Looks like extreme uv ray damage combined with general wear and tear. The seats would look as new with a restoration kit from furniture clinic. You could easily sink 5 k in to that example. More if needing mechanical attention. Would be hard to get over 20k back due to the kms.

Hate when that happens! Especially when it's something you're pre ordering and you need 4 sets not 2 because you forget about 2 banks of cylinders. Ex oseas only.

Today marks 100 years of the BMW AG. In prep for the 100 year anniversary drive with the BMW ccnz I spent about 350 minutes cleaning the M5. First clay bar and wax since the ocd treatment last November. Before : After :

Fracture split crank shaft as opposed to con rods. Brutal.

In before thread lock. SFD = Stupid f**king dicks.

Possibly been thrashed. These engines can spin con rod bearings from a result of thrashing or it could just be down to bad luck why a replacement was needed. If it's been fitted with a brand new short block then consider it a bonus. 5k is steep for a clutch. Presume that would include a flywheel too? I'll bet u could source a clutch and fly o'seas and have a friendly mechanic do the work for 3k, if not less.

Depends if the inner layers also are damaged. Best bet is to go to a repair shop and get some quotes.

I like my manual. The only gripes are I have is that it's hard to engage second after a cold start and It will bunny hop in 1st if crawling along at idle too.. Nothing a bit of throttle map tweaking can't fix.

nah there's a 4 door version

This ones done itself a small mischief. Previous owner lived across the road. Had a broken headlight, bumper and smacked in guard before it moved on. Made funny noises before the prang too.

3x black and 1x white :-)

Does anyone know where to buy in nz the screw caps for number plates? They come in black or white so they blend in nice with the plates.

Doesn't make sense to buy and export to Germany for BMW AG... Why not source a locally crashed example in Europe?

Yay it's dead.

Can you suggest me a good BMW model to buy?
BreakMyWindow replied to Jagan's topic in General Discussion
Bit of a false economy these days buying a bmw for the brand status. You could probably pick up a tidy low mileage e9x 320i for 10k..... Looks nice, handles well. Lemon engine. -
Could very well be the case if both cars are run on the same dyno. I.e engine knock control strategies on an engine producing it's peak higher in the rev range is going to be more strangled by the dme if criteria is met. Where as the N54 producing its peak more in the mid range in stock form has less strict measures in place. Could be ful of sh1t but I have seen the effects crap dyno environments have on peak outputs for the late 90's series engines. Anyway lucky people in the market for 1M's, spoiled for choice!

No such thing as a low maintenance or $150 every 6 month used bmw. If you can afford brand new which comes with warranty and service plans then you will enjoy care free motoring, unless you get a factory lemon. These cars are built to a high standard (in most cases) and demand that they're well maintained. Not trying to put the op off but If you're looking at a bmw in the 20k price range, expect some bills if you intend on keeping it for a while. -
I think Remus do one. Should be DIY if you get a clamping bush. I think redline performance stock Remus.

Pretty cool a 16 year old uber sedan can still keep up with the latest and greatest.

Pretty sure this one has been on TM for a wee while. It had orange wheels at one point
