If Ray / HellBM team put the second engine in then there's nothing to be worried about there, which I believe they did but would have to double check with them to be 100%. Probably almost a positive selling point, because things would have been done properly and any issues found whilst in there would have been sorted - plus all the other work that was done when it was converted over to the V8.

Ha, you have been working on BMWs so long your body now thinks it is one! Glad you are on the mend.

Compare this HVLP tuning image to the carpet shot and i think you’re spot on.

So.... I purchased the UK import E46 M3 yesterday. https://www.trademe.co.nz/1833187514 The bodywork and interior are mint.....love the red interior. Also has the HK sound system. Some corrosion underneath and on the calipers, but looks minimal so far. It seems like HellBM is the recommended service provider, so I'll give Ray a call tomorrow and ask him to give it a once over and replace anything that needs replacing. Also need to check rear subframe. I'll report back as soon as I have an outcome.

I can see the problem - you've been using the wrong coolant - it should be blue.

RR is in TK now. There's enough line there to complete a temporary job using the existing line, and cut off what was removed, and the one way inline valve. Doing the job properly will mean removing the inlet manifold - I'll get to that in time. Changed the spark plugs today. The combination of removing the air pump (etc) and new plugs does mean the tickover seems to have settled down a bit, and it generally feels like it's running better. Current average fuel consumption is 13.5km per litre - aka 7.4 litres per 100km. A fairly easy 800km+ per tank of fuel. Not bad for a 17 year old automatic!

Looks a good score. You have the ability to get some of your money back on the parts you take out too.

Mercedes also ran the Hirschman brand power antennas so could be a source of parts. The earlier metal body ones from e21s and other BMWs late 70s early 80s should also fit the e30. Otherwise look for universal ones such as below. https://mercedessource.com/store/hirschmann-universal-replacement-power-antenna-custom-instructions

echoing others in this thread, thankfully you got a hose clamp on it, and your fixes are withstanding pressure testing, Glenn. Heal well ?

Yep, good thing was there was no rips or tears or saggy bits .... just discolouration from being closed up in the dark, back-of-his-garage for so long.

All good thanks. Glenda's been brilliant. Actually everyone has been a great help. Even the poor intern at MM who openly said he didn't know how to deal with it. We got the bleeding under control and I had to wait and go to my surgeon to get it sorted. We now have our own cauterizing kit at home now thanks to my surgeon. The commercial cleaner guy got the shock of his life seeing the result. The blood on the floor was still wet when he got here at 2.00pm. He might have got it all out. If not....new carpet. He and my wife did a marvelous job. Think I might still have an issue with getting a good night sleep after last night though.

I'm all good thanks guys. It was the scariest thing I have ever encountered in my life because I couldn't see where the blood was coming from. Both of us panicked a bit and I couldn't use my glasses to see. I'm all taped up for the next couple of days so this won't happen again. I put this opp off for years because of work. A bit of a long road to get down at the moment but all should be all good in 6-8 weeks. Rhinophyma cannot be dealt with by medication alone(which I've tried) and effects people in many ways, both physically and mentally just have to deal with it now I have time. Maybe I should take up spray painting now ? I have an air brush gun and compressor to practice with at home.

Wow, that would be scary! Hard to believe were all just soft bags of ATF.

This looks like one of these scenes from CSI where the guy works out how the brutal murder unfolded based on the blood splatter. glad you’re alright.

Thats impressive, although im 80% convinced you bleed ATF. That looks DEXRON V compatible. Also your nose has better atomisation than the spraygun i bought from supercheap.

... I’ll scrape out a link I had saved; it’s a URO knockoff of the Hirschmann AUTA 2050 though with lots of bezels/grommets. They run about USD50. Although URO aren’t the best quality aftermarket parts, how badly can they mess up copying a quality product like the Hirschmann? HTH
