Hi all, my name is Matt and I currently own an E39 540i. I'm a mechanic and WOF inspector at a family owned workshop here in Invercargill. My father started and owns the business and I run it from day to day now, as he is of retirement age and can't be bothered anymore haha. I've owned several other bimmers over the years including... - 2004 E65 740i - 2004 E66 760li - E53 X5 4.4 And my current E39 I've owned 60+ cars in my 38 years, some pretty unique (so many I wished I kept) and would be worth so much money now, hindsight right... My dream BMW would be a face-lift E39 M5, but the 540 is about all the budget extends to at the moment lol. I have 3 kids, my son is 4 and twin 7 month girls and I'm slowing tidying up my E39 as I can afford it but my toy always takes a backseat to theirs lol. Looking forward to talking to others and, once I'm not so time and money poor, going on a few road trips, meeting others and checking out some other nice bimmers.

What are you on about, there's yellow plastic tape everywhere!!

think the point went straight over your head the existing gun laws, if followed correctly by police would have stopped him obtaining those weapons it was human error not a law issue

@Olaf It's just scuffing. There is no cracks anywhere that I've found. I think the pic below is fairly colour accurate but from what I've googled it might be the Anthrazit F046. I'll do some more Googling. Thanks for your help! Today, instead of re-pailing the fence, I took two photos of the car parked in front of it ?

I didn't miss NZ at all. I enjoyed having a city that had actual seasons. Not just warm rain, cold rain, sunburn. DC is greener, cheaper, more interesting, has more to do, more diverse and just as easy to escape to the wilderness. Great car scene, easy cheap travel, tons of sport every night of the week. And none of the Murica sh*t the NZ media feeds you unless you go looking for it. The reason I'm here in NZ now? I had a 5 year diplomatic visa than ran out. And lots of elderly to spend time with while I can.

Black leather is literally the most common interior in the e39. Can probably pick a base up in good shape from a wrecker or pick a park for minimal cost and almost no effort. Makes way more sense unless you're recolouring it for the sake of learning a new skill.

Sure, used e39 parts are quite cheap now. If it were a different colour or had individual spec stitching or some other rare characteristics then definitely a touch up on the damage.

No. He'd not have obtained a license, for starters.
  11. 1 point
That's debatable. One can easily argue that even if his application was processed correctly, he could have still obtained the licence - especially considering that he did not have prior convictions or was known to the authorities. Secondly, the Terrorist himself was interviewed by the Police and was still granted a licence. If that sentence doesn't highlight the flaws in the system to obtain a Gun licence, then I am wasting my time posting here. It was indeed a Human error to have missed the prevention of the Massacre. A Gun range owner had warned the Police about the terrorist, yet they failed to check up on him. The problem is not one officer making an error of judgement but the Terrorist managed to slip through quite a few cracks in the system. Revision of the Gun laws is just tightening one of the cracks for the next guy.

Ah yeah true it’s a good project. I’d probably get a colour match off of a surrounding area as if you go off a paint code or using the excess leather underneath the seat base it might not match due to uv fading. Yeah the febi ones have thicker plastic and are definitely up to holding maccas cups. Just put the cup in nicely and you’ll be fine.

September 11 was the first and only time Terrorists used Flight training to train for their mission. But it highlighted a major loop hole as to who was deemed fit to receive Flight training (even recreational). Only after Sept 11, background checks became mandatory for flight training. How many law abiding citizens take up flight training? They still have to put up with the new rules and legislations (at an extra cost). Airport security became a pain to deal with and go through after Sept 11. But it was necessary. How many terrorists have airport security managed to catch/stop so far? None, but every law abiding passenger has to be screened the same way. Same way this was a first 'White Supremacist/Terrorist' committing an act of Terrorism in NZ (the Christchurch shooter was not known to Authorities prior to the attack. Some might argue that he was a Law abiding citizen then). The Christchurch attack exposed the fact that the Gun laws were way too relaxed in NZ. Yes, it is a pain for you law abiding folks to have to put up with the new rules and legislations (just like dealing with the security screening at an airport). But it is helping to add another filter to make it harder for Terrorists/Gang members to get hold of weapons so easily here in NZ. These are only reactive measures to make it harder for the next guy. The Terrorists will always come up with new ways to cause harm.

Posting here in case any BS members are in the market for a punchy SUV. Save $60k off retail for what's practically a new car! I bought this for my Mum as a birthday present to replace her 335i wagon however she's decided that she prefers a smaller station wagon. This car is absolutely immaculate. Travelled only 13,000kms. It was serviced in June by Auckland City BMW and has 3 years BMW warranty remaining. In sport mode this sounds awesome with loud crackles and pops. If that's not for you just put it in comfort or eco! Features include: M-sport package Carplay (lifetime package already paid for) Lane departure assist 360 degree camera Harmon Kardon stereo Night time lighting package Electronic tailgate Keyless entry ... The list goes on. $77,900 021 070 9077 Viewings in Orakei. 0210709077

How many terrorists and gang members hold a FAL in NZ? How many firearms offences are committed by FAL holders yearly? How many firearms offences are committed by gang members yearly? Perhaps we can reflect on how licenced firearms owners must be one of the most law abiding segments of society. And how, just maybe, targeting them with more legislation and restrictions will change none of society's problems... Because they cause none of them.
