3 pointsN52B30 no good for dyno sheet penis size bragging, but point one at old taupo road and you'll be smiling at the end. As above, Ive had some stupid fast cars, they're pointless on NZ roads. Sub 6s 0-100 and good noises accompanying it are more than ample. Lots of info out there are about winding up the E82 125s, from memory they're actually less nerfed than the US 128s and its all in the DME flash. Check out babybimmer, there are a few on the 130 owners faceballs site too.

2 pointsAgreed, my stage 2+ E91 was stupid to drive. Yes, it passed anything, anywhere, anytime, but it was very much at the risk of my licence/jail. Around town it was far too much power to use. It was pointless.
-
2 pointsI suppose it's a matter of purpose and perspective, for example my 130i is well fast enough, and far too fast for most drivers in NZ based on observed skill. Nobody really needs even a 300 horsepower car unless they're heading to the track and I don't see the OP mentioning track usage. A tune to 130 spec will provide a meaningful (and manageable) improvement, beyond that is totally unnecessary for a daily. I had a 400+hp Evo IV and a (nearly) stock 6.5, the latter was the better drive (by quite some margin) on essentially the same chassis. Horsepower is not king.

2 pointsThats a dream world. Maybe if you were single and prepared to live in a busy cbd in an apartment (ugh yuck to both) but the chances of both people in a household working within 5km of home? ha!

2 pointsThe "charger" that most people talk about is not a charger at all, it is an adaptor that connects the charger built into the car to the mains power supply in a safe way. Proper ones monitor things like the capacity of the supply, and get info from the car to make sure nothing goes wrong. Of course there will be occasions when people don't do things properly and sh1t happens, but that is also true of petrol stations!!

2 pointsYep, it takes all night, I don't care, it's full in the morning when I need it!! I can use the wall box to top it up quickly if I need to, or use a free fast charge point that I drive past every day, options!! π
-
2 pointsMust be slow as f**k to charge if it only draws 10 amps. A decent charger will draw 30 amps. Consider the average house is only supplied with 60 amps. If you come home, plug in your shopping trolley, have the heat pump on, turn the oven on to do some cooking etc, you're pretty much maxed out.

2 pointsMucho thankso Of course the pics I share are the pinnacle of my results, there are plenty of average results to counter hah. Speaking of internal combustion engines, went to check out my mates new Lexus LC500 this morning ... quite the piece of automotive art to look at and the sound is amaze-balls !! One very very cool car. Also as it turns out you can get a lot done when the kids are at Nana's place for 2 nights BEHOLD .... the ahhhhh ... straightenerer ... chassis machine for twisted headers !!! Just have to bolt it to the garage floor then can see whats what.

1 pointI haven't touched the car since my last post! I got the rego reminder today and I think I'll just put it on hold and deal with it once we're at the new house. Build is taking forever due to the material shortages so won't have garage space until May at this stage. I'm still on holiday this week so I'm planning to tackle the drivers side seat twist. Might go battery shopping as well and see if I can clear the trans fail prog. And should probably give it a wash as it's home to many insects now. Definitely feel like I'm bringing shame to the BMW community but that will change eventually...

1 pointSeemed to work fine in the Hunger Games! Stay in your district!!

1 pointSomeone buy these. Got lonely and drunk and spent 300 I shouldn't have. Need to make it up! $100 plus posting or better yet collect from Kapiti.

1 pointI've had the 'full sauce' N52B30 (in a 130i manual) and it isn't really that fast (or worth modding up to imho). You'd be better off selling yours and getting a 135i. There was a manual N55 one sold recently for 17k. That's a better proposal in my mind.

1 pointSo basically people shouldn't travel around and only get hired for jobs within a small distance of their home, tough luck if theres no work in the area? You might have got lucky but its far from typical, especially given the layout of Auckland city. If someone wants to work 20km from where they live that's their choice & maybe the only option, they shouldnt be told it's bad or not allowed because of time and resource use. Every human activity uses resources. If there's going to be a discussion on not wasting time and resources for whatever reason for people going to work and such then there should also be no holidays, no sports tournaments, concerts or any other large human activity. You could go on and on. Think of all the resources and time we could save!

1 pointGot the engine, trans, rear subframe out of parts car. M54b30 rebuild about to commence. Now just need to figure out how to drag the shell out of the garage and onto a trailer with no wheels on π
-
1 pointI seem to recall when i looked into one ages ago, the 125i is detuned/nerfed 130i, and a few external engine parts are different between the two, like the inlet manifold. You can swap those parts out, remap it and make more power. When buying parts i'd use your VIN in RealOEM to make sure you get the correct parts.

1 pointhttps://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=634752 I wouldnt be worried about it. BMW Edition seems to refer to trim and styling and not mechanical parts.

1 pointThere isn't a single street in the country where the gas station is up to the task of everybody trying to fill their car at once. Its a bit of a pointless argument as there is no scenario where everybody in the country will plug their car in at the same time, mine uses about the same amount of power to charge as boiling the jug or cooking some toast, and I don't HAVE to charge it every day. As for the commercial users, hydrogen will take care of most of that. (Eventually!)

1 pointFrom memory the Richards car. Always nice picking up a long forgotten book or magazine π

1 pointI dunno, at least that is M-Sport, and the later M-Sport at that. Makes it so much better looking, inside and out, to me. Colour is a bit boring being silver but itβs not as love it / hate it as the other one. There are quite a few aftermarket additions on this one that I would have to take out and go back to factory, or better integrated after market. And, yeah, still not worth anywhere near that asking price.

1 pointAsk for a pay rise at work, or come up with a ways to make more money to offset such fuel increase. Everything is getting more expensive, so you have to respond in kind. Smartest thing to do would be to buy a straight 6, V8 or V12 and enjoy yourself, paid for by new revenue streams. At the end of the day it's the journey that counts, not not the destination. I have three V8s now and a one diesel. More will be added in due course. Life is good. That would be a very large no. Generally from what I've seen an electric version of a car is 500-750kg more weight than it's petrol or diesel equivalent. Cars have gotten heavier with more tech over the years, but on top the the batteries have added huge amounts of weight that will be harder on the road, and wear out tyres faster. The instant torque if used repeatedly on the same piece of road would likely rip it up faster than what any petrol or diesel car could do. Electric cars should have the weight factored in as well at lack of fuel taxes they are paying when calculating a RUC I suspect car crashes are also going to be much more catastrophic in future too given the extra weight and potential for a battery fire that can't be easily put out. Perhaps ACC levies for electric cars should also be higher. There needs to be some redirected funding that would need to go to the fire crews having to learn new methods and buy new equipment to deal with such lithium blazes, as well as be trained on the electrocution risks

1 pointHe preventative matienanced the shizzle out of his and it looked amazing. This will likely have nothing touched and the colour looks like bmw couldn't decide between silver or gold so got drunk and sprayed both.

1 pointUnfortunately have to wait with looking for a 3.0L at the moment. I can still dream though...π§
