the distance I travel every day. Currently costing my $50 p/w as opposed to $80 taking the bus from Wattle Downs to Parnell every day. I am light footed and coast where I can, so maybe my nananess is helping. Hoping to attend meet ups and make some new mates. Don't know a lot about the workings of cars so I'll be relying heavily on your advice. Not sure what I want to do with the car as of yet. I haven't really got any spare cash to spend although I have been eyeing up Plasti Dip to colour (as a cheap alternative to powder coating) my wheels and grill in black. Love the wheels, so not really interested in replacing right now. We'll see I guess. Any horror stories with Plasti Dip?
