2 pointsI think I recall reading about the e31 early dev cars having all the running gear and gadgetry fitted to the e24 body. In terms of the M5, the e12 M535i was the seed because it was the first 5 series sedan to be fitted out with a ‘large’ engine, motorsport orientated suspension and an LSD. Being a new concept at the time it was an obvious success. Sadly I cannot afford a real one ...

1 pointHello from the Hutt Valley, We’ve been driving around in a 1996 Ford Laser for sometime now with an occasional drive in our other vehicle, a 1998 Ford Courier XL Wellside. Both of which don’t have much of a vehicle safety rating. My fiancée and I recently fell in love with a 2012 7 Series 750i – a Japanese import. It was the first car yard we visited one random Sunday afternoon, and the 3rd vehicle we looked at up close. It was all over from there. It’s quite a leap in terms of.... almost everything (steering wheels and four tyres are still common place in the 2000’s)! Until it came to purchasing this particular vehicle, I knew squat about BMWs. I did spend some weeks researching the 5th generation 7 series and became aware of the potentiality for serious problems to occur. Despite numerous tales of woe in various online postings we went ahead regardless – love knows no bounds (3yr MBI sorted along with an independent PPI)? It’s fairly tidy considering it’s 72,000 wrinkles and at this stage I just intend to give it a good wax (AutoGlym). Try to remove some superficial scratches on the paint work and on the interior surface of the wooden trim. I've already invested in some leather care from European Leathercare in Petone. It doesn't look like the rear seats were used much at all. A couple of new tyres due soon as only 3mm left on the rear. I had spotted some Bridgestone Turanza T005’s after noting the B grade attributed to a decrease in rolling resistance (how much that will help in real-world economy I don’t know). Suggestions most welcomed regarding tyre selection, as well as any unwanted fuel vouchers ? Other than that, it’s an brobdingnagian joy to drive, bugger the environment and my retirement fund! Cheers. I slightly grainy photo shall have to suffice for now. P.s. does anyone know when the ECOPRO mode was first introduced with the 7 Series?

1 pointPersonally would have preferred a full alcantara wheel as im not a fan of the perforated leather but the job itself looks top!

1 point31 July 2018. 169,986km. Replaced Transmission Mounts (gen BMW) Replaced Engine Mounts (OEM Hutchinson) Replaced front radius rods L&R (OEM Lemforder) Replaced front control arms L&R (OEM Lemforder) Alignment. Woah. Mounts? Even starting the engine.... it's like butter! I love engine mount/trans mount replacements. At around 170k kms/10+ years, they're not performing as they did when new. Control Arms/Radius Rods? Steering significantly improved, smoother lock-to-lock, and the car behaves significantly better over bumps (particularly in compression). My old ones had had a bit of a minor graunch in the steering (particularly right hand side), that's grown in the last few months; the balljoints were reaching end of their useful life. Replacement is great. I've only driven it at urban commuting speeds so far, it is transformed. I'll update this post when I've had chance to drive it at highway speeds. Next up: rear window trim seals sunroof seal Rotors Pads Lower oil pan & gasket

1 pointhttps://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1706718407 2001 330i, 156218km, 2 owners, NZ new, full service history, in Welly, closing in 14 hours, current bidding at $2440. Sounds like just the thing unless you are after a motorsport. Last few bids are suspect IMO BTW, for price reference, I just bought a black NZ new 2000 Msport 328i in Auckland for 3K done 157000km and has a Team McMillan wheel alignment sticker on the door saying done at 130000km. Didn't get any books with it though.

1 pointRudolph needed some new emblems so got some ebay Alpina ones for the lols... I think it looks cool Also it has had some resprays on odd panels like nosepanel, one of the front guards, a door, the mirrors, sideskirt, top part of the rear bumper etc. still a work in progress. Also picked up some clear taillights for the rear, installed an E46 centre armrest and tinted the side windows. Rear windscreen will be tinted soon and hopefully get the front bumper tidied up as its looking really bad. Hopefully will have some new wheels on this soon too and get the central locking/windows sorted.

1 pointI appreciate you’re specifically looking for M54B30’s, but would you consider B25’s? My sedan is on the market; see the thread below: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/60062-fs-2003-estoril-blue-e46-325i-motorsport-individual/

1 pointIts supposed to be a cheap car but we both know its too easy to spend spend spend on these cars especially when parts are plentiful. Ugh. What have i done... again..

1 pointAnother update. What was supposed to be a small upgrade in the looks department - removal of kerbed wheels and putting on some better fitting wheels off a F32 4 series - turned out to make a huge improvement. The reason for that is because of new, wider tyres for the rear and more importantly a much needed wheel alignment (haha) After this was done went for a day trip to Rotorua and it was great. Perfect on the open road. Fuel consumption slightly better reading 10.1km/L instead of 9.8 after the trip. One thing I miss is the sound of the straight six engine.. I really enjoyed the sound of my previous E46 330ci, E39 530i and the E87 130i which was a blast to drive, very similar to this. This is of course much more powerful, way quicker and actually makes great exhaust sounds thanks to the MP exhaust but it doesnt have the engine sound. does make the turbo whistle though which is cool Specs now: 18x8 ET34 - 225 40 18 18x8.5 ET47 - 255 35 18 Previously: 18x7.5 ET45 - 225 40 18 18x8 ET52 - 245 35 18 then 235 40 18 the slightly lower offset fills the guards much better than before but still tucked inside, no stance here sorry.
