Hi need some help please. A little back ground info, my computer began to slow down, did the defrag, cleaned the disc, cleared cookies etc. but it did not work. Had it checked out and found the hard drive was failing, this was replaced with a new hard drive and the information transferred from the old drive to the new one. Came to start it up and Windows needs to be activated, using the software and key from my old (no longer going) laptop - as can't find desktop's key. Went through the process only to find that, Microsoft will not allow the registration as the laptop software was a pre-sale installation licence and therefore even though it is my laptop and programme (no longer in use) it cannot be transferred to my desktop. It seems that I own the windows software only provided it is on the laptop. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome. Allan

Thumbs down all round by the sound of it, feed it to the lion's lol. Have to agree with most of the comments made it seems to be a bit of this model added to a bit of that model and fill the gaps with left overs sorry BMW. Allan

Hi, first how bad do you want the clear Euro look?as this is not a cheep exercise when done with quality items. The 2002 model e39 like Penry stated has a one piece headlight unit, these how ever can be opened up if you so wish to go down that path. It is far easier to just simple replace the whole headlight assemble and while at it up grade to the HID/ Xenon's, if not already a far better quality light in my opinion plus replace the 5w bulbs used in the halo rings for the LED type make sure your pockets a deep. Have a look at this it is of my 530 when I upgraded the lights http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=19619 if you need any help pm Cheers Allan

Hi, have a warning coming up on the instrument cluster, check boot lip upon checking the lid it is secure. Also noticed the remote on the key and the button to open the boot doesn't work also, by drivers leg plus both the lights do not function either. Have checked the fuses in the glove box and right wheel arch area all seem ok. Is the problem with a connector, earth, boot lock solenoid or else where could some one guide me to where I need to look next. It's a 2002 e39 530i. Cheers Allan

Hi F4allen, Would like to see a photo of what the car looks like now and then compare with your photo shop altered ones?. This is a very personal type situation and every body has their own opinions so no offense to any one by my next comments. As an owner of a 530i would have to say that both pic 2 and 3 make the car look like a "hoons" car for various reasons the 5 series is not a boy racer vehicle but a more refined motor requiring well thought out mod's. Interesting, would like to know the age spread of the people who have commented on this so far?. As one lets say matures one's likes and dis likes change. That said the quad idea does look nice with the m sport type rear bumper, I believe eibach systems, spelling, have this as an option requires a bit more to do than at first sight. Cheers Allan

Hi all, Can anyone direct me to info on manual transmissions for e39's. Have read the 528's had them, ZFS5 325Z is the code for it, that is what Bentley had to say. Thanks for any assistance, Happy Easter one and all. Cheers Allan

Sprint hi and welcome to bimmersport. As for things you could do a light up grade to the clean Euro look is a good start. If you can afford it upgrade the low beam to HID/Xenon, if not already. Next change the halo ring bulb to the LED type. How many k's has your's done plus is it an import or NZ. The 39's have a number of issues cooling system, lights and a few others I cannot remember but are nice to drive have fun with it. Cheers Allan

Have 235/45 ZR17 94w Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front of my E39 530 coming up to 40,000km on them and they read 5mm of tread left in Feb when an new wof was issued. On the rear have GT radials Champiro HPZ-45 235/45 ZR17 97w again with 5mm of tread have had no issue's with either. The tyre pressure's I have checked and kept up to MFS at all time's. Just what I'm running if it's of any help will depend a lot on what the vehicle is going to be used for plus the loads it is likely to carry. Allan

Good to see you having a crack at the repairs yourself. Hate to ask is that jack the only thing holding the car up or is their an axle stand some where not shown?. Allan.

Why not take an eleven year old car their if you so desire?. That is not the point he is trying to make I believe but the lack of courtesy shown by the agent concerned. The last time I was their they had a green 2002 in the middle of the show room, correct me if wrong but that model is a little over eleven years old is it not. Allan
