So it's not a big red button that scatters boxes of donuts on the road?

I can't wait there either 0-60msport! especially an angry sounding v12 Hey EuroV8 i hadn't thought of that but now you mention it. As i will be getting the shop that is taking care of the electrical side to mount the engine in, I'll get him to save the design in some sort of form and put it on here for any1 else that would like to do the same swap.

In case you are thinking about installing one of these race shifters heres an 8min clip showing some of the issues i had...

I genuinely love the sound of a V8 over everything else, things start sounding like Japanese motorbikes or power boats if you add too many cylinders ;-) im sure this V12 will have a few bolt ons to help it not sound most 7/850's (prolonged yawns).

H h h h hi all . . . . my name is Wessel. I have a serious Beamer problem, not an addiction. Its only an addiction if you want to stop but can't AND I DON"T WANT TO STOP!!!! Just wanted to introduce my self. Buying my first BMW in New Zealand tomorrow (2003 e46 330Ci) will give it a clean and post some proper pics tomorrow. My wish list would be e60 M5 (got to love that 10) and e46 m3. Cheers.

I used bitumen sill flashing tape from bunnings/mitre10. Its essentially the same stuff as the dynamat type stuff but without the dynamat type price. I covered the whole door with it after that photo was taken.

no wof because no cert. has odd pairs of wheels. the ownership history and overall impression has put me off the car as i can only imagine it has been thrashed around doing mean skidz. This will be instantly a $7k car to get suspension certed and wof'd with basic maintenance to be done and then you need to sort out the wheels and whatever else which brings it very close to 10k. Nice colour for sure and well spec'd late 1998 model but with 230kms and probably not much service history its only for someone who wants to restore it back to mint without a worry about costs otherwise its just going to end up in the hands of another boy racer looking for a cheap quick manual rwd car, rince and repeat until its crashed and written off for parts. RIP santorini blue e36

There also seems to be a paint mismatch in Photo 2 on Tard Me... certainly lots of q's, km's, and owners... could be a great buy for someone with the time/tools/competence/cash to put into it.

I'm not sure if you know man, but for me personally, and also for the algorithms that determine popularity on this site, you're something of a star, this has to be some kind of record as far as likes to posts ratio also, not sure if the counter is all time, or over a given time span, but damn man, keep doing what your doing.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10607 "COP stands for "Coil on Plug"Its the type of ignition system BMW uses where the coil actually sits ontop of each spark plug, instead of in a central firing box.so COP control is the control unit for COP"

Lee, I'm loving your new Samosa shifter. nice integration work! Tell us how it changes your experience behind the wheel. It's still standard gate, but shorter/narrower? Right then, I'm going to see if there's an Onion Bhaji variant for the 545i.

I also discovered the Samsonas shifter also requires a new shift linkage, this is due to the factory shifter having a kink in it which matched the gearbox connector, about 5 degrees. Thankfully i got the parts to make a new shifter linkage. When i asked about instructions i got "There is no instruction sheet for the shifter, from what my technicians have explained it is straight forward similar process to any short shifter on the market." Straight forward in a gutted race car maybe lol. So with the new base welded up, its was time for a test fit, over all pretty happy with how it sits now, and no ugly cut console. It looks pretty legit, a coby alcantara boot helps up the class a notch too ;-)

Hiya Charl - I'm definitely keen to replace the cloth interior on myTouring, however I've set my sights on Sandbeige In fact I have made a small start. I still need to swap the tweeters across, which involves removing the spring nuts without breaking the plastic posts

Factory mid bass is a shallow 6inch driver. 5.25 and 6.5s will need an adapter to fit with the existing mounts. Many won't fit depth wise without cutting a hole in the door as per Zeros post. There are a few drop in speakers from bsw, focal , cdt audio and also Dayton audio sets via eBay. They tend to be pricey but make the install easier . There is a small company called technic that makes a wiring loom adapter which uses the factory speaker wired to aftermarket amp that's worth looking at.

So got a very nice surprise today. Had both the powder coater and machine shop call saying all the parts are ready for pick up. Sorry about the bad picture as they were taken with the parts in the boot. Block all nice and clean now, broken bolts taken out and no need for a resurface as it was straight as. Flywheel resurfaced and lighten, now down to 10.4kgs I should have weighed it before hand but say it must be atleast 3-4kgs taken off. and Rocker covers all coated gloss white and underside unpainted. Getting closer to getting this thing put back together. Will be taken the block to the engineers later this week to get measurements to help with fitment for the ITB setup.

E39 M5! Parked directly outside work yesterday. A very rare sight in Welly! It looked dirty and driven - as they should be!

haha no worries there GLENN i love a bit of banter myself. Michael it's a m73 model and agree they could do with a bit more power. Am hoping to get it looking and sounding similar to this guys one on youtube but love the sound of this v10 itb. would give my first born to get my v12 to sound like this
  35. 1 point
I'd rather not say ZERO i'm a bit embarrassed as it was quite a lot, but here is an example of one on someones else motor. are you wanting one for the v8?
  36. 1 point
Nice work ZERO a v8 wouldn't be bad either in the e46. yup already spoke with Kayne Barrie hes the one suggested to just purchase a full m3 rear set up as i was looking into just modifying the factory one with a LSD. Hopfully the ratio won't be too bad as i will be using a manual 6 speed gearbox. The s6s 560g is what the v12's oringally came out with so managed to get my hands on one. So yes will be going manual as for front brakes i'll deal with that when i come to it as there are heaps of aftermarket options there. Hey Brent i don't think you saw the earlier post of me saying that i'm waiting for you to sell me the m3 rear end haha. Had this dissusion with you about the 330d rear end as i would end up spending more money trying to modify it to fit. Kayne said just save the money and get a m3 rear end as it's a straight bolt in and the diffs are built like brick houses. As for the sump set i have purchased a dry sump set up from Dailey Engineering awesome looking piece of work, don't have a picture but will put one up as soon as it's in my hands

Yeah saw that it was on trade me again just a few weeks being purchased. I will have to give (mellowpuf) a message. So the current situation, is i was taking the pistons out and managed to get all the conrod bolts undone bar 1 which i rounded. Spoke to a mate and didn't know why i didn't think of this at the time but will grind the bloody thing off. Have ordered a new set of arp bolts. Once all parts are out will take the block to get acid dip cleaned and checked to see if it needs a resurface, plus had 3 small bolts snap on me where the water flows through. Must have rusted them in, hopefully the machine shop can help me out there too. Then reassemble time. Thanks for all the good feed back too team, feel free to ask if you want any specific pictures taken and i'll do my best.

Euro V8 was that the one that was on trade me not long ago? I've done a lot of google searching for people that have attempted/done this swap. the main concern was the sump itself needing to be modified. So hopefully with the dry sump will get awesome clearance and sit nice and low in the car. Give me a bit more room for some customs exhaust manifolds too. ZERO I'm planning on swapping a whole e46 m3 rear end in, have one lined just just waiting on Brent to get his butt moving and dismantle his m3
