  1. Pronounced Dy-nin, didn't know that.
  2. I don't disagree with Glenn, you can't rely on the advice you've been given unless you've been given more advice than you're sharing with us. Did the person that scanned the codes actually reset the airbag light (so it was off) and then it appeared again? Did you get a copy of the airbag codes the car was throwing? Don't spend any money yet is my advice - I'm no e90 expert but on earlier models, and according to realoem, the clock spring is part of the steering wheel assembly and not available separately (unless from a wrecker). http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=VA72-EUR-07-2005-E90-BMW-320i&mg=32

    Quick Questions

So apparently it's for both the washer nozzles and the heated wing mirrors. I'd need to remove the hood liner to see how the washer nozzles are wired up. Correct mounting location in the e36 (M3) is the brake duct on the RHS, in e36's with non-motorsport bumpers apparently it's mounted up by the washer reservoir. I had some idle time at work this morning to research. Mine had fallen out and was just hanging by the wires. Cheers guys.
  4. But Ron, it's got the wrong brand of suspension and tyres!

    Quick Questions

Yes, I'd worked that out but how? There appears to be no heater element or circuit so does it just stop the washers from spraying? I did see that it was on a heap of vehicles but I'd like to know the 'proper' place to install it on an e36. Mine's been disconnected for a while and I'd like to get it sorted.

    Quick Questions

In an e36, what's the thermo switch (61318357632) for the windshield washer system used for? Also, where does the bracket for said switch (61318359077) mount?
  7. Could be interested... When you say "steering lock seized" do you mean it's locked per normal but the key won't release it? Also "doesn't maintain idle well" means it just hunts or actually stalls? Feel free to PM if you prefer.

Armrests suck also in the e36. Glad my car came without, as the Germans intended. And with two hands on the wheel WTF is the armrest actually for? Traffic lights? Use your lap.

I'm not sure they thought you were stupid. Based on the photographic evidence provided I think they thought the tech's were doing it wrong. And to be fair a different photo, one of the actual checking, to accompany the text might have lead to a different conclusion. But sure, assumptions are...
  10. Thanks and no problem... Reupholster supplied rear seat (base/back) retaining existing leather and using supplied material Reupholster supplied front seat inserts (base/back x2) using supplied material Create new front seat base bolster covers (x4) using supplied material Repair front seat base bolsters (x4) = approx. $1000 So, add the seats, the material, the mounting bases, the sliders, the belt buckles, the door cards and you're looking at a silly amount... :-/
  11. Some more pics would help, it sounds (and looks from the single pic) very nice and the price seems reasonable.
  12. This is true. And I don't want to get into a pissing competition but it's important to note that whilst it's possible to optimise an adjustable setup most people will never be able to do this and will end up with a worse setup than an off-the-shelf non-adjustable setup. The reality of optimising a suspension setup is that you need a ton of knowledge, a ton of experience and a ton of time. Most people don't have any of that. An adjustable setup in the hands of somebody that can tune it properly is by far the most adaptable setup and as such can be optimised for all sorts of conditions. An adjustable setup in the wrong hands is a disaster waiting to happen. And that's exactly why I don't have adjustable suspension. I don't need it and by accepting the inherent (albeit small) compromises of a matched non-adjustable setup I've saved time, money and frustration. I've also lost nothing because I don't have a race car. Most people I know with an adjustable setup fiddle a bit, get it feeling fine and never revisit the settings. Might as well just get a fixed setup. Although ride-height flexibility with adjustable shocks is appealing in and of itself to some people.
  13. No, not too firm. In fact I think this is how the car should have come from the factory. Even my mother wouldn't say the ride was uncomfortable. There's a lot of opinion about the Bilstein dampers that is no longer relevant/accurate as the shocks have undergone a significant overhaul since (about) 2008. This is about the same time they teamed up with Eibach. You won't find a better matched non-adjustable set of dampers/springs/sways out there because they are matched, not just bundled together.
  14. Yes, with the NZKW base and slider they bolt straight in. I need to raise them ~25mm however because they're too low. They're SR3's out of an Evo IV.
  15. I also battled with seatbelts as I installed my rear seats... got there in the end.
  16. Far from complete but you get the picture. Front seat inserts are just placed in there for the time being and I still need to clean up the fronts properly. Very different, very dark! But I like it. They need some use so that everything starts to settle into place but that'll happen over time.
  17. Tips look great. But how does it sound?

    Quick rant thread.

Well that sucks! Did you get the rego of the truck? Have a look at point #3 here it seems you'll need to be careful to comply or perhaps be unable to with protruding bonnet pins. Edit: also here (PDF) from NZTA.

    Tears in his eyes?
  20. Right, so I collected the start of my upholstered bits today, rear seat assembly and front seat inserts. Also dropped front the bolsters off to get fixed and recovered. Must get on to those door cards or it's going to look a little odd for a while!
  21. That looks a bit different... More to be posted in my project thread shortly.
