3 pointsJapanese spec came on 14s and automatic. He didn't like my comments stating there was more than one LHD mtech2 and that this was converted so he pulled the ad. E:actually think he blocked me

2 pointsWow so long since I posted that I forgot my password. This one has had a couple of small updates, new big brake kit has arrived, swapped on the semi slicks + e39 wheels (painted gloss white), new tune for the carbon CSL intake and had the RTAB's replaced again. Need to do a nut & bolt check then ready for the South Island tour next year. For now she's sitting pretty in the dust-free Showcase.

2 pointsDon't get me wrong I'm all for the things I own to improve in value. However I also struggle to believe a vehicle I brought has skyrocketed in "value" in less than two years. It's not like in that time half them fell off the road or got written off so they got rarer. I believe it's to do with "hype" combined with what was low interest rates over that period and essentially "free interest" lended money. This is confirmed when in the last 3 months the car values are dropping 20% atleast from a year ago and appear to be sitting on trademe from the auctions I follow across all sorts of vehicles

1 pointNot sure why it’s on 14” weaves, only the first few months of Tech 1 were on 14s then it was 15s from then on. Also if it was auto converted to manual then looks like it is not an M325i / Sport / iS. That and the fact it’s a LHD would put the price at well below the asking for me.
-
1 pointAye. It'd need a lot of paint and interior for a $25k uplift, but I appreciate it's a 'try price' as much as anything else.

1 pointNo, different seller. This has always been a Christchurch car. The other Auckland guy bought both the black S54 and the silver 16000km S50 car from HellBM. There is a strong interelationship with this blue car, and the silver Hell BM car in that both were imported damaged, and LHD. The Christchurch car came alongside a 3 litre E36/7 coupe, also damaged, this and new parts purchased in NZ saw the estoril car completed, complied and RHD, the tub and any bits left over went to Auckland, where some of those bits went into the repair and conversion of the silver car.

1 pointAre we looking at the same car..? That thing is awful in every respect, and if it’s supposed to be “ironic” then it’s missed the mark by a mile.

1 pointRed alert ! "Selling my absolutely beautiful BMW M Coupe!" And your 2005 Toyota RunX, your Mitsubishi, your Audi RS4, your Kawasaki...? Possible, that's a lot of vehicles for a 'Private seller' to have listed at once.

1 pointChristmas came early Already have a CSL airbox on my car but its the old V1 Geoff Steel box, so decided to bite the bullet and get the karbonius. The newer Geoff Steel box is okay and fine functionally but I wanted the best which seems to be karb by a long shot, snorkel piece is still on the way, won't arrive until next year. Cannot believe the quality of this thing. Everyone says they are perfect but photos don't do them justice, they are insane. Can't find a single imperfection in the weave or clear coat. Feels like it doesn't even belong on my old M3, looks like it belongs on a Ferrari with the quality of the carbon. Not a cheap exercise though... Ouch. Car got a much needed wash today too, still cleans up okay. Plans for the car next year as of now are: Brake upgrade - leaning towards 996 brakes all round, mostly cause I will enjoy the project of rebuilding them/painting them etc Diff rebuild - Racing diffs has an interesting option which replaces the clutches and has a preload bevel washer to make the diff behave more like a mechanical diff and I've never rebuilt a diff so I think it would be fun. Solid subframe bushings - I'd do this as the same time while the rear subframe is down. CMP auto engineering out of Aus have nicely made solid bushings that correct the roll center from the car being lower, at the same time would do a bit of a rear end bushing refresh, replace all ball joints and rubber. Considering getting a set of CMP's monoball RTA bushes as well. MK60 ABS conversion - This is pretty unlikely to happen since it's a big job and perhaps beyond my skillset with the amount of wiring involved but it's something I'd like to eventually tackle.

1 pointYeah paying for a polish is money well spent. Coating is pretty easy to apply though. Driving around in a freshly polished car is always quite fascinating. Within an hour I had two people literally wind down their windows and compliment it.

1 pointI was a big wax/sealant guy. Finally committed to a ceramic coating. Gotta say on first impression I can see the appeal. Paint wasn't too bad as I had polished it years ago, but did have water spotting and needed a polish. I wasn't going to chase the last 5% - Polishing is a nightmare. Even blasting through it it took ~5-6 hours. I used; Carpro Fixer (for some 'worse' areas) Carpro Essence all over MF cutting pad Finishing pad only on the bonnet where I went pretty hard to get the water spots out. CQuartz UK 3.0 + Reload It's a dream on all the black trim, (PDC sensors look brand new!), wipers etc. It looks the best it ever has, so looking forward to the long term review! It has convinced me that I would put a coating on a 'non corrected car' - maybe just a quick polish. And I would live with some locked in swirls (on say a white car) to get the coating benefits. Going to cull my detail cabinet now...

1 pointLast week I had the lights protected by Obsessive Car Detailing in Auckland. Great team and you can't see the film unless you're really, really looking. I installed the headlights last Sunday afternoon (11 December) after the 24 hours waiting time for the protectant film to fully set in place. They look amazing both off and on. the Auto levelling works as it should and they are adjusted pretty well but will need some fine-tuning at some stage to ensure the aim is in spec. After a short drive in the rain on Sunday, I noted some very light condensation in the left-hand side. This dissipated pretty quickly but was concerning as it meant the seal wasn't weather-tight. I decided to remove the light, separate it again, and reseal it from scratch. Upon removal, I could see I hadn't been liberal enough with the sealant on this light and it had rolled rather than bulged when I had pushed the lens home. ( I've also read that Xenon and LED units don't get as hot as Halogens, so won't evaporate moisture to the same level. The sealant was heated up in small sections and scraped out using a plastic trim tool. An all-new more liberal bead of sealant was laid in the channel and the light reassembled. The light is back in the car now and working great, fingers are crossed that the condensation doesn't return as I don't fancy pulling it apart again This closes the lighting chapter in project E39.

1 pointI guess I'm coming from a place of having never financed a vehicle. I just don't agree with their interest rates.
