OK, following on from my intro thread https://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/65870-hopefully-a-new-owner-e61-m5/ here is my little South Island to Auckland trip with the new to me E61 M5. Firstly, to the various members that gave me assistance in Christchurch to make this all possible many thanks. In short I drove my wife's MK6 GTI down to Christchurch for the trade on the E61, took collection of the E61 late on Friday, spent the weekend in Christchurch and then headed back to Auckland. Honestly I didn't expect much of a demand for images and details but I'm more than happy to provide what I can. Sorry for the delay, but I've been flat out squeezing work meetings into the rest stops along the trip north which has left little time to post / create this thread.

Very rarely do these 530d's come up for sale but the time has come to move on my pride and joy. I have owned this vehicle for the last seven months and it has been nothing but pure driving pleasure. This particular vehicle is presented in Carbon Black with black leather. It has been meticulously maintained by myself and it's previous owners. I have done a full service on it with all new fuel, cabin, oil, and air filters (K&N performance filter installed). The glow plugs have also been replaced. This particular vehicle is a lower kilometer example. Imported from the UK in 2011 with just 30ks on it, it has spent most of it's life on NZ roads. There doesn't seem to be any accident damage present. There are a few scuff marks etc but I will get a professional cut and polish done before the new owner takes possession of the vehicle. I have serviced it with Penrite HPR5 and Ryco filter's as I swear by their products. Some of the feature's are * 124 ks * Xenon Lights * Headlight Washers * Rain Sensing Wipers * LCI Trim and Tail lights (Halo's are used as DRLs - Daytime Running lights) * 11000 kms RUCs in credit * 3 Litre 173kw (235hp)and 500nm of torque Turbocharged 6 Cylinder Diesel Engine with 6 Speed automatic transmission * Bridgestone RE050A Run-flat tyres with 5 plus mm tread(Full size spare included in sale with Goodyear Eagle NCT-5 Run-flat fitted) Heated seats Automatic Headlamps Over 1000ks per tank on long trips Tinted Windows Navigation with NZ Maps USB and Auxiliary inputs There may have been things I have forgotten to mention but I am happy to answer any questions via text or phone call. KM's will go up as I am daily driving it momentarily. Viewing in Glenfield during business hours or Sandringham after hours. Personalized plates are not included in the sale and neither is the car seat nor radar detector ๐Ÿ™‚ After $11, 500 for Bimmersport members Contact SJ on 02102916373 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3196153938?bof=TbBVUy2T Trademe link

I expect it will need driveshaft hoops (x2), and several hours of labour in addition to the swap. I got my previous e30 certed for manual swap and m20b20>b25 and that was what they asked for. I think the price is OK, but would feel less OK if I had to raise it to 9.5 or 10k to attempt to recover certification costs, and I don't have the time or the money to do it anyway. It's a 318i sedan that I've had some fun with and is (hopefully!) better than when I got it but its not a rare or even particularly desirable e30 unless you have kids and carseats. I don't want to price it out of its market. It has 181457 on the clock (still ticking) and absolutely no idea on the engine unfortunately.

WOF time, soooo, 2 new front bumps stops, 2 new washer fluid pumps, 1 new brake light bulb and a handbrake "adjustment" later... new WOF! Still driving it with MAF unplugged, research leads me to believe that there is a software update to suit the newer version of the MAF sensor, so will look into that a bit further.

One of my neighbours has had quite a few of these over the years - I think he's only got one left now, but had 3 at one time. The current one was a 1970's racecar, with a Valiant slant 6 in it! The Austin motor sounded nicer though. He also had a Valiant Charger that looked like new, a couple of "Rover" RV8's, an MGB convertible, I think there was an MGC at one point and at least 5 different Healeys at various times. They REALLY are stunning cars, more so in the flesh, too!

Good day everyone. My name is Donovan. I just joined your community after purchasing myself a 2003 z4 2.5. Quite excited to be a part of the community and to learn so I can enjoy getting to grips with my new weekender. Pictured here is my son straight of the test drive when I decided to buy it. Curious, is there a way to tell if my car was originally a 3.0 and had an engine swap or if the car always was a 2.5 with 3.0 badges added? Iโ€™ve Googled and checked the stamp on the engine and itโ€™s definitely a 2.5. Thank you for reading!

This car represents the epitome of British sports car design. It has a purity that cannot be matched by anything leaving the factory today. A true classic that has endured for sixty years and will still look good in another sixty years !!! Video here... https://youtu.be/ze6MTz0fkmY Cheers...

It certainly will need a cert. And it should fly through. And with a cert, you should be netting well above what you're currently thinking.

Your neighbour has impeccable taste If that is an E39 six-pack Hemi stuffed in there that must be a handful on the track. As I am not a collector or investor, I personally have no problem with upgrading the drivetrain in classic cars so long as the outward appearance of the car is not changed. My interest is in the styling, and seeing these beautiful old cars doing what they were designed to do... be driven with enthusiasm !!! Some are rare and very valuable and I have nothing but admiration for owners who either drive, or allow others to drive them in events such as the Goodwood Revival and Festival. Cheers...

Cert or not, I think for $8K it will be gone very quick - Tidyish, clean interior, M42, manual with some quality parts on it... Looks better than half of the slower 320i's *trying* for $10k+

Yusss... I think this car struck the perfect balance point to capture the true essence of what a sports car should be. There were a lot of other worthy contenders in the late fifties and sixties (MGA, AC ACE, XK150, Sunbeam, Triumph etc) but to me the Healey 3000 just put it together better, with that beautiful little hardtop being the icing on the cake Running gear was derived from other existing and heavier Austin models to keep things simple, so no exotic or fragile mechanicals. The bodywork refined and purposeful with long bonnet and short boot as a sports car should be, but without any quirky or outlandish design features to spoil the classic profile and age quickly. Lots of torque and enough power to have tail-happy fun. Enough space for two and an overnight bag... no attempt to pretend that this was a family friendly car !!! If they could replicate this car today using the same design and parts sourcing philosophy, I would be first in line to put my money down Cheers...

Yeah, genuine E30 Alpina rims were only available in 16โ€ I believe, hence there are reps in that size. Itโ€™s debatable whether the replica 17s look any better than the 16โ€s, arguably the 17 is a smidge too big on the E30.

Pic lifted from here... https://www.bimmerboost.com/showthread.php?35181-N54-Valve-cover-gasket-DIY Clip doesn't appear to have any practical use, so I guess it is just something added by BMW to piss off DIY people Cheers...

For anyone thinking of installing catless Downpipes, hereโ€™s a fairly good guide. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104333&fbclid=IwAR0Ui5TMQqyQQ3t4mEjUFL3kJTCQS_2Bme1JFMHf2jH_XYCyPoTQb6IUv4M Mine just arrived, so weather permitting Iโ€™ll be installing (or at least trying too) this weekend. Anybody in Wellington/Kapiti who would like to offer a hand would be much appreciated ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚ there will be some nice craft ale in it for you ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿป

Plenty of stuff listed here gets slagged. Depends on who lists it and how tight with the 'community' they are... Edit: I personally like the threads where it gets slagged until the seller pops up as a member, then the opinion changes ๐Ÿ˜†
