Saw the M badge on the door & style 32's, hoped for something special, but ran the plate to find a Pretty standard 320i with M Sports suspension, was originally Granitsilber Metallic though, possible the wheels and paint job aren't the only things the owner has tweaked. http://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/JA73030/EN/

Finished a refurb of my E36 318iS's gearbox and shifter. New Knob, Shift Lever, every bushing and clip also replaced, clutch replaced, and new G250 box that doesn't jump out of 3rd, just wines like a dog box... sounds kind of cool... not going to overthink it... drives awesome now, i regret less flicking the E30, just need to sort the wheels, paint, sun roof, glove box & rear left door lock mechanism and it will be just like a new one.

Box and clutch swapped, with the windows down I noticed new box has a high pitched wine like a dog box... it had the ATF recommended sticker so I used Penrite full synthetic, 1.1L. Shifting feels smooth though, probably helps that i replaced every bush and bearing in the shift linkage.

Which rear seal? Looking at it the flywheel is new (maybe during last clutch change) but the clutch was maybe half worn. no leaks are perceptible in the lower areas behind the engine

I would recommend re-flowing every solder connection you can see, it won't hurt it but might fix this issue and defer others that will happen with time. -
No, I guess that's the morning job, I have a new kit for it, but I really want to be able to take it out this weekend so I don't want to have to machine the flywheel haha.

So I'm half way through replacing the Gearbox in the E36, been easy so far as when the last mechanic did it they were kind enough to leave the two hardest to reach bolts out... yeah... anyway. the clutch looks pretty new to me, I'm thinking rather than open up a can of worms I might be better just to leave it installed, because I doubt the flywheel was machined, unless they replaced the flywheel, it does seem in surprisingly good nick for a car this old. can I get a second opinion?

Sorted Shifter bushes and knob out, moves and looks way nicer. Before https://www.youtube.com/embed/W2jFlOnCpcA After https://www.youtube.com/embed/uOiqTpzOfqg Was a bit of a mission as the PO or POO/PPO? actually glued the shift knob on, it must have been quite the sight watching me remove it, took around 15 mins. Also sorted out exhaust and muffler but will post that up with a sound clip video once i finish the gearbox swap.

Drooled a little over this F80 outside Jaycar this arvo, was late picking up my partner as I couldn't resist waiting for it to start up and drive off. Driver/Owner looked all of 28 tops, worked for a fitness company going by the emblem on his jersey. Sound was disappointingly hollow when it pulled away, stock exhaust. k

For my E36 318, M44B19, the Fuel door says use 91 only, i'm a believer in the powers of 98, or at least 96 as when I drive, i tend to push things, should I listen to the fuel flap sticker? or follow my heart?

According to the google these had 17x7.5 ET41 as standard, so the 17x8ET47 will be identical on the outer edge, in hindsight i'll probably go square over staggered, i choose handling, may invest in spacers for the front though as I read the rear is 15mm wider than the front from factory to induce understeer in adverse conditions because that's safer for most drivers.

I know for sure the version that came out on this car were 17 x 7.5, which narrows it down to three appearances they were used on. im trying to get the ones that were issued on the ZA E36 318 iS MS Commemorative

Does anyone have a set of them looking for a new home, and/or an indication of what I should expect to pay if some pop up? Tempted to get ANYTHING in the mean time to replace the chromes

Need a new remote key for the E36, only have the spare without remote buttons, seen prices for $300 for ' keys programmed' but in theory should be able to buy one for a 10th of that and use the guide to program it? I'm not sure what frequency it will be though, south african assembled, so 415mhz? Any leads to good places to source?

Front shocks were new-ish Monroe Reflex's, maybe 30,000k's on them, rears looked like original MS items, it is a todo to get new MS shocks on it, but it's way down the line as it feels okay for the moment.
