3 pointsWelcome to the Rod Bearer Anonymous group If it's Eisenmann Sport (not Race) I might be interested on it, especially if you can easily put back your originals (I want a revert back again). Sometimes I find the E60 to be too quiet, but other times I like it quiet. Maybe those flip switch exhaust cutout will be more suited for me. I do like those Eisenmann tips shape, we have a factory fitted Eisenmann on our Cayenne... would be cool to have octo Eisenmann exhaust tips on the driveway

2 pointsFinished putting the M5 back together!! New thermostat, radiator hoses, radiator drain bungs, new coolant, 1 new intake boot and clamp, new sway bar bushes and end links, headlights polished and clear coated, freshly painted front bumper fitted. Also took the opportunity to vacuum 14 years worth of dead bugs out of the oil cooler and radiator!! Quick test drive tonight shows oil gets up to temp a lot faster so thermostat was past its best.

2 pointsKind of surprised with that one TBH. I get paying top dollar for an immaculate Mtech but that seemed far too tired, flawed and modified to occupy that price range. Was the consensus that it was a Bone fide Tech2 or not?

1 pointG'dday, new member here who's taken the E60 M5 plunge just recently. The car is a 2008 BMW M5 and my focus will be bringing the car back to a factory look removing all of the BLACKKK stuff the previous owner/s have done.

1 pointThought I would share a couple of pics showing what I've done with my E90 interior. The brushed alu didn't look too bad but it was a bit scuffed up in some areas so I decided to wrap it. Watched a couple of Youtube vids and decided to order some Vvivid+ 'True R' semi gloss carbon fibre vinyl from Canada, it's pretty good stuff. Used 3M Primer 94 tape adhesive to ensure it would adhere well and covered 13 pieces all up. Total cost to do this was just under $160, not bad considering the end result IMO. Am pretty OCD so everything lines up mint, no bubbles/wrinkles and she's stuck for life lol. Have a few extra interior goodies to add on the way from overseas. Here's some pics.

1 pointI would recommend the Cayman 3.4 over the Boxster and one in manual. Might get lucky and find one for $40k. But will probably have to budget for IMS repairs. Edit: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/porsche/cayman/listing/3113812752?bof=7qPz3mUt E46 M3/E92 M3 or Z4 M coupe. M240i manual? I think if you wait a little longer, these will drop in prices.

1 pointHave you considered a Boxster? It is not a hair-dresser car. Mid-engined (better than 911 for handling), flat-6, proper Porsche set up - and if you can get manual the better but 'beggars can't be choosers' eh. People that have bought Boxsters are really happy with their purchasing decision. I 'might' also be looking for a Boxster (you can't have too many Porsches), some pointers: - bigger chance of bore-scoring on S cars (bigger engine capacity) - there is still the IMS question (2002-2004 has the weakest IMS bearing, apparently) - 986 and 987.1 only - 'til 2008/2009, Tip box is a Merc gearbox, bullet-proof and easy to repair if something goes wrong

1 pointFYI I changed out my stock mufflers to straight through mufflers and it was too loud in the low RPM range and not loud enough up top. Ended up with a fair bit of drone and a weird cyclic harmonic effect when cruising. That and it didn't seem that loud when giving it stick.

1 pointIt said it was sold pending payment last night. I admire the hustle to finance a 30 year old car and then make $1K a month on it.

1 pointJust read the actual copy of the advert. Pretty bold statement -'best E34 in NZ.' What about the 3.8 E34 M5 in violet that sold 6-12 months ago on trademe, or the 60,000km 3.6 M5 in Sterling grey, now owned by Boris Radich, not to mention the Hell red 540is 6-speed that lives in Auckland with anecdotally only 20,000 kms on the clock (or some of the lovely examples of 540is's still lurking about)? I agree this is a very special car and is arguably the best E34 535is in NZ by virtue of its condition and provenance. I actually like the way the advert reads. However, not sure I would write 'best E34 in NZ.'

1 pointCongrats on the M5! Have an E60 M5 myself and just had the rod bearings done - absolutely love it. I'm a sad sack and track the M5 market so have seen this one come up for sale a cople of times. Love the individual interior on your vehicle - piano black trim plus light leather and headlining - very unusual! Nice to hear you're bringing it back to stock....

1 pointYeah but look at them, they look like crap 😂. I’m the type of person who would drop $20k on a low mileage example (because I did), but wouldn’t look twice at either of those. Big difference between a cared for, garaged, supermarket trip once a week example and one that’s sat outside deserted for 20 years. Apples and oranges. Also, In regards to a paint correction needing doing, it must have been done recently because it’s spotless. Anyways! I’ll take proper photos and put up a showroom thread sometime this coming week. Cheers

1 pointYep, sold. I bought it. It’s in as new condition. Sure, you can buy a “tidy” one for around 10k with 100,000km on it but I would rather spend and extra $9,000 for one that’s literally in “as new” condition with 25,000km on the clock. You won’t find a nicer one.

1 pointWithout a doubt, an E46 M3 (if you can find one!) Modern and comfortable enough All the on road performance you could realistically need Big boot and usable back seat Raw / analogue enough without being exhausting Timeless styling (Peak BMW IMO) Future value assured

1 pointMy father was the operations manager for Gull Petroleum, and he was the chemical engineer for all of their fuels, including ethanol blends, force 10 etc - I can ask him for a detailed explanation if you all want lol? What do we want to find out about the fuel? I'll dig into it and report back. From my memory when he was designing it, i heard it was actually supposedly superior for newer cars both in performance and better on the engines, it was only some of the older motors that might have had issues with the dryer combustion from the ethanol content.
