A milestone today, one side of the headers completely tacked up and ready for finish welding !! So much work ... can't wait until they are completely done. Onto some pics ... pretty self explanatory, the first is all of the pieces for the last tube on this side.

Think thats Serenas old car from BMW 130 owners group, was really nice tidy example a few years ago, had the plate IBEAM, she did all the blue bits and wheels.

Nothing at all (well, 2 door 325i) has come up sadly. Although do expect to be talking to someone about a 2 door in the next few days - maybe once we go to the traffic light system the listings will start falling from the skies 🤞

$23,600 - while my estimate looked shaky early on, I'll take it - 97.4% accuracy is within the margin of error

You'll need a long 18mm spanner or leverage to crack the center bolt which has threadlocker on it. Jaw puller makes taking the bearing off easy. You can use the other half of the driveshaft to tap the bearing on.

They also have this one, which has been discussed a few times. Been there for eons, and is really suffering from exposure to the elements last time it was discussed. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/540i/listing/240089175?bof=FEqTAclI

I did mine at home by myself, can't recall specifics of what I did but don't remember it being a drama. I have this picture ... looks like i just wrestled the old one off with a hammer / punch or similar then popped the new one on with a socket or something Edit: Take note of the direction when taking the old one off ... they are not reversible.

I did see he's selling the complete drivetrain for $5K - interestingly a guy contacted me with a really tidy PFL 320i auto 2 door that could be a great place to put a B25 and G260 but think I'll keep looking for a 'complete' car before I go down the swap route.

I was meaning smoke that could be seen from space. I’m pretty sure there’s a YouTube vid of someone fitting a catch can to a diesel X5, have a look.

My thoughts precisely. Couch effort advert.

The fact that the photos used in the listing looks like it was just taken from what he already had in his phone makes your statement so much more plausible 😂. Either that, or he’s a very very ‘laidback’ person.

Under those circumstances I would consider that a set of four matching wheels of any type showed an unexpected degree of motoring sophistication for the Far North Cheers...

Did the hardest job on list - CCV and hoses, plastic water pipes and cleaning. Pipes were still in decent condition but new parts come with peace of mind. Couple of small bits of broken plastic to flush out later from the block, otherwise the heater valve may grab them for me.

Refurbed 370mm Tech 2 for $850 is decent. I would be tempted to look at those Alpinas if I had a car to put them on - great looking wheel, the replicas would cost around $2700 to land here so another grand or so for the real thing isn’t bad. wonder what other goodies he has tucked away 🤔

Pretty reasonable pricing I feel. Looking at £2000 for some Alpinas and at $600+ for an unfurbished steering wheel, $850 for one ready to go, it's probably worth it

Finally completed my little benchtop power supply project !! Will be using this to power the spare gauge cluster I'm using for Arduino development. Its based on a spare ATX PC power supply I had ... a pretty useful up-cycling project !!

Went and got a wheel alignment, got asked if I knew @Matt, they tell our cars apart by the brake caliper colours
