Jon found belts were rather past their best so they're being replaced along with a tensioner and pulleys. My self-levelling (rear) suspension had reported an issue 'not active' recently but seemed OK. Fault found with left ride height sensor. Being sorted tomorrow. Rear number plate bulb was had it too - fixed Pete

SMG / CSL parts bin are a plus for me. The red interior seems to be a common UK thing . It’s going to be more collectable than standard models. Biggest expense on these is worthy tyres in my experience.. People worry about bearings / smg pumps , subframes , vanos , biff bolts , cam bolts , steering hoses , coil packs , gear position servos , head gasket , alternator replacements etc. With mine it’s done 160,000 and I’ve driven 115,000 of them.over past 7 years. biggest expenses... $9k on rubber. Or $25k on gas. , $21k on parking , and $1200 per year in dealer serving and parts. I think some times we focus on the maintenance costs on e46 M3s where as the costs are elsewhere. $30k for the cs seems like good value for a car that is a joy to drive.

It's a very reasonable qualifier, and unrelated to expected sale price. That says to me "if you want to feel the loud pedal from behind the wheel, I'm qualifying you as a genuine purchaser". Implied is "and if you break it, you've bought it". Good luck with the sale @francoisv!

Cars are cheap in NZ, maintenance isnt.

Funny. 100K miles in the US is still considered low mileage. Kiwis: Cars done 100K Km's. Will probably blow up now. Better sell it. Whats everyone on TM listing theirs for? Advertise it for the same price...

New to the forum, forums generally. Looking to buy a e90 325i Motorsport wagon and advice through purchase and ownership. Would love a 335i but perhaps a stretch to justify but twist my rubber arm. Currently own a Lancia Integrale and a Land Rover discovery. As a 17 year old went in the red e46 M3 demonstrator when they first came out. Keen to learn.

Don't be a wanker and ask for photos. Third world countries have better internet than me.

330d/335d are probably overkill for your needs if you have an M3 - though N57 is a nice motor. In gear performance from the 320d is absolutely fine for DD use. B47 (in LCI F3x) possibly slightly less trouble from a timing chain perspective than the N47 in the pre-LCI. I didn't think the 320i/328i were anything special when I test drove them.

Anyone got an M7 rockercover bolt off an alloy rockered N52? I realise theyre single use, but have one snapped one and need a temporary fix, while the courier man turns up with a full set of new bolts

Have driven the 320d alot and it is pretty popular. Its a good all round car, good for daily duties and if you want a bit more punch then sport mode gives you want you need. Haven't seen any major faults with them coming through

My mate's e36 M3 Evo has 250k miles (400,000 kms)... and the VANOS has never been touched.... distance travelled isn't always gloom and doom.

^^ hi mate, I had my eye on a set for a while but lost the original auction for them. The new owner contacted me when he wanted to sell, and I picked them up.

Is it the latest Leaf where you can choose an engine sound - including things like a V8 or the GT-R? I find that I make my own engine noises when driving EVs, not a petrol engine noise either, more a whooo noise like the old UK milk floats.

Pet hate, people that list E36-E90 M3s as manual, when they aren’t. I guess they are trying to increase views? As an opportunist buyer, I don’t bother viewing auto/SMG M3 listings. The only time I see them is when the seller advertises it as manual.

@M3AN I agree with your points except 3, he's converted it to KM for the listing, 107mi being around 172k. For me, Red Leather would be fine if it was 6spd, or SMG if it was black... but both together are a no go.

I'd be quite surprised if an M5 didn't require 98 at a minimum. Of course if you keep it under ~4000 rpm then it probably doesn't matter (and you probably shouldn't own an M5).

And pics of the new seats front and rear... considering these look nearly new and my old ones looked (and felt) terrible this is a HUGE upgrade... really like the Motorsport fabric as well. ? ?
