Day 3... Swaybars are a @*!# BMW must start with the swaybar and build car around it. Eventually discovered best way is to drop both front subframe bolts and play some sort of chinese finger puzzle. For those that want to know - Stock MS rear is 14mm, B1 is 15mm, stock MS front is 23.5mm, B1 is 28mm The GST (Kommen) subframe bush tool is the business, really nice quality and makes it an easy job. Didnt even have to swear. Butchery of the schwaben bush kit makes for easy install of the crush tubes. Pretty sure could do a cars subframe bushes in an easy half day from go to woah. Found some waterbased degreaser (supercheap), can stick it in foam gun. Works mint. All the rear end arm bushings tomorrow, needs more blue PU.

HD12 is simply the model code for the vehicle. It is just used to designate various standard equipment for the vehicle, as there can be more than one "320i" model or "535i" model either in production at the same time (for different markets, etc) or within the same series designation. There is absolutely nothing "special" about a car being a "HD12" as opposed to a "HD11" LHD version or any other model code for a 535i. The differences between will be within the options added to the factory standard equipment to bring it up to NZ specification, which can be found on a VIN decoder.

Not yet Pete - Though to be honest, apart from testing the waters here I haven't listed it anyway else yet because every-time I take her for a drive I completely fall in love all over again.

this is a ridiculously good deal at that price. hopefully the right buyer comes along and picks this up. As said above, manual conversion in a heartbeat and you got yourself a damn nice E34

Nice to see this again. If i had the parts id buy it and manual covert it in a heartbeat. If you want the washer warning gone just bridge the washer plug terminals with some wire, tape it up and tuck it away. Pointless warning anyway.

you will find that the NZ HD12 is a poor mans e34 M5.They were manual, with a fullmtech spec, sports seats, body kit ,m tech suspension and LSDhd12.doc.I think all of them would have had metric wheels to begin with

option 1 ) so a hundred years ago they pictured ships 399m long 59 m wide and a draft of 14.5 m. 2500 containers per ship. Nope. this is the future , right. Hong Kong , China, Singapore flattered Islands or just made land , we cant do that. Option 2) even with your figures WHY would you put this on the tracks. you have unloading times, storage areas and so on. To far wrong place. option 3) the firth of Thames is the best bet. Its in the golden triangle , Auckland , Hamilton , Tauranga. lots of land and deep water. Option 4) move the Navy to Whangarei free up Devonport and turn it in to a car yard for import's.

action-packed day today. Washed, and then dropped in the e60 to have the Bond Car option delete executed (with thanks to MBI from Autosure). It should be out of sick bay in a few days, no longer appearing as puffing billy! And, while out with the kids in our e46, window regulator failure. So dropped that in to Page European as well. Will be ready tomorrow. So we caught the bus home, and I pressed our trusty 855-T5 into action. It had sat on the side of the road since late January, after I last washed it. It started first go, and I took it for a 30 min drive (after an appropriate warm-up). I really must get it listed for sale this week, it needs a good home to continue the love. Only 196k kms on a 21 year old car; and it feels and runs well.

Ron, Sam, Dutch what ever your name is today, your options must be challenged ... option 1, the Manukau harbour is never going to be an option that's why the cement boats have stopped . the channel can only be entered at high tide or the bigger ships carrying 2000 plus contains will ground. not to mention turn around area restriction with other ships ( the LPG one for starters). Option 2 will never work. A) the trains would be 24 km long for each ship unload 2000 x 40 foot container = 80000 feet or 24km Option 3 we are nuke free here

https://www.micksgarage.com/ Mine were NZ$210.63, but today, with NO voucher, they're NZ$313.12 shipped, for all 4. (so includes NZ$39.46 shipping currently). with a 25% voucher, it'd be down to NZ$244.71 shipped. Sometimes the parts are discounted as well as being able to use the voucher too. There is a current 10% Easter voucher I think, but I've ordered for a mate a few weeks back with a 17% voucher (st paddys day) and previous occasions with a 20 and a 25% voucher. One of those times, I got 2x PAIRS (4 bars) of roof racks, for NZ$243 shipped :-)

Day 2... Progress. More waterblasting under the car while on a creeper, its messy, got totally covered in crap. Took some creativity with the diff bushes to get them out, particularly the rear one as its pretty large. Ended up using bits of the subframe and CAB bushing tools to get something that fitted. Came out and went in easy otherwise. Shocks out, very tired but still working, bump stops and lower mounts are totally shot. Curiously rear diff mount is shagged, fronts look fine. Drive shaft guibos have some cracking, center bearing feels pretty rattly. Pretty minor for the number of ks on it, and luckily nothing havent ordered parts for already. Subframe bushes and all the rear suspension arm bushes tomorrow, and likely new shocks, springs, and sway bar in.

If you are on a computer there is a chrome extension fix for that. Can't be arsed reloading them all but basic went from this; To this except now has 3 pedals

Drove the 328 to the liquor store which is of course closed today, on the way home the go pedal stopped working. Had a side-of-the-road look at the throttle cable had detached entirely from the pedal, the little rubber grommet as deteriorated, not sure yet if I can get a replacement grommet alone. I swear this car has spent some time at the bottom of a lake. But hey, it's a $2k beater and I love it.

Been having a check engine light and misfire starting once rpms get over 4k. Scanned the car and got a misfire on cylinder 3 code, figured it was probably a coil so got the ignition maintenance kit from FCP euro so that hopefully when they're due for another change it will only cost about $80 max(return shipping). Got all 6 plugs and coils changed, decided not to use dielectric grease. Went mostly without a hitch except the $5 spark plug socket from FCP was a pita, the rubber is way to tight and when it's gripping the plug there's no extension arm in the world that will hold it, ended up MIG welding it to an old 3/4 extension and that worked well enough, still took a lot of muscle to get it on and off the plug though. Anyway, got everything back together and the motor runs smooth and pulls hard right through the rpm range without any issues or misfires whatsoever so I'm a happy man.

Spent a good chunk of today on the 750, Avin Avant 3 device headunit was to be installed and three quarters sorted but need another type of cable to the boot, so ordered that as well. Got the reversing camera in and cabling for that sorted. Cable should be here next week and then it can be finished up. In sorting the camera cabling all the back seats have been out and tidy up etc, thanks for the $2 Dave Replaced the rear door sun blind. Cleaned all the door cards and front seats, mixed a light blue and black leather dies to a nice colour and got the fronts coloured up and looking sharp. Door cards all tided up as well. Really pleased how it’s going, when the rears are back in they will be done as well. plenty of vacuuming under and around the inside, looking good all round. Cabin air filters replaced. Was up and under the rear end looking for a vibration, nothing spotted but the disk brake dust cover being really close to the rotor. See what happens with it. Few issues with the window washers so pulled the front fender inside guard off and checked through then discovered a leak coming out the base of the bonnet when pumping so will sort that when I swap the bonnet out, collecting a spare from Dave tomorrow that’s at the freight company. Still a good clean up under there is always a good thing. few pics of progress on the leather colouring, will post some more when the Avin unit is in (pre colouring ones at the bottom) Hardwired the Radar Detector also, definitely need that in this !
