Would never buy a modded car that’s not been done properly. Not sure when or where you lived in U.K. but there certainly are rules and no free reign, not Certs as such but process for “Q” plate. I don’t have a problem when idiot with cut springs and struts “welded by a mate” crashes when they collapse on a corner, it’s the poor buggers they take out I have thoughts of. Seen so much dumb sh*t it my short time in NZ, some by “professional engineers” that ended up with some of those poor buggers not making it. Thats why you have to stop the idiots from themselves.

Because poverty pack E30's are so desirable.

Reads to me like he spent a wad of cash on the upgrades, doesn't want to\cbf certing it or returning it to stock, so he's try to sell it before the WOF expires and its illegal. Can't see a cert it would devalue it either, you can revert it back to stock and get the plate removed when selling it. It devalued because it has none not one. The original struts\dampeners are likely to be tired at 150,000km which is why he likely fitted the Bilsteins in the first place, so fitting them would of waste of time\money.

Most people wouldn't know that you can't get a warrant if you need a cert and to be honest I wouldn't expect them to even know if they needed a cert, it's a reasonably fringe activity. If you sell a car that can't get a warrant then my view is it needs to be sold "as is, where is" with the registration on hold and the buyer informed why this is the case. I reckon it would just be easier to pay the $500-$600 for the cert and if necessary bump up the price of the car. In my opinion to do anything less is a bit irresponsible.

We're already enough of a nanny state thanks

I'm bugged by non cert modifications that are 'easily changed for wof' I for one am super enthused by the idea of swapping suspension twice a year.

Nah homs...dont know wheter it was thee air...or the soil..or just the heart of the land..but coming from the land of South Africa...its like we have part-animal in us. Getting a e36 coupe with its tough az M50b25 manual with a lsd as a toy...one tends to unleash that beast which we always have to tame. Shes loose...and fun. The balance of an e36 is amazing...so...getting a low profile tyre with a big az wheel and dropping her as low as i can slows me down...which in calculation..is good...in my theory. My licence was once suspended when a 1000cc was in my hands so before too many streets got tattooed...she got "Stanced" homs?

I went Koni Yellows with stock springs, didn't want to really lower the car given NZ's roads. The Koni Yellow's at full soft are equivalent to OE. I've firmed mine up slightly and am very happy with the setup.

If it was cheap chinese brand coils then I would be worried but they are not. They are high quality ones so its not a concern for me. I'm sure if you ask nicely, the seller would put the originals in for you and away you go, no worries

Until you get caught breaking the law and they impound and crush the car. Wish we had that law here ?

So why not do it properly then and get one? Screams of bodge up to me. You should live outside NZ for a while if you think that’s the case.

All cleaned up and fitted. Need to open up the drivers seat control box to fit a new bushing so i can put the recline/headrest button back on, and the switch covers for the thigh support on both seats are missing. Hopefully can find those in the e39 530i msport festering away at pickapart Mangere.

Casually having a stroll through Zebra Onehunga as you do and spotted a standard e39 fitted with black leather Sport seats. Boot and all 4 doors were deadlocked so out with the holesaw again. Leather is fairly good and all the electrics work but god damn were they in a state of filth. The drivers seat smelled of dog, sweat and mildew and the passenger seat was just mainly mildew and old beer smell. Spent a good day of solid dismantling and cleaning of the seats. Used some baking soda and white vinegar to kill off the mould and other gross. Will be letting these air out in the sun for a couple of days before installing.

People say sharp price, I say market value. So many trademe residents sitting there at 30k+ and never selling. Markets taken a dip even overseas.

I think its worth the money to upgrade the shocks konis or bilstiens, as the stock shocks are not renowned for their longevity. To save money have a look at importing from demontweeks in Wales as its usually the cheapest source even after taxes and shipping.

Always hard to tell in photos but as long as the paint colour is uniform and there’s enough clear on there you can make it a mirror with wet sanding and buffing. Wetsand with 1200 till uniformly matt, then 2000 to take out the 1200 scratches, then meguiars ultimate compound or m105 or other such moderate cutting compound.
