This e38 has been with me for over 11 years - that is how much I like it. Only reason for selling is I have found another one that has seen very little use..... There is a real spread of prices for the e38 so I am open to discussion. Given it is ready to drive anywhere, has a massive service history and is in pretty good nick for its age I am asking $4100. See the full description and lots of photos on Trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1378753741&ed=true Call on 0275 638 320. Located North Shore, Auckland.

This method rely's on the shock you create when you hit the spanner to loosen the nut. As in your case if it has been removed not to long ago it should come off with out to much trouble but it is a BMW . Just remember it is a left hand thread.

I have the tools and you're welcome to borrow them for cost of shipping to/from you.

Have a look on line and you will find the tools ( 32mm spanner and holding tool ) are available for about $35 USD they are best tools ever I used to struggle all the time with the ground down 32mm spanner and a mallet but with the tools it takes me about a minute to undo the left hand thread. Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses! Yes aware there is a number of things that will need to be returned to stock. Just waiting on the seller to provide the registration plate so I can do some further digging into the history and kilometers. Apparently received a full service today so I've asked for the invoice to see what has been done and obtained the registration.

I'm not sure, but you might need to send them in more than one consignment with youshop? Another option I've used for me Datsun bits is http://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/, which are great value if you are bringing in a whole lot of bulky stuff. On another note, I see the Kiwi is getting stronger against the US again ;-)

many thanks. quick editing in Lightroom, takes about 2 mins tops. You're correct, I'd never make a successful dealer, as I keep my cars too long... hence I sell comparatively rarely. Selling's a big job for me as I like to do it well, ensure the buyer gets the info they need to make a decision to buy. Images, description, vehicle well presented. And I get the money into the bank; that's my measure of success.

Big effort and great work, I don't think a prospective buyer could ask for more. However, you'd never make a successful dealer! The last car I bought (an 06 Legacy GT) came from an Auckland dealer via TM. The listing had things like "not been mistreated at all" and "no dents." With the really crappy low res photos, I could just make out some issues with it from the pictures and had to really probe the guy about those areas to get any semblance of truth out of him. But what I couldn't see was mint of course, according to him... But when he meets me at the airport, it starts to become apparent what a POS this car is. Over spray everywhere, the odd dent, the dash was rooted, bits of exterior trim barely holding on - and that's just what I could see in what was left of the early evening light. Any other day I would have walked away from it, but I had no other options, as had just sold my old car that weekend, just missed out on the car I had lined up, got screwed over by another seller in Auckland, and needed wheels for work and school run etc - I've only got myself to blame for getting into such a predicament, but the moral is, if the pictures a rubbish, there's a good chance the car is too. The saving grace was that it was a cheap and mechanically sound car (touch wood).

lots of unique parts on these . front chassis legs have notches to allow the axle movement up and down , floor on the front left beside the passenger knees has a bulged to allow space for the transfer case different front and rear hubs , brakes , front arms , steering rack (not a box) . front struts etc sump has the front diff bolted to it, one axle goes though it., pretty much same design for the front setup that they used for the X5 models http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E34-Touring/Europe/525ix-M50/R-M/browse/engine/oil_pan_oil_level_indicator/ http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E34-Touring/Europe/525ix-M50/R-M/browse/transfer_box_electric_gearbox/transfer_box/ http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E34-Touring/Europe/525ix-M50/R-M/browse/front_axle/ http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E34-Touring/Europe/525ix-M50/R-M/browse/brakes/

Sold the VRSF charge pipe and HKS BOV and BMS air filters to an other guy here Nathan and installed them on his car today. Slowed progress today, but good to share spare bits to others. He seemed happy with the results and new found noise. Car sounded good for sure. Managed to finish off the engine bay fuel rail plumbing, some new push lock fittings, fuel regulator needs to be mounted. Installed a new return line back to the tank, they don't have one factory, using aeroquip -6 lines. Throttle body wiring extended, likewise 4 bar MAP sensor wiring to new charge-pipe. Ill head down Jaycar this week and grab some wire tidys, make em look stock. Took a 1.75" to 2" 90deg elbow from front turbo to relocate the air filter on the drivers side. Bought a couple K&N filters to run as temporary since the others are sold. Piped up the intercooler pipework. Excuse the ASBO blue hoses, they'll go once the ST goes in. So the I/C is in, but needs to drop down about 30mm so the bumper can go back on. Saves me hacking that up. Had my helper yanking on some hoses Still need to mount the new giant (for a little bimmer) dash 10 fuel lines under the car. They are in position. Three fuel pumps are installed in the tank but need finishing. A real arse of a job. I gave up last Sunday on this part of the job after getting real dizzy sitting in the car with hands in the fuel tank for a few hours trying to get the wires attached, all so bloody fiddly. Needed a lye down... Fuel return line needs tapping into the fuel top hat. Injector loom installed, just need to wire in the JB4 port injection controller. I had a Split Second additional injector controller, but the JB4 version has heaps more fail safety devices so will run that through the main JB4. Then we almost ready to test the port injection and E85! This will be the last hoorah with the RB turbos. Lets see what we can get out of them.

This has been mentioned a number of times google is your friend. The only thing to remember is that the connection between fan and pump is. It is left hand thread have removed these myself with the correct size spanner and a rubber mallet. With the spanner fitted securely and at an angle to give room for the spanner to move with out braking anything give the spanner a good whack. Once loose undo the nut a few turns then remove the rivets holding the fan shroud on. Now remove the fan from the water pump and holding onto it and the shroud lift both out.

Checked it out today, thermostats bung so temp never left the blue, makes me wonder how long it's been driven, possibly thrashed while cold. its fairly straight, but not quite as straight as it appears in the trademe photos. Had a recent buff I think that looked vaguely like over spray. on a flat road at 95Kph I couldn't get the consumption under 12.8L/100 which seems high, unless that's just a fun auto feature. started fairly happily, all cylinders at once after about 4 second of winding first start, less than a second the second start. factory exhaust. interior is pretty rough, maybe an ex house painters wagon... Felt very lazy handling wise, my 98 Landcruiser with similar mileage feels more stable In the front while cornering, not loose per se, but lazy and wallowing, seemed to have a vibration in the steering wheel that came and went over 70k. gearbox very smooth, once it warmed up, shifted happily both manually and in A and S, including really nice down shifting which I've missed in my landcruiser. power was smooth but underwhelming, but it is a vanos free 4L.
