Ive got PS4's on my E39 beater. Spending a few hundred more to get superior rubber is never overkill given they aren't expensive to begin with.

I mentioned that to Pete at the club pub night this week. Great minds etc...

Hi a number of you may have seen this car for sale a couple of months back. It's been pretty much out of sight for some years but is known to a few people and once again is back on the road with me as its third owner. #328 was NZ new and has just clocked up 116k km. If I have this right in 1991-ish the ACS wheels and body kit were fitted and the engine was given a healthy dose of Dinan "love and attention" upping its performance ... Mileage at that time was approx 80k km. There is no evidence of repair or rust, it's very original and except for the OBC everything works. As I understand it the same guys (guru's) have serviced and looked after it all their lives, which I find particularly cool. That said it's needed a little recommissioning , new tires have transformed it, leather rejuvenation has made it look like new inside along with a few bits and pieces. The biggest ticket item being a NOS AC radiator. Next week it's booked in to spend sometime with a couple of the well known BMW guru's being dyno''d. I'll let you know how it goes. Regards Julian

Hey guys I am new on this forum, and a new owner of the beast aka e60 M5. Just wanting to seek some advice regarding its exhaust. The stock exhaust sounds great but i want to make it sound a bit more louder and exotic. What can I do? Thanks in advance

They were $240 odd in 235/45R17 when i bought them from Hyper. Seen them a little cheaper and seen them more expensive.

Yeah fully understand your point, no arguments there. I'm 99.9% sure it is genuine. Will get more photos of the ID tag in the engine bay and other details when I get home. No idea what happened with the wheels, I will ask the guy I bought it off. Either way though, as you said, it'll still clean up to be a good car, genuine or not. And would still be a dirt cheap bargain either way ?

Your original post about it is what made me decide to do it in two steps, instead of just dropping the pan straight away, so, thanks!

Yeah, it looks pretty easy for anyone with half a clue; but I have the mechanical aptitude of a gnat, which is less than half a clue - and being colourblind I tend to steer clear of anything electrical.

that's how we did the XF 6 speed in my e60, drain and fill, drive for a week or two, then do the dry fill/filter change/mechatronics sleeve etc. Made plenty of difference. Enjoying your project journey, Kelvin!

We bought our 2003 3.0l petrol three years ago this week. I got it from Bellars with a stack of service history for $9.5k We've done just over 80k kms, it averages 11.2l/100k and apart from oil servicing the only issues we've had were to replace a broken drivers door mechanism and the aircon condensor died. We've replaced some miscellaneous suspension bits, discs and pads all around and had the transmission serviced. Total servicing costs has been around $5000. It's half way through it's second set of Continental Cross Contacts with both sets coming from new cars which had been "upgraded" and they cost $800 each time. It does go through headlight bulbs fairly regularly but other than that, it's been absolutely faultless. Even with "just" a 3.0 petrol, with 5 of us in it and all the gear for a holiday it still moves pretty well.

most parts fitted pretty good. but still needed a lot of work. not show room quality but race car quality. the price reflected that.

Did a drain and fill on the trans today. I suspect that its probably never been done (in 159,000km) looking at the state of the "lifetime" fluid that came out. Already driving much better. The trans has always been a sore point for me since getting the car as its shifted really rubbish, but its getting better the more I drive it. I also have a new pan/filter, bolts and a couple of seal things on the way to see if it will help even further. Todays drain and fill was just to help clean out the old fluid, so ill drop and replace that when the parts arrive.

certed for coilovers, lsd etc, and relatively low ks. Be a good buy for 7k, just needs all the nonsense pulled off it and a manual box installed!

Nope, 8.7l/100km (or 27mpg) mostly open road is what I do. It sits at like 6l at 100ishkmh. My 1.6 corolla used more gas

I'd be annoyed if I spent 20K on a "full rebuild" and then had to get the tappets reset and a new thermostat.

For 20k you could get an S85, installed.

Common guys, he's spent the 20k on getting 147kw dialled in!

I think my M20 for my race car was about $6K total. And that is expensive for how basic an M20 is.

What a remarkable achievement - spending $20k on an M20, even the guys that have got really tricked up race M20s in the Race Series have struggled to get up to $20k for a build, so someone must have seen him coming when they charged him for this job - $7,500 in labour for an M20... really?
